Oh my....



Backers get hyped for the release of a ship. Everyone else is waiting for the release of a game.



Well, actually, not a even a complete system yet, and not full scale.



Built on decade old technology



Some that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars



For a game that doesn't have exploration mechanics



Of course they do. Got to tie everything in SC to something popular because it can't stand on its own merits.



As long as you don't want to go any long distances of course, since there is nowhere to explore



So, the exploration ship that will be used for combat or just derping around on.



Art driven design? Yup, that's CIG.



Well, exploration mechanics might be something that should be addeed first



But they are still releasing without any exploration mechanics, so this is pure poo poo

I could go on, but really, this is a pure fluff peice.
It was a bit cringeworthy reading it...I mean...where do they pull those idiots from to ask silly questions? There must be an idiot store somewhere with a ready made stock of them :rolleyes:
 
Ok, please explain:

a) why that ship is spinning like someone has turned FA off and pulled hard to the right

b) Why i see the same flashing icon 3 times in different parts of the screen. Is it so important i see the same information 3 times?

c) Are you stream sniping Sovapid?

The player chooses what is on those screens. I put them there.

Can get the same flashing icon 5 times in a different ship!

NEVER! (was carrack a streamer?)
 
No Sovapid in sight...so I took mine for a walk ;)

So far...it's as buggy as hell...won't sit still on it's landing gear and stuff doesn't work. Typical Ci¬G pushing stuff out of the door before it's ready. Let's hope they fix the damned thing before it goes live with 3.8.2.

CR's Physics Refactor
This one is very mysterious, I first heard about it at Citizencon 2018 chatting with devs. CR "has his own branch" where he's "been changing the way physics works in the game". Supposedly this will allow ship/ship ship/station docking, animated physics grids, use of >4 threads. etc. This likely interacts with/blocks the "physics queue refactor" on the roadmap feature that has set at 15/92 tasks for a year. One issue with the current physics system being limited to 4 threads is the server FPS (even with SOCS) could get choked. The last 2 months devs have mentioned "CRs refactor is in the game" (game dev merge?) and the last monthly report mentioned increasing the thread count for physics to 30+... so maybe this lands in 3.9?
