I find it encouraging that apparently, the worse an alpha gets, the more money it raises. I must find that BBC basic tutorial book and make the best darn game ever for the Acorn Electron.
I still think we should all collaborate on a ZX Spectrum Stellar Denizen :D

There is a guy using 'Dreams' (PS4's make-your-own-game game) to do something pretty incredible that has a real SC vibe.

First short vid is another YouTuber showing & commenting on this guys project, second longer vid is the creators livestream. It's pretty impressive.

What's more likely?

1. A 7 year old alpha that has consistently failed to deliver is making more money than ever

2. A marketing tool has been cranked up to give the impression that the project is not failing

If only there were another example or two of their wilfully and knowingly inflating “success” indicators that were key components in their marketing so it would be possible to establish a pattern of CI¬G being a thoroughly dishonest company that has long since abandoned actual development success in favour of pure marketing…

Hmm… Hmmmmmmmmmm…

I wouldn't even be that generous if I'm honest..SSOCS mixed with LTP...as well as various backend issues, transaction server, adjudicating server as well as account issues tied to all of these.

Ci¬G fired this freefly and patch out knowing full well it wasn't up to the task, they knew the current server architecture wasn't up to it either...the issues happening in the Live patch were exactly the same during PTU which had no freefly to bork things up....we told them it wasn't ready. Marketing and cash grab took precedence.

Yes......YEEEEESSSSS, you are almost there....just a bit closer to the darkness. Let the hate consume you old padawan :D

Now its just a small step further to get to "they know full well they cant do it but continue to promise things and sell ships". So proud :)

I can hear Yamiks' mind just melt at that point.

I'd love to know who would spend 35K on a game ship.

Obviously quite a few of those packages have changed hands but I also havent seen anybody own up to it so far. Probably too embarassing to admit you are in that deep.

You don't read many of my posts then Fritz? Been there and past it already :D

Quite a shame for a MMO set in a persistent universe that claims to be the BDSSE.

of course I do mate. And while sarcasm is a choice tool of yours for some time you only recently became quite blatant in your frustration. Cant be helped I guess but yeah, its sad to see this happen.

Okay, time for a proper 'review' of this week from someone who 1. Doesn't own Star Citizen/Sq42 pledges and 2. Doesn't have any 'skin' in the meet you round the back of the bike sheds game.

Visually and aurally I think it's really good and immersive, for example the Expo thing felt really like many of the Expos I've been dragged to through work such as numerous boat shows. They've got this bit right.

I managed to sit down and do a couple of missions, one being a delivery the other a clear the platform type one. Both were good fun and functioning, even if the AI was aimbot zerg rushing me on the platform one. I have to say I see the potential here.

I also played a normal space combat one and have to say, might be my system but I didn't get the same satisfaction as I did from Elites flight model, although this could be due to me not properly setting up my flight rig (I used M&Keyboard) for the game, so I'm reserving judgement for comparisons.

Managed to get a little bit of trading done, and like what I saw. Didn't get the chance to do the drug factory thing, which I really wanted to try, but hey ho.

I did suffer a few bugs and crashes, but nowhere near a level that rendered the game unplayable, apart from one day after a hotfix was applied.

Had a play with a few of the ships. Enjoyed the 'Space RFA Tanker' thing, the fuel probe area at its stern felt quite right, and look forward to seeing it being a part of any player groups meta, although at the moment can't see a need for it in game.

As a side note; after getting to fly one, I see zero point in the Argo MPUV. It seems too big to be carryable, and isn't even supercruise capable.

In conclusion: It's got potential, but still not something I'll be throwing money at for a while.

Addition: Which is a shame because (and I know I'll get a bit of flack for saying this), the idea of hanging around docklands and earning in game credits as a space-dockie guild/corp/fraternity and milking space whales for their virtual credits by helping unload their cargo ships amuses me a little. Game needs a powerloader, or a working forklift :D

Chris is way ahead of you:

With the Titan Suit arriving on the roadmap (Q4 2019) I wanted to collect everything we know to date on it.
Not much is known other than they had to go back and redesign the Idris hallways to allow a Titian Suit to walk its corridors.

Doubtless there’ll be a bulldozer too.

Okay... so I signed up for SC for this free-fly week just to sate my curiosity and most of it was so buggy and crashy all I could bring myself to do was take the hoverbus to the convention centre each day and look at the ships on display, then if it hadn't crashed by then maybe rent a couple and take them out for a (short) spin before it inevitably crashed (or I crashed the ship) and got fed up.
Initial thought... it does look pretty but so many things don't seem to work properly it's hard to know what you can realistically do and not do.

Today though, I've just finished a (probably three to four hour?) crash-less session where I managed to take the little loaner ship (Avenger?) right across the system to one of the other planets, do some sight-seeing and a mission to find some guy in a cave. Couldn't find the guy, but I found some valuable rocks and mined them, then took them to a place to sell them (I admit there was some Googling at various points to work out what I was supposed to do) this involved subway trains at some point - they do like their public transport in SC don't they? It was actually quite fun all in all.

Doubt I'll be doing much more though, the free access stops in a couple of days and having read and watched a lot of stuff about SC in the last few days I'm not particularly inclined to give them any money to continue 'testing' it. If they can't manage to finish it with the huge sums they already gathered I don't think they ever will.
