FPS Gameplay with the current Frontier P2P networking tech will be a sight to behold.

The only thing I am wondering about at the moment is support for explorers, everything at the moment seems to be aimed at PvP and FPS, but I am sure we will get more info later. I was expecting atmospheric landing, not so much legs so that's good, but what about life bearing landable planets, so far all we have seen is a barren landscape but it's still only the first trailer and there's plenty of time yet before 2021.
You see a ship flying towards the planet, you see ships flying in the atmosphere of the planet. Also the game isn't a game about flying your ships. Flying your ship is just the main activity and I don't think that will change when this gets released.
Instead of uninstalling, why don't you just not buy the new update instead, as you're obviously not that interested anyway. The main game and horizons will still be there. I don't understand while you would instantly uninstall when you don't need to buy it.
I'm also hoping for some exploration gameplay. We'll have to wait for a bit more info, the blurb is very basic and the teaser doesn't show much.

Yeah. Given what they've announced, ie, with ship interiors / eva being noticeably absent, it does feel like horizons 1.5.
They haven't announced base building either, so see what happens.
Unless frontiers marketing has totally changed how they operate, at least we know that the ground based fps content is all they have finished / are committing to finish.
Having said, horizons 1.5 does feel wholesome.. maybe space legs is more like beyond for horizons.
I would say New Era is the novel and Odyssey its first chapter. Fleet Carriers may be a prologue.
It's not a CGI video, it's rendered from the in-game engine. Also read the blurb.
Also if this is just horizons 1.5.. it matches with previous releases of "what we would imagine" and "what frontier delivered". Eg, what did you imagine for passengers? What did we get? What did you imagine for thargoids (2.4?) What did we get? What did you image for space legs? We're getting horizons 1.5. Spot on.
Oh, sorry well you can't yet.
Here's the difference between being able to play a game in development and waiting 6 years before you can play a developed game.

Hey i didn't mention Star Citizen. That thing is just foul now anyway its out of scope. Its a weird cult. The game exists when they tell us, nothing else.
Also i don't think frontier were running on fumes for 6 years giving us alpha patches. Its a function of their style and ability that we have what we have. They have 3 full release titles from the same company / people in the same offices since then so i don't think proposing that elite would be held back until next year otherwise is the correct mindset.
To be fair, that video clearly stated that it is NOT in-game footage.
This new one claims it's in-engine.

That is what graphical and LOD settings are for. My 7mhz Amiga ran frontier and so did a top of the range pc with more eye candy and better frame rate. The only thing stopping it working would be ram but both PS4 and XB1 have a reasonable amount of that so I see no reason at all why they can't run any game which could.ever come out on pc..... It just won't look as nice or have as good a framerate
There is certainly an intermediate path with the monstrosities of NMS.
Other publishers have made planets with flora and fauna in space games.
Most Cmdrs don't ask all the caracteristics.
Just a little green, water, blue sky, clouds and some animals.

Disappointingly, they seem to have forgotten the macOS client once again!
That is not a disappointment, that is a given!
In its current state Mac simply is not a very capable game computer. It is seriously limited in what it supports. As far as I know FDev have given up on them.
Mac is fine for a bit of gaming, but it does not support the serious stuff. And technology wise Elite definitely is serious stuff as far as gaming is concerned.
On Digital Trends I read that Mac is planning to bring gaming back to the Mac, but in a deliberate, limited fashion. They might even incorporate AMD’s Navi graphics chips into future Macs.
As you say, we will see when the time comes.
I have always loved Frontier trailers.
But now I'm more wait-and-see.
