I said as much myself - but did not appoint anyone to be my mouthpiece.

It is interesting that you highlight toxicity - yet at the top of the list of signatures Smiling Dog Crew - curious - a group who coerced the Devs over a change to experimentals by declaring 'war' on new players until it was removed... but obviously not 'Toxic'...

The creators of the 'Open Letter' would have been aware they only represented a sample of the community, yet still chose to be a voice for the whole community, odd!

Yes, this forum is toxic in places, over some very emotive topics it can be very toxic, but there are many interests discussed, with vastly differing views, I'm sure you have noticed such - I know I have.
I agree regarding SDC etc. Still, Frontier does listen to them more than the forums. That has to say something.

I'd be happy if the january update had just fixed bugs. Nope, it introduced brand new ones. CZ can't be completed anymore, progress bar just vanishes.

Indeed we did. Bug fixes are what we asked for in the Community Requests letter, alongside open betas (also back), and empowered Community Managers (there have already been improvements on this, and hopefully we'll see more).

It's great to see FDev constantly improving Elite Dangerous :)
Speak for yourself. Enjoy the year long bug fix. I can wait for content.

It was why I chose that as an illustration.
Frontier doesn't want negative publicity for any of their 'projects' if it is avoidable (understandably), hence why 'Influencers' will carry more weight in the 'community' than those who just carry on playing. SDC are 'Influencers' in their own right, even if a little notorious :)

The forum just has, in the main, a bunch of ordinairy folk playing the game for their own entertainment. (I'm deliberately ignoring those who do not play, or only 'troll' - we do seem to have a few of those) I suppose as long as those ordinairy players 'just play' they will wield no power in comparison to the few.

I was just being funny. I get the feeling from a lot of people's posts that a lot of the veterans have already quit playing and only check in intermittently to see if anything worth doing has been added

LEP holder here, I honestly can't remember the last time I've actually logged in. Between the lack of content mixed in with bugs, I decided I'd rather not spend any more time doing something that isn't fun. Elite Dangerous has so much potential, I honestly don't know how they've managed to squander the time and good will initually offered to them. From "Winter is coming" to "We don't want to waste your time", to Live Streams that show how little community managers actually play or understand their own product, it's deeply disappointing to see such a gem left as little more than a funding stream for other ventures deemed more important. Welcome to a world where shareholders are more important than players.

Fake news, thats not actually how it happened. Fdev just used that as an excuse because they probably were nowhere near ready to release it. If you go read that open letter, no where does it request an extended drought so that bug fixes can implement new and worse bugs.

Or... or

Just maybe the writers of the open letter didn't have the first clue what Frontier doing what they asked would actually mean for the game, and Frontier did what they asked in good faith anyway, and was entirely open about the consequences?

I don't see why, if it's not okay to read a request about stopping development to favour bug fixes into the open letter, then why is okay to read an intention to weasel out of a delay into Frontier's response?

that's easy. they were concentrating on making the company grow and attract investment, that's incompatible with focusing on a high quality product.

i has to be said, so far they have been quite successful and amply met their objectives. otoh, that has its price and the elite that could have been an actual elite game is an expendable sacrifice. sucks to be a fan. for the greater good.

i'm starting to really wish elite new era is a rewrite from scratch, hopefully even outsourced in the critical parts. i know it won't be.

meh, let the show go on!
