Watching the current livestream...

Yes of course but some general information would not be annoying.

Like and without going into details, "Yes we work on the planets with atmosphere" or others ...

Full lockout is not a good thing.

New DLC this winter, expect trailers and press stuff around then maybe a few months before or after x-mas.

Fleet carriers coming this summer.

It occurred to me the other day that when Frontier wanted money up front for seasons, they were quite able to give us general indications of what would be coming for the next year to eighteen months. It strains credulity to believe that is still not the case.

Interesting read :)

I don't watch the Monday streams, and only watched Thursday streams when there seemed new information or insight might be a possibility.

The viewing numbers do seem very low and factabulous seems to have a excellent point about ED stream schedules compared to other FDev franchises. Bit of best practice might help?

The stream are mostly not entertaining or informativ, i was disapointed most times. Most Standart youtubers do better. If they play its like "my first hour in elite dangerous" feel every time. Sad. I think if they want to improve they could theres mutch space left open

What I find sad about the livestreams is that they have smalltalk about their everyday lives and talk only little about the game. One would expect the game being the focus of a let's play from the official Fdev Youtube account, not so much private chatter.

Unfortunately, Ed Lewis was a likable presenter and a great CM. And I dont mean this in a mean or nasty way to the current CMs. I always give the live streams a shot, and then switch off after 10 - 15 minutes. I often feel like I'm watching Play School plays Elite Dangerous. Ed Lewis was in the same position but was able to react and engage on the spot regardless of content and his crap game skills were endearing and fun to watch.
The current CMs really do not have any on screen presence.
Thats not a dig at who they are, it maybe they need to really have a think about changing the format or improving on how they interact with the game. This is only a question they can answer themselves with reflection.
Obsidian Ant has no problems releasing content on ED when there is no content to reveal
DTEA has no problem unravelling the game and offering deeply technical content on how to improve your game.
Yamiks has no problem bringing the game to its knees in his scathing broadsides and yet still relays a passion for the game.
I could go on with Social Media content makers. Exigeous, The Pilot, Rusty Dog, Galactic Bacon, helloitskolo, Chaoswolf, scott manley, so on and so forth. My particular favourite being the Brocast podcasts and some of the more narrative based YouTube series.

There are many other Youtubers and live streamers that make this game anything but boring and lifeless.
This not a lack of content or the tight lips of Frontier developers.
Its just not all that entertaining and that is harsh I know.

You have it backwards. They weren't able to back then either. :p

Whether practical or not, it would be nice if they had something they could 'reveal' to sort of give them something to present and maybe time throughout the broadcast.
Though with the (re)introduction of betas, perhaps they could show off upcoming features/fixes to those who haven't played beta. Or perhaps a more up to date patched live version played on a local test machine.

Just little things that might help them seem a little less uncomfortable and might prompt more discussion with the stream itself.
Agreed! With so much supposedly being delivered in 11 months time, it would be nice to see monthly video updates soon (on the new content), would it not, to build up some interest in the game?

Horizons was announced four months before release (August 2015). The actual roadmap was revealed even later.

They tried that format, too many complaints about announcements about announcements and complaints about things that hadn't been announced but rumoured anyway. Why do you need new content all the time? Cant we have some vids that are about the content we do already have? Why do I need to know about a DLC coming after an update after a patch after a patch after a patch? That's literally 11 months away, what good would it do to speculate about it now? Whats wrong with showing the current content & gameplay.

All the CMs are professional, some of them just get carried away answering non-questions and trying to have a joke with or pander to the chat crowd instead of playing and talking about the game or subject as advertised and thinking about the potentially 10s of thousands who will watch later and turn off without learning anything. theres a reason the figure is that low after so many years, theres no reason it couldn't be a lot higher.

Amazing how different the standard of chat is when DB is on Ive noticed, no silly rubbish and nonsense, just pertinent chat and questions. Almost as if they've prepared for those ones and dont want to appear amateur.

I like the individuals I almost hate the livestreams as they are. Let Paige do one by herself with a silent chat moderator and see how that format works.

When it was announced they had general indications of what each part would contain months in advance of delivery.
Maybe you missed it, but I just said that Horizons was announced 4 months before release. My expectation:
Big 2020 gets announced in Summer (that's exactly what they did with Horizons).
They probably also plan several updates for 2021 (we don't know if these updates will be paid or free content) which will probably announced closer to the release of Big 2020 (which is also exactly what they did with Horizons).
It's like you don't have a point at all. ;)

The last good stream Frontier did was the one about the various sounds they use, that one got a lot of praise and it wasn't about new stuff, it just actually contained something of interest to the average ED player. If their streams were more carefully thought out and presented, even a history about David Braben's life in the games industry would be well received, and if that meant one video every couple of months, i think people would still prefer that, EVEN if there was no new content reveal.

Regarding the Youtube comments, yeah i hope they don't even bother reading them, because as you say they are doing their best with what they are given, which just like what we've been given, aint much. Imagine if you had to turn your own ED session into a livestream, lets say tonight. 'OOOOKK here i go,......out the slot there............hmm forgot my limpets....20 mins later OOOOOOKKK here i gooooo.....' when you think of that, they're doing really well.
