You do not have to be elite rank, or even very experienced to contribute to this effort. Any ship and any commander skill level can help the cause.

Most days there will be a variety of activities that you can do to help. Not everyone loves combat.

At the moment, we are assisting CIA to win their election against Green Party. This will eventually help to make the system slightly more defensible for The Dark Wheel.

Pilots with at least one Elite rank can assist in various ways in Shinrarta Dezhra. That is the current best place for trade and Carto data if you have it.

A number of other commanders have joined the "Rabid Hamsters" and are currently tasked with preparing the way to our target system. Join our discord and send me a PM there if you want to join.

Yes, we do have a target in mind. We are working to ensure we get there but targeting an expansion by invasion is somewhat tricky. This expansion will be the first of 3-4 required to get us in range of Sol. Each expansion takes almost 2 weeks, plus the time it takes for us to gain control of a system. We will be at this for quite some time.

I will consider it. Perhaps Kai Zen may include some in his postings as well.

I'm not much of a fan of forums though. Took me ~5 years to get around to subscribe here!

Tick has happened. CIA are 2-0 up. Two more days and we have won the election for them.

Our influence level in LFT 926 will likely dive steeply on the day we expand, something like 15% "Expansion Tax". This is nothing to worry about, though we will work a bit to redress this.

Taken from the #Standing Orders on the discord.

Orders 01-02 July 3306 (Remaining valid for several more days)

We are on day 1 of (7) of the active expansion. ETA at new system around July 7th. No way to stop us now!

Today, again, continue work for The Dark Wheel in Shinrarta, and support Collective of Independent Agents in their election in LFT 926. (Winning 2-0)

Tasks for today:

Bounty Hunting & Combat:
  • Bounty Hunting in LFT 926. hand in only TDW bounty vouchers into any station in Shinrarta Dezhra.
  • Scenarios at installations or megaships in LFT 926 generate TDW bounties that can be handed in to any station in Shinrarta Dezhra.
  • Bounty Hunting for CIA is not effective during an election.

Commodity Trading
- run profitable trades to TDWs planetary ports in SD 'Neumann Camp' and 'Puleston Arsenal'

Missions & Passengers
  • Lots of TDW missions in Shinrarta Dezhra
  • Missions for CIA in LFT 926, particularly ones mentioning election.

Exploration Data:
- Sell to TDWs planetary ports in SD 'Neumann Camp' and 'Puleston Arsenal'

To assist us with monitoring the expansion, please fly around the local systems with EDMC or similar tools active. This feeds data to the third party sites which then update the tools we use.

Keep Spinning The Wheel, Hamsters!

If you would like access to the #Standing-Orders channel directly or any of the many other channels on the Elite Week Discord including the #Looking-for-Wing channel where you can make plans to run missions for TDW with other commanders on your platform feel free to join the fun at: https://discord.gg/Wtgnsbq

Additional work that will assist The Dark Wheel to land in the correct system is to work for the following factions.

Missions will work for all of these. Bounty hunting may be available for some. As they tend not to own stations, trade and cartography are not available methods to assist.

Raising these factions out of danger for retreat is generally all that is needed. Do not overwork any one faction.

Please work for the following:

Honoto Domain in Amalangkan
ZFE Corporation in Katta
Kipsigines Vision Partners in Bunus

Edit: Only valid for approx 24 hours.

Targeting a particular system by using the expansion by invasion method is a somewhat delicate process. This is why I have a small team on the discord working on it.

Doing too much work is just as bad as doing too little. Some of those systems may impact other player group's BGS plans, which is something we will generally try to avoid.

There are a team of players involved in planning the BGS for this project. I think it is unlikely the others are reading this thread at all.

A.) Why don't we just destroy the Pilot's Federation? Let the Dark Wheel take over, completely? Destroy all Pilot's Federation ships? Tarnish their influence?
B.) A few years back, a T9 was discovered. It was carrying an unstable data core. The pilot was running from someone, with obviously some important data. Think it's related? I believe the core eventually expires, so maybe it needs to be brought to the Wheel? Does anyone know where the Brewer corp HQ is? I believe the data originated from a Brewer Corp system, out in the Pleiades. The data could be Raxxla's location. Or maybe a permit.
C.) Years back, Dark Wheel ships were found to be carrying a SAP-8 container(?). They were later seemingly removed...but I think not. I think the way to attain one is probably changed. It could be data, or a key.

