PVP in ED? Enough already, this isn't a PVP game. Forums plugged up, too much.

Did you ever seen a commercial truck in IRAQ with turrets or guns ? Or tourist bus with missiles in Kenya ? Maybe they have escort vehicles but they are not fitted with weapons in order to survive. If you are in a shieldless type7 in a quadruple LTD hotspot, once a possible pirate shows up on radar, you have all the time you need to hi wake, even with no escort. Pretty safe.

Funny) Then it is necessary to generally remove the ability to install weapons on this type of ship. Ah and to compare Iraq/Kenya with space 3306 year as the strange. There is nothing to prevent manufacturers of ships, given the situation in the galaxy, from making their ships with the ability to install weapons. If you focus on Iraq/Kenya, then you can not engineer these ships and remove the shields, let it be really an iron barge for transportation?

Actually in 3306 you have weapons and shield too ;)
If you want to mine the most valuable mineral in the game actually having no skills and/or knowledge of game mechanics, that's it. You hit a big wall of disappointment realising this is not NMS.

I have about 1000 hours in ED, about 400 in NMS, 1000 in EVE, and quite a few in SC. I understand perfectly well where and how I can get frustrated and what I can compare it to)

So ECM, Chaff, Heatsink, Point defence, Turrets, Shield, Shield Bank, Shield Reinforcement, Hull Reinforcement, Engineering, Guardian modules etc etc are useless to you after 1000hrs of gameplay ?

those are balanced in other ways

So is PvP in Elite: Dangerous.

plus you are actually lying.

I don't think you know what the definition of the words 'fact' or 'lie' are.

There are countless video games where PvP is the only intended goal, or a major mode, and plenty more where it's a significant feature, where one player can control an asset with orders of magnitude more firepower and durability than others that they will be placed in direct conflict with.

Exactly none of your assertions regarding PvP in Elite: Dangerous are accurate.

All combat interaction between players can be fixed simply by adding counteraction modules for ships. EW modules, stealth modules, any alignment amplifiers on the course of evading interception. Ships from the Type-6,7,9 series can only be given large slots for turrets. Everything can be fairly balanced, but it doesn't matter to developers( I hope it's just temporary), and it's easier for some players to run solo.

There isn't much of anything that needs to be fixed in this regard. More importantly, there isn't much that should. A poorly configured T-7 should not be able to stand up to concerted attack for long, but if one insists on using one in areas likely to be dangerous they still have the same basic defense that has always existe, which is one of the most potent ones in the game, the ability to be where one's attackers are not at a moments notice.

The original post was directed at the influx of PvP related posts of late. Mine included hehe.
From the derision thereof I'll assume he is a solo player or stays well away from PvP.
And because of the gulf between murderboats and tily constructed T9s with no attempt at bolstering defences, problem is exacerbated.
I'll not post anymore regarding the issue.
Too much salt hehe

everyone has an opinion
the common theme so far here is some angry tyke yelling out his opinion to a room full of folks that really don't care because we play what we enjoy.
this game could have been named elite anything and still gone on as it is because a large portion of the players were playing every version that came out and we like that and we like to fly and shoot stuff.
and as pointed out by soo many of us 50-80+ year olds that did play every flight game and every fps and pvp that came our way, during the 70's till now or less due to death or whatever other reason us foolish old-timers do things or not do things for.
consider the forums here a more pvp text based room attached to the game.
being 37 and angry for next to no reason simply tells me a person might learn something after that number has doubled at least...maybe.

to be a tad more precise, its more like your parents were just a gleam in someones eye by the time many of us had already grown a bit tired of certain repetitive game releases and on and on...

perspective and opinion are different for everyone. yelling about how important yours is as well as calling people fools for having them and for liking something that appears you do not, is definitely appropriate here once you used your very young age as a credential of expertise.

be careful you don't ever get caught for tearing the tag off of any mattresses.

Literally every discussion of this is objectively stupid. [...] You are welcome to have a different opinion, but you are completely wrong.

Let alone this sentence tells me this thread is nothing but a vent.
Objectively stupid. Alright. For objectivity to be supported, evidence must be provided, which this post is lacking. So we can claim that the statement for objectivity is false. Hence, it is your interpretation that the discussion about it is stupid.
Then, having a different opinion can't be wrong. An opinion has no need to be based on facts or supportive evidence. For instance my opinion of this thread is a meme-show caused by someone who was frustrated and had a need to vent. I can even support one statement of my opinion but it's redunant.

Lastly, what kind of quality content is it you're looking for? Any official news can be found in the news and announcements section of this forum. And oh gosh, if you don't like the kind of discussion about open play here, then I wonder what you'll be saying to the flooding of screenshots in the official sub-redit of ED. That sure must cause an outrage!

