Oddly, in distinguishing myself as not being an endlessly grinding fool, I was not referring to you, but wear the shoe if you like it.

By the way, for FDev's benefit, let's just play this out. If there is even a perceived compatibility or netcode issue, every playergroup is going to tell all their members to run Horizons whenever possible, to avoid creating problems for their remaining dedicated VR users.

This whole debacle is a truly sad state of affairs, and FDev's involvement in the space sim business will is already set to go down as one of the dumbest moments in gaming history. Right up there with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (video game), but without even the shadow of an excuse.

This actually brings up an interesting point. FDev are abandoning VR, right as proper hand and eye tracking are becoming available for VR. These would have been an amazing fit for the menu systems of Elite Dangerous. Very sad.

Totally agree. They claim no VR at launch, but we'll see. I would definitely prefer some form of gloves over touch controllers. I have a VR flight sim called Aerofly FS 2 which allows for using all the control surfaces in a plane's cockpit and it's clunky using touch controllers....haptic feedback gloves would be the better solution for this. Especially since you need to be able to also use your HOTAS for flying and whatnot. Because I'm not going to sit there for hours pretending to hold onto a yoke or stick.

There's no confirmation that they are doing that. "No VR at launch" is ambiguous, sure, but you're now choosing an answer and confirming it in your own head. What happens when you're wrong? Will you come back to admit you were too hasty or will you cover it up and say that the pressure forced them to 'come around to the right decision'?

Be upset that they won't confirm support at launch, but don't assume they are abandoning support from here on out. You're giving yourself undue stress.

Get real. Even if FDev does leave VR support as-is for the forseeable future, they are obviously abandoning the opportunity to make future additions to it. Added to that, FDev's track record is among, if not, the industry's absolute worst both for empty promises and for apparent lack of even trying.
