Have your buying behaviours changed since Arx?

I have been hoarding my arx, like Ebenezer Scrooge. My plan is to save up at least 10,000 then go on a buying spree of cheap paint jobs and bobbleheads.

I haven't bought a single thing since they implemented ARX.

I dislike the obfuscation of prices, and since I get a few Arx for free I have no plans to actually purchase any. Plus the prices now seem very high, because the numbers are large. It's just psychological, but everything on the store now appears very expensive to me.

So in my case, at least, it's reduced my desire to purchase.
This sums it up quite well for me too.
I purchased my stuff last year and the year before, plenty of chrome and gold and wire frames, the new store layout is not really inviting, the Arx are too obfuscated and doesn't make me want to spend anything.
Not to mention the quality of the paint jobs was really sub par for the last 11 months.
Just plain and very un-creative paints thrown out there without any thought about someone wanting to buy that.

I'd usually spend about £10 a month on cosmetics from PS4 launch as I bought PS4 points and knew how much everything was. Now I still have no idea without looking it up every time how much a skin is, and the in-game store is rubbish, so I've bought one free skin with free Arx since the swap-over and haven't spent any additional money since.

SKins are crazy expensive, but the game, the Galaxy is beautiful, but 7 of our Northern bucks for just a ship skin is silly. Got a few other space sims to throw money at.

There is only one purchase that requires a value calculation - purchasing Arx. Given that I have to allow for exchange rates and extra fees, why bother to flog a dead horse? If I want a cosmetic item, I'll simply acquire it if I have the Arx available, otherwise I'll wait until I do - that may or may not include a purchase of Arx.

no, these tricks don't work on me.

i supported frontier when it was a small team doing something pioneering and amazing. i won't subsidize a publicly traded company just trying to make quick bucks out of it. if frontier want my money they'll have to work and come up with something worth paying for. vanity items, no matter how fancy, aren't it.

I know mine have.

At the end of every year i bought a ton of paintjobs. May it be the Black ones from black Friday or Golden ones in the Weeks of December.
This Year i didnt buy any of those simply because of how expensive everything got. If i reach enough free ARX with the daily logins i will probably buy one with those but otherwise ill pass.
Overall i spend only a tiny fraction of the Money i usually spend on Elite per Year even though there was no shortage of stuff i would have liked to have.

Is it the Same for you or did you buy even more since Arx?
I know that, at least in my case, ARX were a shot in their own foot for Frontier.

Have a pleasant day.

Einar.

I have a large collection of Elite paintjobs and ship kits, but I have not bought anything since Arx got implemented. Not a single thing.
I used to buy a whole bunch of paintjobs and shipkits at every sale.
Having to buy Arx packs have prevented me doing so.

I hate not being able to see the real world price in the shop, and I hate having to buy fake money first.
I hate the fact that this mechanic is designed to obfuscate the intuitive understanding of the value of the money I am spending.

I see a lot of cool paintjobs I would have liked to buy, but if I can not spend real world money in the webshop, and if I am not able to see the real word price of the items, then I am not ever going to buy anything ever again. It is as simple as that.
I do not play this mickey mouse money game. It feels wrong to me. My spider sense is tingling when I see schemes like these.

I am accepting of the fact that this is the way of gaming these days, but UBI, EA or Rockstar (and they have been at it much longer) have not been able to persuade me to fall for this scheme, and neither will Frontier. It is not going to happen... is what I am thinking at the moment, but on the other hand... if the 2020 update is really worth it, and if it is able to infuse ED with new life, I might come around... eventually... but I don't expect it...

To be fair, the vanity items are a large part of their business model from the start.
I agree that wanting a more rounded gameplay is desirable.

I'm still not buying anything, so my purchase behavior is the same. When they get around to fixing broken parts of the game, I may consider it.

Shouldn't you be pleased that the small pioneering company you helped so very generously has done really well. Isn't that the best possible outcome of your altruism ?.
