I'm glad they are being more open in communication. But I seriously doubt their capability to make this half as cool as people seem to think it is. I mean we have Fleet Carriers coming out and they are already pretty useless or not compelling gameplay and are credit sinks designed to bilk people. (Going from what we saw in Beta 1 and 2.)

And yet we forget all of that with a half way shiny teaser trailer. I will believe it when I see it.

I agree to a degree, Beta 1 was absolutely horrendous, and slightly alleviated in Beta 2 but still an off and online drain. It is a choice though, which I won't partake of at the moment personally.

I hope I don't need a carrier just to walk, but if you want it, it is there for you.

So it's going to be a first person adventure game with an equipment based ability system and FPS elements? And I suppose the jetpack will evacuate you should your vitals go critical.

ED is the only game worth the VR...Rest are children games.
There are no other immersive VR game on the market like ED. And god knows i am the first one to rant against ED.

I can name many. Elite is only one of multiple truly great VR games but it depends on what you want to play. If it's not your type of game, dismissing it as "for children" is short sighted and tbh, quite elitist.

Oh goody. I assume another paid for add on for vanilla ED like Horizions? Since you can get ED + Horizons and a few extras bundles together for £39.99 there is still a way to go to get VFM from my £120 lifetime pass paid in 2015!!!
As a lifetime pass holder I'm looking forward to getting access to all the paid updates the moment they come out without the need to pay at the time. That is what was paid for. Not the idea that expansions will remain at full price forever preventing others from joining. Now, if FDev released an ED+all expansions deal at a discounted price the moment Odyssey was was released you'd have a fair point I think. Do you think that would happen though?

The idea that lifetime pass holders could be disappointed that others eventually get access to the updates at a reduced cost is just weird.

I was speaking towards the graphical side of things. But it's not like engineered/Player opponents in this game manage to be less Bullet spongy than anything the Division offered.
That's right, and nobody liked that, and those were at least spaceships. And yeah we're gonna have the exact same thing with spacelegs, and if you think that's good, you're in luck.
But graphics-wise I don't know why you're even trying to draw comparisons. Unless you can at any time get into a spaceship and fly all the way out into a planet-level view of The Division; I don't see any reason to expect that Elite with its mostly proc-gen height-mapped barren environments, is going to be remotely comparable to what you see in The Division, which is visually impressive almost entirely due to artistry and carefully pre-built limited-sized environments which are viewed from a comparably small number of angles in an extremely predictable way. You might as well use The Last of Us as your point of reference at that point. It seems really silly.

Interestingly the Steam page for Odyssey says that you need the base game "Elite Dangerous" to play it, it doesn't say that you need Horizons to play it. So how do you land on a planet if you don't have Horizons? Or are the two environments (Space and Land) not seamlessly integrated?
Best guess is Horizons content would be included with Odyssey. But y'know it's also important to remember that Frontier are gonna fudge with this anyway, and there's no reason to assume anything on the Steam page is going to still be the same by the time the game comes out. Please remember that Horizons was once sold as an all-inclusive standalone package marked as "early access" when it first hit Steam, then quickly switched over to DLC "for" Elite Dangerous.

About the 4K, well it doesn't surprise me. A 4K monitor is expensive as biiiiiip. Not only you will need to pay an expensive monitor, but also the GPU that comes with it. A bit like VR.
New hardware in development? For gaming? Any source for that?

Las ttime I cheked there where projects on the works for game compatible VR, and nothing high end, as it would be required to play Odissey without a pucking bag at all times. ( who am I kidding, you'll puke even with a high end VR set).
I've both 4K & VR...
Dunno where you got the Puking idea from, do you have VR, or just going from gossip?

Maybe it is just you would be puking... so don't bother playing in VR if you get motion sick that easily.

I have never puked when using VR. Alien Isolation is great in VR. Half Life:Alyx looks great too. There are many other games that are good in VR.

Evening commanders,
I have posted a couple of replies tonight and read most posts. Both inane and pretty reasoned. I have been a voice of reason and fence sittery.

Right my Cynical bit.
Fleet Carriers are not for me and I was sorely disappointed for a number of reason..and...This is a very timely leak/release.

I am looking forward to it though all the same.
Has anyone else noticed that the timeline is already pushed from 'Big Update In 2 and a bit Years (late 2020. OUTRAGE) to Early 2021?

But do you remember to put your 'Brown Trousers' on when playing Alien Isolation? Important question 🤣
Alyx is great! Boneworks is pretty good, Lone Echo is the motion sickness canceller...

Don't forget your space ship flying and SRV/s which for some bizarre reason people seem to think disappear and you can only walk everywhere when this will be released.
I am going to equip my jetpack with a frame shift drive and from then on go everywhere on foot. Yes. Spacelegs. Literally.

Yep, extra content for Griefers and Gankers, expect as you little squad crew of 3 leaves your ship or multicrew SRV , that a Griefer mows you all down with multicannons from 200m above, safely in their Krait mk2.
I'll return fire with my BFG.

Awesome news!
I'm just wondering if these planets will be the ones we can currently land on or if there's new places to land.
Stealth gameplay?
Very good excellant!
I hope there's space derelicts to explore too!
Looking forward to more news!
