"actual game assets rendered in real time in engine"

It's almost 2020, and Star Citizen is still in pre-Alpha. Where is the game I backed, Chris? Where is it?

It never existed, they didn't have a product back then and haven't got one now.

Given CI`g's past history with "trailers vs game" I think it's a pretty safe bet that it's not in any way representative of the actual greybox/game. :D
Maybe... Maybe not. I am not invested enough to leap to its.defence and neither am I salty enough to hate on it either and state it is definitely all lies.

1 thing is certain we will find out sooner or later. Either the game will come out and will be judged accordingly or the bubble will burst and the house of cards collapse.
Until then my library is bursting at the seams with stuff begging me to play.

If its on your radar as potentially being all lies don't give them any money at all until you are certain what it is, also get back any money you already gave them.

That ship sailed long ago, in my life I help KS 2 projects ED and SC. I won't be doing any more i dont think.

I backed ED, Subnautica and 7daystodie. Enjoy all of them with no regrets at all, but I had a very good look at gameplay first which is why I took a wait and see approach to SC.

Too many spoilers for me with early access though so I'm also done with that approach to gaming.

Early access I have bought in to a few., But for the very specific reason that they announced VR support and I wanted to do my bit for them to see a spike of sales after adding VR

(It's not much but is all I could do ). On top of that i got a significant saving off launch price.

However I agree with you on spoilers.and after buying i still didn't play. (subautica, dirt rally and assetto corsa 2)!truth is instill havent.

Subnautica's a great game, I had to stop myself playing the early version so most of the story was still pretty new on launch. I still knew how to do everything and the game area within 250m (ish) of the surface and strolled though it on ironman though so I'd have enjoyed it more if I'd not touched it. I need to pick the artic expansion up sooner or later.

I've now reverted to my old habit of only ever buying games that have been out a few years and are thoroughly patched include loads of DLC/mods and are on special offer. Kickstarters and early access were fashionable for a bit but I don't think its a better experience for the gamer.

About a third of the way in I gave up counting the sc-fi films and video games that they've blatantly plagiarised 'paid homage' to. I guess, if imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, that they've gone right out of their way to spread 'copious flattery'. To be fair, it looks not half bad, but then so did the 'show-reel' for Elite Dangerous.

Disappointingly, and predictably, the main part missing from the video was at the end. The release date. I'd hate to think that things might be getting stale for Chris after eight years - poor lamb, suffering for his art so.

Meanwhile....Developers of the game Hellion(Zero Gravity Games)abandon the project and left the game in the early access state.....

Some of the issues this game was facing sound very familiar here on this topic.......At the beginning game was looking very promising but with time starts to fade away......

One of the problems was they went for ultra realism, which the hardcore loved, but it didn't sell with the wider audience.

Man, 3.8 is the buggiest game I've ever played. But mentions of it in chat in-game resulted in the, "it's an alpha, don't complain" argument. And I said, "Well you'd think after 7 years it'd be less buggy..." to which they replied, "It's an alpha, all bugs are acceptable. Either put up with it or leave." The eternal alpha continues. Spent about 7 of my 8 hours playing trying to get the game to work for more than 15 minutes without a game breaking bug occurring. Can't reclaim ships, beds cause black screens, (so dying by walking into an NPC or other player results in having to restart your game, or when you fall through geometry or get stuck somewhere requiring suicide, which is a huge pain in parties) changing weapons cause black screens, EVA causes total character lock 10 times out of 10 when in zero-g space no matter how you exit your ship, trying on armor causes a game freeze, inspecting a weapon causes it to grow in size exponentially to where it blocks your entire view, (annoying one because your weapon won't fire till you inspect it due to another bug) etc. I could make a list of about 20 game breaking bugs from that one gameplay session. xD