Also

Don't forget commodities. Sell commodities to the The Dark Wheel planets in Shinrarta.
In addition to the usual materials; Opals, LTD etc. Might I suggest a bevy of tech?

*Sap-8 Containers - In the early days the DW were seen to be carrying these a lot. Apparently they must have some need/ information in them.
*Thargoid tech; Probes, links, sensors, resin, Bio Matter, tech samples, Research samples...
*Guardian tech; Urns, relics, tomes, caskets, orbs...
*Soontil (just because).

What a good way to get support! Makes me feel really wanted and appreciated for the hours I've poured into this project. Keep it up.
I want to assure you that I personally VERY MUCH appreciate all the work that you have done on the project. Like any large project or in this case (acting) government that is playing a complex game of 3D chess with thousands of other players who could be allies, opponents or uninterested bystanders we have multiple levels of informational security that we keep for the purpose of attempting to make sure that we don't broadcast just how it would be most easy to screw over our plans. As such information on what we are doing in the following areas are kept locked to those people who are in our black ops group. These activities include Counter BGS, Black OPS, Shaping of expansion targets. In addition to this our black ops group also does smuggling, opposition mission failing and various other activities that require a little more sophistication/coordination. Having said that I want to assure you that I am committed to making sure that we do post here for anyone who does not want to join the discord various mission orders with dozens of ways to get involved and assist in the project and EVERYONE who assists in ANY capacity is most assuredly appreciated. You commanders who participate in this thread and run missions for the project are VITAL to the eventual success of this mission and you are most definitely deserving of and granted respect for your efforts. Thank you!

OK commanders, it seems today has been quite a day for TDW project and it's supporters! In light of today's events (and those that have not yet come to light but we are looking forward to!) I thought I would take a moment to sum up and give context to two things that have come out today.

First: is a screencap that has been posted on the Canonn Discord (I LOVE CANONN!):

cmdr dawn permit.jpg

Their claim (which is entirely reasonable but not proven in the picture) is that the statement would very much seem to indicate that there are (at least one/some) permits in game that are obtainable, but not on the list of known permit unlocks. So they must be either completely unknown or are known to only a few people, who have not shared the information. but the final line "NO DOUBT SOME CMDR, SOME WHERE, WILL FIND OUT HOW TO GET THE PERMIT" would appear to be substantial proof that the mechanism exists in game to accomplish the task.

Now this would be massive news if it were true that this is a Frontier employee making a statement. It appears legit, and my opinion of Canonn is that they are an impeccable source, but one must attempt to confirm these things before taking it as a given.

As such I attempted to get confirmation by contacting the CM team at Frontier directly. After taking a short time to check they confirmed that "CMDR Dawn is one of our support reps." and while they did NOT state that any information in the screencap was doctored or incorrect, they did add (restating their long standing NO COMMENT position on very many things) that it is their official position that they "can't confirm nor deny that the permit for HIP 22460 is unlockable in game."

Further they hastened to add that flooding the customer service program with questions would not be helpful as they do not handle this kind of issue but rather “Their focus is on account help, technical queries etc. not in game design/development. That's better directed at ourselves [CM Team].” So I leave it to you, Commanders, to look at the screencap that has not been disputed as a fake or wrong by Frontier CM’s but rather was met with their standard and reliable “We neither confirm nor deny” response — which, to be fair, is the only one they are allowed to give. And decide for yourselves what meaning you take from it.

And then there was the second noteworthy development of the day. Not all that long ago Commanders Buur and Rheeney contacted me excitedly with some information they had found and were looking for input on. After hearing what they had theorized I promised them to hold off on discussing it until after they released their content on the matter, but I found it to be both intriguing and promising!

