Martin Luther King is well known for his, "I have a dream" speech. This sums up well the SC phenomena. A good number have bought into the dream and the dream will always be attractive until like a balloon there are so many air holes that there is nothing to keep the dream inflated anymore. How long it takes for that to happen is anyone's guess.

It's already deflating. Slowly.

Even if CIG completely collapsed some would continue to dream. They would start petitions to get the source code and assets released so they can finish the game (which they would be incapable of doing even if CIG could/would release it). They will offer CIG more money to reform to restore the dream or suggest CR start another kickstarter to give it another go.

Fools. Money. Soon parted.

Though none of us are privy to the data, how many people and how much was the average investment of the kick starters and such, who help launch ED. Which originally started in 1984 but didn't become the reality as we now know it until December of 2014, six years ago. And if one consider's all those years, and all those investments, why is it still riddled with bugs, glitches, and constant quandary as to when is there going to be new content.

Hello games got lambasted for basically releasing a game as gold when in reality it was still beta. They got a significant number of complaints and even some death threats. There action was to shut up and get down to business, with in a couple of years, their product has been perfected to the point it is today.

Other video game companies aren't stupid, if one can release a beta version as a gold vs, and then actually release patches and update until it's actually worth being called gold. Funding is easier to get, because, who want to invest for a five year project when they can receive the same return in a year or two. Does anyone really think RDR2 is actually a finished product when released on console let alone pc?

How much has the average player invested in playing ED in the past 6 years. Personally, I have a PS4 copy $60.00 not to mention 20 plus for cosmetics I spent. I have an Xbox copy another $60.00 not to mention 20 more for cosmetics, and a both a steam copy and an Frontier copy one of which was only $40 the other was $60 not to mention again, the 40 and more cosmetics. Do the math and that's $300 plus in a game that according to David ten year plan, isn't finished yet. I've got a whopping $150.00 in SC. And considering my play style, and the number of hours I will play, that's pretty cheap.

Star Citizen might be hitting 90M-100M$ of crowdfunding this year
It's not really crowdfunding, though. It's just regular sales.

That's a pretty spectacular new high for being wrong about off-topic numbers. Almost three full decades. Impressive. :ROFLMAO:

No, but unlike CI¬G, they are mostly honest, transparent, and in the business of making and delivering video games to the people who give them money.

Nothing about the world of business...far less the cesspit that is computer game production and especially marketing, is even vaguely honest whether it be Ci¬G or anyone else. That's not to say Chris Roberts isn't maintaining a giant ponzi scheme...far from it ;)

It's my greatest regret that CD Projekt Red didn't come up with the idea of Star Citizen... CEO Marcin Iwiński made a comment on the business side of CDPR that opened up a few eyes..."The driving factor behind how we develop games, price DLC or decide on pricing or content as a company is... can we stand up in front of a room full of gamers and justify what we've done?...If the answer is no, then we don't go there."

In fact original Elite was multiple published ready game. (Multiple, as it was done for quite a many platforms, like original BBC, C64, Spectrum...Atari ST, Amiga, PC and so on.) Frontier was published ready game, likewise Frontier First Encounters. In that regard ED is Elite 4, not really "same project running since 1984", except as in very wide terms. But if we take such stance, well then this project has published multiple times kind of ready games, unlike certain other project :D

What the hell is this nonsense? Are you feeling OK? The original Elite is a separate game that was released. ED is a separate game that was released.

Simple questions: Why didn't Chris reveal that Sandi Gardner was his wife until after people figured it out? Why is (or was) she pulling a director's salary?

I dont think it was meant serious.

Especially if the rumours are true and she finally pulled her final move (again) on Chris (again). :ROFLMAO:

It's more a case of excel-style automatic axis fitting: in order for CI¬G to even show up on the graph rather than be buried deep in the sub-sub-basement, the honesty axis has to be scaled such that honest and regular business dishonest merge into a single single measurement up at the top. :p

I hope not.

There is also the matter of spending money on a released game where you have the consumer protection you get when purchasing a product (as opposed to making a pledge) and how you can also criticise it without being told ITS ALPHA!

But aren't we all glad CIG are taking their time to make a buggy mess that can't be released rather than releasing a working product, that despite bugs (like just about any game) is playable and receiving content updates post release (accepting we would all like FD to release more content, more often, and in line with what "we" want).

In fact no. I would gladly have both playable as normal game SC and ED at same time on my computer. But well that is not going to happen. Likely SC will never be published, or it is published as "minimum viable product" meaning extremely buggy and with very sparse features.
