What other games are we all playing?

State of Decay 2 has been the current coop game of choice in my gaming social circle. The Xbox game pass version has all the DLC and the game is being actively updated. I guess the original release was botched, and so it's now established as a bad/broken game in the popular consciousness, but I missed all of that, so my only experience is with the (in my opinion quite good) current version.

Anyway it has better multicrew than Elite. Everyone can get in or out of the same car by walking up to it, and anyone can drive the car or sit in any of the seats, and each passenger has full control over opening and closing their own car door to sideswipe zombies during drivebys. Also all players can add waypoints to the map to help the driver navigate, and anyone can load/unload "cargo" from the trunk or add gas to the gas tank. Clearly a technological marvel, an unprecedented achievement in multiplayer gameplay. It's no wonder this was too high a hurdle for other, lesser games.

I played the original on the Xbox...looked at V2 but was put off, not only by the reviews but by wondering if I'd actually get into the game or not. I have Microsoft gamepass for my Xbox live subs etc so I'll try it out free on PC now I've seen a sensible review...thank you :)

I tried Stellaris today, which I haven't touched a a couple of years.
I thought someone had played a trick on me, deleted my game, and installed some other game.
Nope, there were a couple big patches that has changed most everything.
Played a couple hrs, saw that I was spending most of the game paused, and have turned it off.
Somebody has messed up Stellaris, but good.
Oh well, time to fire up Civ VI

I was just going to ask you about Civ. Which do you prefer more Civ (with race to space campaign) or Stellaris? Both are addictive af strategy games. But IMO Stellaris has a lot more layers given the forest - tree zoom on the fly capabilities while you're building your civilization/empire. Also did you play with the DLC or just base game?

btw: af = chat speak for as f*ck for you non Yanks :geek:

SynthRider just came out with a new DLC music pack, "Electronic Swing Essentials". Awesome! Such a fun game. Keep on playing "No strings attached" and "Butterfly". Drenched in sweat... 💦

I have a soft spot for Civ, esp Civ IV vanilla.
Stellaris was a great game. It's RTS, but since I'm paused so much, it may as well be sold as an TBS, like Civ.
I have 2 DLC's (to my surprise) not sure which ones.

I actually fired up Sins of a Solar Empire to get my space-RTS fix.

Civ probably. Stellaris is kinda obscure what does what. I've started dozens of playthroughs - never finished one. I can't really put the finger on it - it's about micro-management partly.

This. The micro-management starts right away. Every 10 seconds something's begging for your attention. * Ding * -pause- What? Oh, fine, research. * Ding * -pause- What? Go explore already! Etc, etc.
Also, I liked the world building better 2 years ago.
