The future of VR in Elite:Dangerous

Of those that you mention I own Lone Echo. I loved it but it was quite linear and short, and it's not a world that I feel compelled to revisit like Elite. I intend to check out Asgard's Wrath and Stormland, but again I don't expected them to scratch the same itch that Elite does.

Heeey stop moving the goalposts ;-) I was talking about "Elite being the best VR experience", because there are better vr experiences out there :D For scratching space itch, nothing comes close (because it doesn't exist in the sense currently framed by Elite (1:1 milky way)). And it's sad because it allows wtfdev to stagnate ED.

My eight year old PC is being pushed to its limits and is now becoming a bit unreliable. I would also like to try the Rift S but I am loathe to upgrade my kit unless I know that VR will persist into the new 2020 update.

You older-PC-molester, eight years is enough! 😂 Give the grandpa PC the retirement it desires 😂 ! [said kettle to the pot, I upgraded from 2012 i5-3570k this year]. Also there are other games... As demonstrated... Well worth upgrading the kit ;-)

Yeah, I am well aware of articles and tips like that. I personally wish they stopped worrying about motion sickness in VR and best practices.

If you have VR, you have VR
If you can bum about in an SRV in VR for as long as you like, you are probably immune from motion sickness.

Well, no.
Skyrim VR with locomotion is so heavy on the senses, walking hillside down, that it makes me sweat. What made me quit it was the wolves attacking from behind in the forest. Almost soiled myself! :)

With Skyrim VR you have to have good framerate, otherwise it will be nauseous. Too many mods will tank it for sure... If motion sicknes is a problem, just train. Most people get over it relatively quickly. Just don't force yourself or there is a possibility of adverse effects.

Dunno, Skyrim is too much for me even though I am well accustomed to VR, even doing SRV at a Guardien site. But walking down hillside and dropping meters from rocks in Skyrim? Too much.
Ultimately, VR is simply the best experience for simulators, but for first person games... to me it is too much to be honest.

Hey, Pimax have sent me an invitation to CES for being one of their first backers. I can't remember how much I funded them for, it wasn't that much ergo is anyone else getting invitations, i.e. is this just cornflakes spam or should I be feeling privileged? Be a good start to the new year, meet my new Boss and ask immediately for time off.

I have no problem in Skyrim but I get sick in SRV... Though it did take me over a week to get my VR legs in Skyrim, which I did last Spring on PSVR. When I first started, I got so dizzy that I had to lay down for hours until it finally wore off! This is using natural movement, not teleport.

Am I reading too much into there being no mention of VR in the patch notes for the coming update? I hope not as ED in VR has such long term playabilty, it would be a shame to lose it- could it be the devs looked at the numbers before the announcement of HL Alyx and decided to go away from it just as its now getting a boost?
