I never argued that VR isn't niche. It absolutely is. We can happily agree there.
Just to add to this, I'd like to point out that it is a rapidly expanding niche, which is a very good sign for us VR users

It can work in FPS, but its not very good. Cockpit VR is the bees knees, but trying to make ED work for VR in FPS is a total waste.
Bro you can think what you would like, but you absolutly did try and say it was not nicheJust repeating your niche opinions isn't actually an argument mate![]()
It was, but I raised it as a simple example to disprove your assertion that "VR for first person shooters is very very gimmicky and is just not there with the technology to be viable."
Which makes that statement really weird considering you did try and say it was not niche. So im not sure why you are contradicting yourself in the matter of a few posts, but you seem to be.I never argued that VR isn't niche. It absolutely is. We can happily agree there.
I only play this game in vr. I upgrade from Ps4 to PC ainly to play elite in VR. If Odyssey doesn’t support Vr I’m out. Hope Frontier say something soon.
Hey i agree at least with VR for ED being really cool and fun, but, VR for FPS, woof, pass i dont want ED to suffer and be designed as an on rail shooter for the sake of VR. Ported to VR? sure down the road.

But devoting development time for a niche market on a game like ED is an absolute waste of time, considering that the game needs more content in general, not a niche subset of content.

Im hoping that as well, i would love a far better VR immersion to it, but the biggest barrier of entry is the cost, looking at over 600 bucks for even the most basic of setups.Unfortunately have to agree with you here. Will be great if they make it work, but from the clip I saw, this isn't basic FPS on rails animation like NMS and many other games. Unless they have really put the work in, it would be completely nausea inducing, I have tried many VR games, only a few got it right when it comes to moving about.
Still early days, I do hope we can get a seamless VR experience. I think the new MS sim will be taking up a lot of my time, combined with atmospherics exploration in ED. Think I'm sorted for the next decade as far as gaming goes, not that bothered about VR FPS

Earlier you said that VR and VR shotters are not niche the things i linked showed that even the top VR games were not shooters, they were in top sellers but also were being beaten out by beat saber. Even Alyx the most impressive VR game we have, FPS, is beating out by other styles.Where?
The Oculus Rift S is a GREAT headset, and it cost far less than 600 bucks.Im hoping that as well, i would love a far better VR immersion to it, but the biggest barrier of entry is the cost, looking at over 600 bucks for even the most basic of setups.
Its stupid the cost, which for most is the biggest barrier of entry, the second barrier being the space needed for it. Which honestly you could make the argument thats an even bigger barrier of entry.I wont even go into how much my total setup cost, and I'm still looking to upgrade a few things.
I have been keeping an ear to the ground, but with corona a lot of them sold out and i have not checked if they are back in stock. The Oculus Rift S is a GREAT headset, and it cost far less than 600 bucks.
Also, thanks to Oculus Link, Oculus Quest is now compatible with any pc, making even that headset a possible choice when playing with system demanding games. If you're interested in VR I highly suggest you to check them out.

IIRC i was hearing rumors that i think HP? HTC? i dont rember the company but they were putting out a new VR headset taht was gonna be cheaper then the index. or occulus rift.
Yeah I was thinking on upgrading from rift s to hp reverb g2 this fall, looks promising. What’s your gpu? I have a 2070 but I’m not sure that it will be enough with the reverb higher res...I've got the HP reverb, visually stunning, and the new version sorts out the quirks
