Star Citizen Discussion Thread v11

Just caught up to the latest law suit news, and what a bummer! I guess at least in the legal front Star Citizen and CIG are legit. Kind of made me wonder if CIG ever plans on working on SQ42 at all and if they knew all along they'll open themselves up to a law suit if they did release SQ42. It makes that investment and SQ42 planned release weird though.

My life is now reduced to this...cat butler

If we're going this route, my life has been reduced to getting portraits of my cats:

Woah, hold on. Remember, this is still the company with a dozen shell companies. They might be fine on the contract side with Crytek/Amazon, but how legit they are is still open to question.

Remember, they also claimed Tax Credits from the UK government for mainly making a game in England (SQ42), when in the past at various times we have heard that the UK office was all hands on deck helping out with SC... until they flip flopped and SQ42 became the focus.

Hi Surfoot, thank you. But what makes you sure that the rest of the game which need 64 bit precision isn't using it?
The quote from Ben makes it clear to me, that the areas where it needed are 64 bit.

Of course I see the wonkyness of physics but couldn`t this be related to other problems with the engine? I see Cryengine wasn`t made for what SC tries to archive and they still do workarounds to make things happen, like the ship in ship physics. I sometimes ask myself if they really can make so much more workarounds and customisation to CryEngine/Lymberyard/StarEngine that it will work somewhat flawlessly?
What is a taupe cobra??!?!?!???!?!?

Not sure about that. It feels weird. If this things are true with that license than I don‘t get what cig try to archive. They could have make this lawsuit gone earlier. Cig an open and honest company? Never.

Well, in the eye of the law, especially British law having shell companies isn't a thing worth investigating. I can't remember any company taken to court for having shell companies. Shady and untrustworthy, sure, but as far as I know completely legal. UK has a lot of tax free haven, there must be a reason for it.

I still don't like CIG but if the lawsuit gets dismissed with prejudice then I don't think CIG will have to account for anyting legally. I still don't like the company but really I don't like the man and family in charge of it. Worst, even if the lawsuit went Crytek's way the Roberts would still have the fortune they've accumulated from the project, which is what I have a problem with.

....... until they flip flopped and SQ42 became the focus.

Focus? Of what? The eye of the beholder? No, that was a game back then. SQ42 isn't even in development. Konzeptanschauung? It's a purely reflective and recepteive way of developing, I guess.
Concept - conception, huh, maybe their take on development is like "immaculate conception", eh?

It just manifests. Fiat game.
