I'm not sure about you, but I am a customer, that paid money to get a product. Nobody GAVE ME anything for FREE.

Thinking about it, ED may well be the first game | flight sim ever that actually dropped VR support instead of adding it during its lifecycle. A historic achievement!
But then, I still remember when Ultima Raider seemed to be a good idea, but actually was the end of the story and still leaves a bad memory of the entire franchise.
That settles it for the day. Yes I know VR will still be in Horizons, but we all know how that will turn out.

A lot of people came to play Elite because of VR in the first place. For some people, Elite Dangerous is a VR game. Essentially they are being told, "you are not part of the expansion". Call it moaning all you want. I call it justifiable outrage.
And if you have the mindset of "if u dun liek it unistall". Then how about this? If you don't like the reaction in this thread then GTFO.

They didn't indicate that they would re-implement VR. I don't think they will. Considering how long it will take from the last major update; Horizons. By Spring 2021, that will be over five years. If you look at the implementation of Multi Crew, do you imagine they would somehow find a way of getting 'Space Legs' to work in VR, if they haven't managed to by now?
I could be wrong. As it's such a major update, they may not be working on anything else for some time, so that might free up the team to concentrate on VR. Given what I've seen since 2014, I doubt it though.
I blame Samsung.
This thread has caused me to go from not caring about VR to hoping VR players get locked out of new features. Then the rest of us can actually discuss the game.

IF they end up doing that, I think they will be the first. It's too early to assume that's what they are doing though. We're probably at least another 7-10 months out from the launch or beta. More information will be available between now and then.
Wont be buying this. What complete and utter nonsense. NMS has VR support, but Elite which was a pioneer of it won't support it going forward? Lazy. If that game can support multiple platforms and pc and vr play, don't see why elite can't either. Let the devs off the leash and let them make a proper expansion.
You might actually have a point there. It looks like the 'VR guy' has upped and left FDev. The completely broken mining update already gave me that idea..

Investment by definition is "investing money FOR PROFIT". I just threw money at them because I WAS a fan and wanted to see many more features developed for my favorite VR title, which I bought exclusively to play it in VR.Silly me I guess.

Lots of people have put a lot of time and money making sure their PCs can support ED in VR. A game some have played in VR for years. So I hope you can see why players would be upset when this is taken from them in an update we were all looking forward to. I understand some people cannot play for health reasons, or they cannot afford the hardware. Maybe you fall into one of those categories. Or maybe you're just the selfish, smug "I'm alright Jack" character you come across as.

Except for those like myself; Premium Beta, and players on Lifetime Expansion Pass, who's client automatically updates itself. There would have to be a rollback function. Not exactly getting what was paid for though, is it?

- No VR - no prob - I don't own one and never planned to.
- No base building - no prob - never cared.
- Walking around in our ships and in station/base interior - If not possible I'd be partially disappointed.
- Atmospheric world variety: If only mars-like arid worlds with very low atmo pressure and not at least titan-like worlds with some liquids and some short of cloud+weather systems, I'd be mostly disappointed. I am not expecting ELWs, water worlds and ammonia worlds with flora and fauna (at least not at launch). But some variety is essential. Mars-like desert worlds with very low atmo pressure will quickly become boring.
Then you would just launch the Horizons client, not the Odyssey client. The Odyssey expansion isn't going to break the other modes of play.
