Coming Holidays 2020 - Planet Coaster: Console Edition on Current and Next-Gen Consoles

Of course there are probably a lot of people who just play PC, and aren't interested in this version. But there are a load of people who only game on consoles, and are extremely excited for this. All I see over on the Planet Coaster Twitter is people begging for a release date!

Even though I play mostly on PC, I will be picking up the console version to be able to sit back on my sofa and still play.
I know Bo is excited to be able to play at home on her PlayStation. :) Its a great thing for the community!
The excitement is real, as some people say :D

I won't be buying the Console Edition myself simply because I do not own a console, nor plan to get one in the near future, but I do look forward to see all of the new players that can finally enjoy the masterpiece called Planet Coaster, which was previously reserved for PC players only.

Well said; it's a great thing for the community! :)

Same here! :D

So excited for the people who play on consoles, but didn't they say that there was going to be an update for pc. version with tons of stability fixes and fps boost during the release for Consoles???

EDIT: I went back and read through the comments on the first topic about consoles and I missread Bo's comment.

Not that I know of. I thought they said, they were going to do a big pc stability update along side the Console release???
If I remember correctly, nothing has ever been confirmed on this, other than the fact that the team have been focused on the console version, which might explain why things have been very quiet for the PC version! Hopefully PC will get a QoL update after the console edition's release but only time will tell. :)

I believe I found the post that I'm thinking of and missread it. Dang, I was really hoping that they would give us a bigger stability update, because for me that has a huge park it's nearly unplayable for me and with Thememaker Toolkit it takes forever for Planet Coaster to load up.

Although I wanted to play this on PS4 waiting to play it on ps5 will be even better. Thank you for the update.

Any chance psvr will be a possibility on the rides? Here is to hoping.

No thoughts about the release delay to the end of the year? Or am I missunderstanding that...

So no time for any uptates for the pc version untill somewhere in 2021 (programming PC ce till the end of this year and fixing bugs early 2021)?

It's very sad how they're handling with the community.

Frontier synchronise major updates across all platforms in both Elite Dangerous and Jurassic World Evolution. There's no reason to suspect they'll do anything differently here.

I wouldn't however expect much more than the new tutorials, the new gamepad control scheme and some further optimisations to make their way to PC at this time.

I think this is a case where Sony and Microsoft have asked (demanded of) Frontier to delay until the new console releases. As they are set to release late this year, all Frontier can do is follow that line.

In regards to the updates for PC players, I hope they focussed on optimizing the game for consoles and applying the same optimization to the Windows version. Other than that, I hope we can continue with updates after release of the console version. There is so much more to be done with the game.

I doubt Frontier is withholding its nearly finished port until the console manufacturers are releasing their next gen consoles. They could easily release it now for current gen and participate in the backwards-compatibility programs of both platforms when the new generation arrives. Either via a free patch or the Bethesda/ Rockstar route of re-releasing another paid version.

That's also a possibity.

Happy that those who play console will get an opportunity to play PC on them!

I'm really hoping that when they ported the game to console that they took the time to complete what's missing from the current game - the incomplete themes, missing roof pieces and walls. the many things others have mentioned here - and they in turn make those available for the current game. This many years later and the game still feels incomplete in my opinion.

I'm not as hopeful that the same access to TMTK items will be available. That part of the game has sadly been pretty much ignored even though it helped to fill in the missing bits of the game.

We'll see what happens. I'm sure even if it's just the current base game ported to console it will still be fun, but I also think some will quickly again find it lacking in some areas.

If Nintendo comes up with a next-gen console that has similar hardware capabilities to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, then maybe Planet Coaster could get ported there, maybe with a Mario pack exclusive to this version.

Like I told you in the other thread...
Nintendo don't need high end hardware.

If Nintendo comes out with another next-gen console, then maybe Planet Coaster could get ported there.

Never ever....
Nintendo was, is and will be a console for mainly Mario and Pokemon style games.

Nintendo's audience in general has no focus on high end games.

With the delay of the release of the console version, does that mean no new official content for the Windows version this year? At the end of this year it will be a year and a half with no new dlc content. That’s a long time to keep players hanging wondering if the current game will continue to be supported with new packs. Especially ride packs since we can’t create/import new working rides ourselves. We’re stuck with what we have until a new DLC comes out.

I would have bought it for PS4 this summer but since they wait till PS5 there are other PS5 games (and console) I plan on buying at that time instead. I am sure there are other that feel the same. Why release a game during a time with the most competition in market?

They have literally stated they are withholding the release for next gen consoles....not sure how you read anything else in that.