Now, since I have added my 2(.5) cents to this thread, I'll do as the first reply of it: grabs popcorn.

PvE piracy would actually be worth trying if these unique npc-cargo-only commodities were actually halfway valuable.
Why ive been doing it is less for profitable cargo and more because i feel installation and megaship piracy is under utilized supremely and may be why no one has gotten a dark wheel invite yet. Also the item description for trinkets of hidden Fortune make me think i may want to sell those to tdw somehow.

Also also, ive found a fair amount of installations where ive been able to steal around 60 ltds from them in a few minutes. Thats decently profitable

@MadSinUN
Off topic but you seem to have a good knowledge of the current crop of games you mentioned.
Can l ask what's your favourite and why?

Of course you can. Each of these games lacks something from each other. There are no loved ones now. EVE is beautiful with its mechanics of player interaction (economy, mass battles, agent activity, capture of star systems, etc.). ED is absolutely beautiful in its maximum scientific space. Was very fine with Galnet news and Interstellar initiatives. A pleasant feeling of flight and optimization. But now it is more and more repulsive with its ugly arcadiness. Now I hope for SC, according to them they want to implement a lot of mechanics, honest, gambling, extreme and entourage, but...time will tell. NMS is just a colorful arcade game for VR and just a fun sandbox gameplay without pretensions to seriousness). These are solely my impressions.

I think they mean subjectively too and just are unaware of the difference

You have my attention with that last part for sure.

I actually made a type-7 pirateboat for robbing the megaship in an anarchy system that was pretty fun. It worked pretty well right in front of the starport too until I accidentally fired a hatchbreaker at a ship belonging to the controlling faction, which turned the station hostile regardless of the lack of law.

I'm wondering if I could do the same at my carrier, hmmmmmmmm.

Yes, it doesn't really matter. Merchants don't want to sacrifice the cargo Bay. The researchers don't want to sacrifice the range of the jump. Miners will not sacrifice slots for mining equipment. But then they do not have the ability to resist interception or combat. Perhaps equal to zero. All that you have listed is good for any warship. My T-9 with 512T compartment and G5 boost will survive against a live player's warship for 1min 20 sec. and neither speed nor maneuverability will help me escape. Also, the size of the ship and maneuverability will not allow you to avoid fixed weapons. And getting away from the G5 FSD interceptor is also not realistic. I don't dig in triple points and BORANS, but there is a small chance of getting ambushed in other ststems as well. I even once was destroyed in one of the Federal capitals by two Imperial players). In General, if the Explorer / trader/miner crams all of the above into his ship, he will lose significantly in the specification of his ship and will again get either an assault or defensive ship. But having an EW module for example, it can create interference for interception and capture in the target. With Stealth equipment, just become invisible for a while, etc. And it won't be much to break the specification of the vessel. There is no balance in the ED. Only a warship can be designed effectively against a warship. Everything else is defenseless or useless. Even after asking for help from other players, it was only recently possible to pay for the work if you have an FC. The game doesn't even have a Bulletin Board. You are forced to use third-party resources for all such interactions.
Mines) Does anyone really use the installation of mines? Can they really bother the enemy? ))) Is the spread of dipoles effective against fixed weapons? Heat sink or quiet running will hide your truck from the player's eyes? Does anyone know a real module that will make the attacker nervous?
Judging by the old forum messages, there is only one such module and it is a router. This is a special stealth module))) You turn it off and disappear, and then you go solo and fly on))) Only this makes the pirates/gunkers/griffers nervous. ;)

All the equipment mentioned above should require both utility and optional slots for balancing purposes. So there is not substantial difference vs current gameplay. And also an instant "solo button" is unlikely to be implemented...

Why implement the "instant solo button"? When you disable the router, the ship immediately disappears, and then nothing prevents you from going solo. Can of course the history with the router was corrected, I hope)
What do you mean, "no difference"? A single module that would escape or interfere with an effective escape is no different from multiple shield amplifiers or enclosure/module amplifiers? or additional slots for large defensive turrets allowing you to leave equipment for mining does not matter? Why do warships have additional battle slots? Why don't ships in the cargo specification have any additional slots?

It's by far an easier solution to play in solo or learn how and when to hi-wake. Unplugging the router in critical situations is something that FDevs can dectect and then apply a perma ban to the account.

If you didn't understand that about the router it was irony, sarcasm and I again perfectly understand and know that fdev tried and I hope still struggles with it.

I've been pirating installations for over a year with a stealth ship I have and have never found any LTD's or anything valuable at all. Would you be opposed to sharing where you found those or the method you used to find them? You can PM me if youd like.
