Notice Fleet Carrier Update - Known Issues

I hear you. I've shifted my focus to my alt account for the time being as thankfully most of the rest of the game still works.

The paint job issue really ticks me off a lot more than it should, but unlike all the other bugs there's real money involved and can't use them since the latest "patch" went live. I don't understand how FD haven't at least provided a quick comms update on this, let alone release a hotfix for it already. Hope it'll cost them some Arx sales at least.

Should they even be allowed to sell those paint jobs for real money when they don't work? I wonder what Sony would have to say about that.

Shouldn't sales be suspended until they can fix the issue?

You linked to a duplicate to an issue that's already been acknowledged. I think it's pretty safe to say FD are aware, the question is when they can be bothered to fix it. And since money is involved in this particular case, I'd expect this one to be fast tracked as opposed to all the other bugs that also need addressing. At least you get those for free.

Also, the change of carrier ID is not a bug.

Edit: just saw your reply above - I bought 4 paints, that I'm happy with so don't want a refund, but I would like them to sort it out, and at the very least acknowledge it here (still radio silence, for a week now) and give an ETA to set our expectations.

Have they acknowledged it anywhere?

I have requested a refund from Sony for the ARX I purchased; the in-game consumable items that were purchased with that in-game currency no longer appear in game.
Not in writing, but if you click on the issue you linked, one of the top replies links to the original issue raised for PC on the 17th. That's at the acknowledged stage.

So, the last interaction from Frontier on this thread was 12 days ago. Have they given any acknowledgement of, well, just about anything anywhere else that I have missed?

I've come to the conclusion that they're either off on holidays, or striking.

The BGS issues that FDev described as the result of an 'extended tick' were silently corrected the day before the .1 patch, so they are working on issues not addressed in the patch notes, just not talking about it.

Yeah, my post was tongue-in-cheek but some basic communication really wouldn't go amiss.

I mean, what are all those community managers doing, genuine question? They're certainly not managing the community, at least not on their official forums.

Maybe I'm being unfair and/or missing something here, but the silence for the past week has been deafening.

I assume they are on twitter or facebook. The Community Team are about player activities I think, The lack of info about game development is probably not down to them. I assume they provide as much info as they given by others who are not (or have retreated from being) customer facing.

I agree it does not engender trust.

I get the impression that some people in this thread think that just because FD haven't fixed certain issues they aren't doing anything at all.

If an issue isn't fixed yet it means either:

a) They are working on it but don't have a fix yet
b) A fix is either ready or will soon be ready and will come with the next patch
c) They don't know how to fix it yet and are still trying to figure out how to fix it
d) They are not looking at a fix yet because they have other higher priority issues to solve.

Some people seem to assume there is an option e) Devs are lazy sat around doing nothing all day

I'm pretty sure anyone who has ever been employed in any job will clearly understand that option E is highly unlikely, since bosses tend to get annoyed when employees don't do any work. Well, unless you are a sysadmin, where you spend your time ensuring things run smoothly so you don't have to do any work and can get back to posting on the internet about whatever your passion is. :p

Alternately...

The thing that rubs me the wrong way is the PJ one - the rest of the bugs are, as I said elsewhere, 'free of charge' so they fix them when they can and I won't moan about it (too much).

They're still happily selling those items on the store and whoever bought them after the patch that broke them will just have experienced a product that currently doesn't work as intended, and you can't even point those (likely unhappy) customers to a post here or elsewhere where FDev confirms that a fix is in the pipeline and roughly when.

I'm not implying that they don't do anything, I'm sure they do, but they certainly don't communicate what they're doing, and when we can expect a fix to be in place. I don't think either is too much to ask for really. The longer this silence continues the more I feel like an idiot throwing them money so shortly after a launch (and they did work then to be fair - it's the subsequent patch that caused the issue).

I know these 'micro' transactions are peanuts in the greater scheme of things, but from what I remember they're not an inconsiderable income source for Elite so you'd think they'd be on this more. It's been a week now.

I have spent around 20k ARX credits for fleet carriers so far (including 3 paint jobs) and I think the priority should be put on the playability of the game, not customization.

It is a lot more important to me that the game is playable (having to logout-login constantly, UI glitches in refuel button, docking request button, numbers/status not updated correctly almost everywhere, cargo transfer button inactive,...) than see my nice tactical white paint job in the carrier management page.

Edit: The game is 'playable' but not really enjoyable as it is.

You see, I don't have any of those issues. So for me, the PJs are a priority as that puts a dent into the enjoyment I get out of the game. Horses for courses etc.

I suppose they could give us the Arx back until it's sorted. Then they can take their sweet time with addressing it.

Fair enough...

Its something FD could do. Personally i'm not bothered. Pretty certain FD will fix it soon and all this upset will pass.

Yeah I will stop it now. Not like it's going to make any difference but I feel better venting for a bit.
