Why Federal Corvette?

Yessir, I was giggling stupidly, flying in a rather steep canyon in my newly built Clipper speedster...until...I wasn't thinking quite far enough ahead of where I was. Oops...

First ship I've lost in a very long time. It was fun though. :D

I've never lost it, I have clipped the top of a cliff and instantly lost shields and took it down to about 10% hull though. The rebuy is only about 4m credits on mine, so who cares!

It's the ultimate in an armed and dangerous delivery mission runner (so long as you only go to large pads, that is). Those class 7 slots? Two cargo bays and a shield generator. Excellent PI harvester, too. Engineered to the nines, so it's even more quick, agile, and deadly. Even can sort of jump ok now.

It can hold its own in any CNB, HazRez or CZ.. PVE only, not currently tuned for fighting Thargoids nor PVP.

My ultimate 'armed trader' is one of my vettes. My python armed trader only gets used when I can't get missions to large stations or planets.

The Corvette is the first and only ship that made me set aside my Anaconda for everyday use. Now I use my Corvette for basic bounty hunting and farming materials. It just a fun ship to fly thanks to it's magical handling despite being the size of a small moon. And yeah the jump range blows, but not every ship can be as good as the Conda.

Don't get me wrong I still keep my Conda for exploration and heavy duty combat, but I find myself flying my Vette more often than my Conda lately. And everytime I switch back to my Conda I find myself missing my Vette.

I think we're all quietly living in fear of the day when FDev get around to making NPCs smart enough to run away when they're outmatched.

One of the reasons I have long-range laser turrets on my 'vette is for the times when I spot an enemy disappearing off into the distance.
I can target something like an iCourier or Eagle that's 5km away, start my turrets shooting at it and it'll turn around and fly back to engage me.
Cos that's obviously the smart thing to do, right?!
I do the same, and then I use my short range fixed beam laser as target practice on them until my turrets finally kills them... or I get lucky and then they are dead in seconds...

Corvette is gorgeous, I have an FDL and yes it could kill and tank but it was far slower than the corvette. I can rip an elite anaconda (NPC) in under a minute to shreds in the corvette.

It can run 3 beams indefinitely on a target, its got a most 30lyr jump range but it can tank 6 ships simultaneously whilst you pick off your attackers as well. Shield can restore fully in a few minutes (my fdl is centered around a prismatic and when that shield breaks its 24 minutes before it comes back).

for a large ship its very maneuverable I've run some black market smuggling missions and just barreled through the slot

Most fun in a ship since my phantom.. FDL damage output was just slow, it was safe but so slow.. or it is now in comparison

it has so many internal slots and option slots that you can basically configure it to do whatever you want.

its got some super nice paint jobs and kits I'll post a non purple tinted version tonight :)

Its so lovely I bought two!

That is going to be my role for it as well. I did some dueling in it, with my limited PvP skillset not comfortable being in something that feels like a maneuverable weapons platform, I ate a lot more fire than I am use to and feel its something that will be more rewarding when I am more advanced.

It replaces my Conda as my PvE battlefield mat collector. The placement of the class 4's is exhilarating my only real complaint is engine noise and boost being very muted sometimes giving me the impression I am not moving.

Get good at landing PAs on PPS and you can have them down in 15 seconds. Strip the shields and land your PAs on target, good chance of an insta-pop. If my Chieftain can do it, so can your Corvette! o7

That's what I have currently on my Anaconda, all PAs and 2 small feedback rails. It's just so much fun to throw the thing around and kill in unbelievable short time. Way more fun as my Corvette. And if I get bored of that or they nerf TC I put 4 Pacifiers and 2 PAs and the fun begins again.

Do you you use plasma slug? Wouldnt mind seeing your pa build.

They are all TC, with how heat damage works now it's supposed to be the best experimental. Once the plasma balls get big and fuzzy you know it's going to leave a mark (even on your own ship after a while). It's a weapons platform. I have a set of 6 LR TC Beams, a 5 rail setup, and a 4 pacifier 2 PA setup which can be changed easily. The 2 6a rapid charge SCBs can be double banked with each setup. After using it for a while I don't miss my Corvette and never bothered to get the rank for my alt account, it's just so much fun.

I get NPCs running away from my 'vette all the time in CZs. "Oh, you just ate my shields and half my hull in one pass. I think I see something way over there that I really need to check out". The ones that really me off are the Challengers and Commanders randomly rolling away into the distance with half their thrusters shot away at the same speed that I can go with my G5 dirty/drag thrusters with all pips and repeated boosts. The morons in the rez sites just seem to want to die though.

Is there anyway to mitigate your heat damage over time when using tc?

Uhuh.

I've chased an Annie something like 120km away from a RES after I realised it didn't explode when I thought it would.
It was already nearly 10km away when I noticed and it took me about 10 minutes to catch up with it.
I was in my Corvette, with 4 pips to engines and I could barely keep up with it (had to constantly boost) cos it was doing about 400m/sec.
When I realised it wasn't shooting at me I started to wonder what was going on and eventually realised it's thrusters were at 0%.
Presumably, I must have shot out it's thrusters just after it boosted so it just carried on drifting at it's maximum boost speed.

For me, the Corvette is not a genuine Elite ship, It is too big and powerful.

I cannot imagine Commander Jameson becoming a legend in a Federal Corvette instead of a Cobra MKIII.

I've decided that they're still doing this because I'm pushing them with my bullets and rail guns. the part that bothers me is when they wake out 2 kilometers from me rather quickly for some impossible reason
