VR support 'not at launch' for Odyssey

I've been playing ED in VR since my dk1 in the first alpha when it was added as a bonus

Im sorry but with all that's going on in the world you have to be in a special position of privilege and entitlement to moan about a paid DLC not supporting it on launch for additional gameplay you don't yet have much info on and might not even want to play.

It's the same as a console player complaining about content launched for the PC first

Also this idea that VR players don't own a monitor is absurd

That is all, back to the moaning...
I can be upset about the state of the world and a paid DLC at the same time thank you so very much, I can even be upset about someone being upset about me being upset about a paid DLC while being upset about both said paid DLC as well as the sorry state of the world.

also I do have a monitor, a very nice monitor even but I still would like to play Elite Odyssey in VR if it's all the same to you.

Yes you can, change the display option without even exiting the game. Works just fine.

You can, but you won’t be able to in Odyssey seemingly, as it won’t support VR. I believe that’s the point.

We could do with clarity as to whether certain Odyssey additions will come to core + Horizons. And so be accessible in VR.

Some guys seem to be assuming that they can load Odyssey, fly in VR, and then toggle it off for Legs. That would appear not to be the plan at the moment.

I hope we do get VR added after launch, as we can't have it at launch :)
I'm a little upset at how upset you are about things that upset the upset folk upset about the apple cart containing VR being upset...

I only play elite dangerous inside VR, the only reason i switched from Xbox to pc was for this game in VR....i held off as long as i could in the hope that Microsoft fulfilled their original promise in bringing VR to Xbox.

we all know how that went....but if i have to keep putting on and taking off my rift just to walk around planet that will be the first ever deal breaker for me when elite dangerous is concerned, as for "mouse and keyboard" controls, i really think this is a poor excuse to not have it VR compatible, most people who have VR have a controller of some sort.

Elite dangerous in VR as it stands now is best suited for a controller of some sort, either a gamepad or a hotas, and i don't think a mouse and keyboard is the best option for VR

this could also be moved to the odyssey update, are we only going to be able to use a keyboard and mouse to play or will we have the same customizable binding as the base game and horizons? the only thing in my opinion that needs to be VR at release is the view, i bet 99% of CMDRs would agree....the control system could then come at a later date, i don't think we really need the touch aspect of vr to enjoy what it has to offer, although that would add so much more.....going from VR to flatscreen would completely ruin the game, and i am not entirely sure how that would work......

put on headset and fly to system
supercruise to planet
Land on planet
get out of CMDR chair.....VR GOES OFF
take headset off and use flatscreen to walk to SRV
get into SRV....VR back on...
put headset on drive to a location
get out of SRV.......VR GOES OFF
take off headset and use flatscreen to walk around......

this would be a complete ball ache.....not to mention when i play elite the window on my monitor is never full screen so would always be playing the update in a downed, window.... I have never complained about elite dangerous, sometimes wondered why and whatfore but i have always been positive and love the game since i first played it.....but this is definitely a massive step backwards....hopefully the VR community within elite push for this to be changed. All VR would need is the view and tracking....this i pretty much all elite dangerous has anyway....

If I was a being cynical, I'd suggest that maybe Frontier are following a previously travelled route. The decision is made, for whatever reason, that a particular group of players will no longer be supported long term. Rather than immediately ejecting that group, you exclude them from the next significant update.

The effect is that platform is left behind by those that have been updated. Support for the platform that is unable to match the others dwindles with users either leaving altogether or switching to platforms that do support all of the game content. Frontier will then point out that support for this (inferior) platform has dwindled, so sadly, it will be ejected from Elite Dangerous altogether.

A sorry tale for users that paid the same amount for the pleasure of using ED as everyone else. Of course Frontier are entitled to do this, I just can't for the life of me think why they should be supported in doing so.
I have no idea if it is true but I really want it to be so am gonna cross fingers. It's all a gigantic bluff to get some of that juicy Facebook money.
Look at it this way IF odyssey is not Vr supported every person who bought ED on the oculus store are completely screwed.
I can't help but think oculus won't like their customers getting a bum deal compared to steam customers.... Not if they want those players to continue buying apps on their store any way

So you are confirming VR is coming just delayed from launch? I think that needs to come from the Devs because other "not at launch features have not appeared in 5 years.

As for all that is going on in the world.... Seriously get over yourself. This is an ED forum so every issue is within the context of ED. Your logic is that anyone can do what ever they want to other people so long as there is something worse elsewhere

FD turn the servers off and call it a night......... Don't complain because somewhere there is a war going on..... That makes no sense.

If a Business potentially alienates 20% of it's Customers the Main Boss has gotta ask Why? That's a huge number to risk losing business from, ergo whomever made the decision either needs to re-work that decision or yes....be fired, the loss of wages of that one person is more than likely a whole lot less than the potential loss from that 20%. In business harsh decisions have to be made, people get fired for less than this!
I like when statistics pulled out of one´s rear all of a sudden become fact and gospel. Did you know 80% of stats are made up on the spot?

So what happens Viajero. Does the head honcho come in on Monday morning and say "Well, what did they say?" and you say "The VR guys are fuming" and he walks away shaking his head  How does it work?
