ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Announcement

I have few questions regarding the current state of Odyssey and based on this first announcement video.
Maybe CMs could answer for some of them? Would be nice:

-How exiting the ship will look? - transition with black screen or short animation, or both? - like with SRV now.
-Can we exit the ship inside SRV and then exit the SRV and stand on the ground while SRV will stay empty nearby?
-Can our NPC crew member leave the ship with us? (we see a girl in companion in teaser video)
-Will our NPC crew memeber be present with us in our ship cockpit?
-What kind of atmospheric planets we can visit in Odyssey? (ice, wateworlds, ELWs, volcanic, desert, barren?)
-Whan will happen if somone shot us down when we're on our legs? - (rebuy screen or we will go back to ship, or something elese?)
-How to understand our presence outside the ship? Can we get wounded or unconscious? Or it will be some kind of 'virtual' presence: hologram, avatar or even a clone of our commander?
-What improvement of planetary surfaces can we expect? - dust, fog, water, rain, snow, wind?
-Will 'space legs' be the acual new mechanics/system for walking and doing stuff or only simply different HUD and appearance model? I mean in SRV we see HUD, cabin around us and SRV model. SRV rides fast and we can shoot from the turret. I hope that 'space legs' aren't just helmet around us, different HUD and model of our commander which can shoot from the rifle scope instead of turret camera. And he changing place just slower than SRV and just with animation of moving legs.
-Can we expect picking up things to our hands, dropping things, running, crouching, talking, making gesture like waving or shaking hands, hiding behind objects etc?
-Will interactions with people and places be dynamic and interesting with new mechanics and animations? Or something like: walk > black screen > some kind of menu > klick some options > black screen > walk?
-Can we expect walking in interiors? Like entering to ground bases and starports?
-Will other places be populated? Like ground control staff on landing pad, flight control staff, ship outfitting staff etc.
-What kind of interaction with other commander can we expect with 'space legs' different than shooting?
-Will Thargoids also get 'space legs' for their infantry?

edit Added:
-How low G and high G will affect our walking?

Frontier still way behind the current offerings of Hello Games NMS then. How that little team is putting you to shame. And they give their hi-tech development skills away for free. Come on Frontier you can do much better. Why are you NOT doing much better? Who in your top jobs is holding you back? What business decisions are being made that compromise advancement? Dare I say you are becoming a complacent team of paint job artists rather then holding your heads high as tech-advanced cutting-edge coders.

Yep! A game split in half. In one part your are in your ship and the planet is the backdrop. In the other you are on the planet and your ship is the backdrop... No interaction between the two...

Given the known development timelines for Odyssey and the fact we know for sure there's a new graphics engine under the hood, I think its more logical to conclude that Odyssey is a Star Citizen inspired rewrite of the base game from the ground up, including all the legacy gameplay components.

I cant see any scenario where FD would think its a sensible idea to bolt on a separate and distinct FPS game to Horizons and try and pretend its an expansion.

They never said it wasnt coming in a later patch it said it wouldnt be "at launch"!!!!!
I wonder if it will become before or after PSVR, multiple SRVs, different planet types to land on (only had to wait 6 years for that horizons teaser) ... Or a bunch of other content in ED that was not coming at launch but was being actively worked on or investigated.

If any of the CM's are still reading I have a genuine question ...

Will people in VR still be able to fly space ships around beneath a blue sky?

In other words, at what point is VR not supported? Is it when you enter glide for an atmospheric world, when you transition to "legs", or when you launch an "Odyssey" version of Elite?

As a VR player I can accept not to be able to play the "legs" part of the game in VR.
The best solution would be:
1. I purchase Odyssey
2. At the launcher I can launch Horizons with new planet tech, atmospheric planets, new light engine and so on. No Legs and no additional features related to Legs.
3. If I want to play the full Odyssey experience I launch instead Odyssey witout VR.

So here I simply ask to integrate atmospheric planets in Horizons once I purchased the Odyssey expansion.

Quite pointedly, they also never said it would be coming in a later patch.

And the history of broken promises from FD leads you to believe that it will never come. I get that.

But just ignoring that for a moment, and talking specifically about the language used by FD - it's not surprising that they don't commit themselves - its standard practice for Community Managers to be cagy - it's in their job description.

CMs commit quickly when they can, for example they confirmed that LEPers will be getting Odyssey at no addition cost very quickly.

I haven't, not properly at least but I can imagine that it is a revelatory experience.

But here's the rub - FD is not taking away that revelatory experience you have today. You can still play horizons in VR - it is simply that Odyssey won't support it at launch.

So, yes the VR community have been sidelined for the moment - probably for commercial reasons. Most likely its because they want (or need) to get the game out earlier than releasing the game with VR support would otherwise allow.
It's like night and day.

Sadly this model seems to rely on your most loyal customers being your most unsatisfied customers. But in business, I guess, sentiment is only useful to a company if it converts into cash.

This is why I buy nothing to 'support' Frontier or the development of the game, just what I can gain utility from. No sentiment on either side now.

Sadly this model seems to rely on your most loyal customers being your most unsatisfied customers.

This is exactly it.

My advice* is to enjoy ED as you find it- I greatly enjoyed ED when it was actually hard, with no credit fountains, writing for GalNet, Powerplay (ans seeing that community grow) and that the dev team were comfortable enough to post with us norms.

*I will play the hypocrite though, in that I will wait until more info appears about Odyssey and the support FD will show to EDs existing features to make the game 'whole'. But I don't have unending patience and Odyssey is the end point for me.

Greetings Commanders,

Thank you for your overwhelmingly positive response to the announcement of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. We’ve been really excited to share this and it’s amazing to see that you all feel the same way!

This is just the beginning and we will be sharing more details and information in the coming months that you can look forward to.

We’re seeing all your streams, videos, posts and questions and, today, we wanted to answer a few for you straight away:

Is Elite Dangerous: Odyssey coming to VR?

Currently, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will not be VR-compatible at launch. We’re big fans of VR and we are truly proud of the amazing experience that we currently offer in Elite Dangerous. However, the new gameplay, mechanics and features that will be introduced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey means that we had to re-examine if we could deliver that same experience without compromise, which, for launch, means Odyssey will not be VR-compatible.

Will there be Base Building in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey?
Base building is not currently on the roadmap for Elite Dangerous, however we have plenty of new features planned instead such as on-foot exploration, new planetary tech, social hubs, combat as well as more to be shared later on! We’re looking to put our best foot forward with Odyssey and if you’d like an overview of what to expect, you can check out the website or Steam page.

Will Elite Dangerous: Odyssey be included in my Lifetime Expansion Pass?
While Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is a paid expansion, we're happy to confirm that yes, this expansion will absolutely be included in the Lifetime Expansion Pass for free.

Stay Safe, Commanders o7

WHAT ? Are you saying that you are going to remove a feature from the base game that is VR?

Or are you saying that the VR is disabled when I get off the ship?

Are you saying that you are going to disable one of the best options that the game currently has? Do you know that a lot of people play VR including me? but are you not going to do anything right in these 3 years?

if you take away an option that came with the base game I will claim the money from the game the dlc and all the skins even if I have to sue you
