I doubt many truly care what people spend their money on either, apart to laugh at the absurdity of what they are buying and the price they are paying for it :)
Most people do seem to care about predatory companies though. Especially in the gaming industry because there tends to be knock on effects with regards to monetization, ie the F2P movement which brought about excessive cash shops with in game promotions being shoved in your face every time you logged in, the predatory lootbox movement (which is thankfully on the way out due to lots of bad press) and so on.
What CIG is doing has been repeated by other crappy kickstarters exploting the whole idea of what crowdfunding should be about, Shroud of the Avatar, Chronicles of Elyria to name a couple.

The worst bit is all the other games that could have been. "I'd back this but I got my fingers burned with SC" is pretty common.

Actually released video games for sale is probably offtopic in the SC thread.

In latest episode of pillar talk CR says that they have put together 2 moons in 2 months (previous moons had taken 2 years), caveat being they had already had the most time consuming assets built to put in place, the landing zones.
Given the lack of biomes and smaller sizes I wonder how quickly they can assemble planets in the future?

Also heard that QT times have been altered quite a lot, big ships are slower but can go farther and small ships faster but need more refuelling. As it should be imo.

We see quite a lot of them...some minky whales and other species...unusual for them to pop into the harbour though.

I hadn't realised they were so commonly seen up there. A programme I watched a little while ago about the SPCA did a piece about a group of people who monitor the Orcas moving around the bays, helluva sight.

I'll stay down south where I can surf in peace thank you very much :)

Pillar talk actually mentioned the planetary dev folks had built all the moons and planets in the Stanton system in 2 months for V4 planet tech, not just 2...considering previously it took them 6 months just to build Hurston. I thought that was quite impressive...even CR and croneys around the table mentioned it.

…and both labels remain hugely inaccurate. It is neither of those things, so much so that there was this whole scandal and refunding drive to compensate for that fact.

…also that. The two couldn't be more dissimilar even with all the help the professor emeritus of dissimilarity from the University of Notthesame could muster. :D

I see, more of a rebuild than assembling them from scratch then. It will be interesting to see how quickly they can get full builds done in the coming year with Pyro being introduced.

According to pillar talk when they mentioned it, they didn't just recover the old moons with new textures but rebuilt them from scratch with the V4 tech. It kinda surprised me when they mentioned it as I had thought it was just a brush over job with the old moons.

In game with the new wind effects blowing up dust storms on Daymar and blown snow and ice on Lyria etc, it certainly looks the part. I still haven't been to Microtech yet...mostly since there's plenty to see but nothing much to do there. I'll have a fly out tonight and have a mooch around...seemingly there's an easter egg (or Xmas egg) as Ci¬G have put a santa's grotto and Xmas tree with pressies around it near one of the buildings in New Babbage...good for screenies I suppose but little else.

I must admit, the new interiors for the orbital stations and R&R stops are pretty good...every one is different although similar in design...I got lost in one of the R&R stops I routinely deliver cargo to. Also nice that there's now habs at all of them to log out from...

The faster QT times are also a welcome change...and faster QT drive spool ups for my Caterpillar which took ages in 3.7.

WUT? Even with my murderous game play tendencies I managed to spend quite a bit of time there role playing as Julie Andrews.

It is really well done. Probably the best planet/moon yet. Gotta fly around and look at the different biomes.

Shame there is absolutely no real reason to go there yet.

Julie Andrews eh? I can just imagine... :D

That's all fine and dandy, but now i want to see how fast they are producing new systems. They still have about 99 to deliver...

I do get it...but I still think folks that play golf are a bit nuts..or the ones that throw cash at other stuff I don't really have an interest in. As for those whale backers who seem to have difficulty climbing over their disposable incomes just getting out the door, I don't really care that much..it's not my money they're spending ;)

Wasn't it someone like Oscar Wilde who said golf is a perfectly good way to ruin a walk?
