I’d like more commanders in the Open

One wonders why, if EVE is the be-all-and-end-all of space-game (for some people), why anyone who likes EVE would bother with this game?
It'd be foolish to say that ED has no merits and no one should ever play. But it's more foolish to deny just how big and important EvE has been for almost 3 decades (let that sink in for a second).

Edit: I meant 2 decades not 3, corrected xD

I can provide a link to the fact that I switched to PC and had my wealth transferred because the PvP community is almost completely dead and gone on xbox and the 3,000 active players I saw last Saturday on Steam isn't a very high number.

You dont need to answer that question. It was posed to you because he know you dont have access to that. Our resident volunteer has no argument here and knows it.

It's like saying: Joe Montana isn't very good at football anymore. But this pimpled high school kid can throw farther and run faster than him now.

Yeah. Montana is like 60. But his turds still achieved more than this little achne machine who hasn't done anything.

This is actually a great point about how engineers and inflated number values via engineers, and thus the spectrum of survivability in ships, from non combat to combat respectively, much wider.
Engineering widened the gulf between ships optimised for different roles - not that it was that narrow to begin with.

Eve is such a big deal that all other space games are obsessed with trying to be different. Such enormous -shade being cast. Bask in it bitches.

I don't think that anyone is denying anything about EvE (is it EVE or EvE, I have seen both?). It's clear, however, that the approach taken by CCP with their game has produced a game that not all players of this game would enjoy or even consider playing.

You guys need to get familiar with the term: Ad Hominem

Common defense mechanism. Nice try. This is all about Elite. Yes. Personality types tend to represent different points of view. There is nothing wrong with pointing that out. Toughen up and make valid points. Quit pulling the "getting personal card". Its a desperate attempt to derail the argument your losing and I'm not falling for it.

As I said, get familiar with it. It's more than "just getting personal". If you want, I can provide some examples from the last few pages and explain where the Ad Hominem fallacy is active.

Edit: I can't be losing an argument I'm not making.

Also spotted a strawman if you're interested.

Engineers are both great and awful. I love being able theory craft and customize my ship for my role. The problem is in the grind for new players (which is there because there's no ship loss, therefore you dont need to engineer multiple modules, therefore you need to make it extremely annoyingly grindy) and there is the horrible result of power creep which Guardian modules just doubled down on.

Loss solves all.

So do you have anything to add to the argument? Or are you still derailing?

See, this is personal, but not an Ad Hominem.

Listen darling, no one is forcing you to reply to me, and I don't need your aproval to post. :)

I enjoy it. My wife and kids are running around the backyard. I'm basking the sun having a beer and trying to get people to see the light on a game I'm passionate enough about to post.

This game has so much potential. It is being chained by Fdevs fear of giving people the freedom to utilize it.

Checked out EvE years ago, before I started playing this game. Nothing there for me, thanks.

There was a DDF member who was convinced that "the game would die" if Frontier didn't shift their design focus towards PvP (and remove Solo and Private Groups). Frontier are aware that not all players agree with their stance - and have been since the design was published over seven years ago.

Have you considered that other people are also passionate about this game, but have different preferences?

You call it fear, I call it common sense.

Darling, chief, son, big guy, boss, sweetheart, etc all the pot calling the kettle black.
Wot now?