Today that video dropped:
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWv0_pB16_8

I must say that they gave a compelling bit of information which seems to further strengthen the reasons to look into LFT 509. In essence: if you plot the points of the weekly thargoid attacks and then draw a line to the intersection of those points, you keep ending up at/very near to a permit-locked system. Furthermore, if you take the historical progression of this over time you end up with a series of permit-locked systems; and when you plot the intersection of those permit locked systems (From the viewpoint of Barnard’s Loop) you get an intersection of LFT 509.

Now Barnard’s Loop is a region that is full of permit-locked systems that have widely been speculated to be the home systems of the Thargoids (in this region). Frontier have been known for their intricate and complex puzzles regarding the Thargoids so it’s by no means a stretch to think that this may be a direct clue attempting to draw the attention of any clever enough to crack the code to LFT 509.

We knew that The Dark Wheel were involved in the story all along as they were explicitly linked to it in the novella that accompanied the original Elite game in 1984 as well as the fact that they are the ONLY Minor Faction in the ENTIRE game (not even the Pilot’s Federation scored a spot) to be prominently placed in the main screen of the Codex’s Knowledge Base.

I look forward to clever commanders continuing to run with this information and pull on additional threads to see what comes loose. For example, during the lulls in Thargoid activity, the Eagle Eye network keeps reporting a series of systems under attack but those systems are uninhabited. It doesn’t manifest in burning stations, so we all treat it as a non event. But those systems still exist and can be plotted and the intersection investigated… I’ll end this line of thought now as no doubt there are many of you far cleverer than I that will take Buur’s great video and be inspired to re-examine a whole host of historical facts with a keen eye to unlocking this mystery.

In the meantime this 4th of July weekend finds The Dark Wheel in the middle of an expansion from LFT 926 (a feat which many had declared definitively was impossible). We expect that we will land in a new system on July 7th (+/- 1 day for BGS peculiarities). Our stated goal of Phase 1 is to take TDW from Shindez to Sol, the birthplace of humanity. Once we get TDW within 10 LY of Sol we will attempt one additional expansion with an eye to either prove or disprove that TDW is pre-programmed to expand into the Sol System. We do not expect this to happen as there is a stated wall that has stopped other Player Minor Factions from expanding in but it is possible that TDW will continue to confound the doubters and prove that it is the exception rather than the rule.

This experiment has never been tested so anyone who tells you they are 100% positive that it will or won’t work is either a Frontier employee, a liar or so full of their own arrogance that I will not waste my time responding to them. As I said, it’s a bit of a hail mary pass that I am not pinning my hopes on — but the symbolism of taking TDW from the center of the game (Shindez) to the cradle of humanity (Sol) is powerful nonetheless.

After that we get to Phase 2 which is what ties into the system mentioned above, LFT 509. As stated last week on the Elite Week Podcast we have moved the target of Phase 2 from Lave to LFT 509. That’s right, after we go to Sol we will take TDW from the cradle of humanity to the very highly suspected location of their secret base.

After that we will proceed to Lave in Phase 3 of the project. All of this is, of course, subject to change based on the best information available as matters progress. If we shock everyone and pop into Sol or LFT 509 and that unlocks some permit or mission or additional game state that directs us to modify our mission goals, we will keep you advised.

In the meantime I encourage you all, Federation, Imperials, Alliance and Independents; whether you be Children of Raxxla, Independent Raxxla Hunters, Great Raxxla Potato Hunters, or members/supporters of any Squadron or Minor Faction in game… Join us now in this historic endeavor! Share information with one-another freely! If you think my project is dumb that’s fine — rack your brain and come up with a better one! Hell, if you do, I will be the first to publicize it to the best of my ability.

We are on the precipice of a moment here where we players are taking control of this game and making it truly our own. This project is a long-term, player-driven Community Goal that is more epic in scope than any that Frontier have given us to date. The AXI has recently started a FANTASTIC CCCG (Community Crafted Community Goal) BRILLIANTLY using a Fleet Carrier as a CG Station in an incredible demonstration of emergent gameplay. The Hutton Truckers have been leading the way in demonstrating how to make their own fun for quite some time and show no signs of stopping! The point is: we have a minimum of 6 months and quite possibly 10 (Jan 1, 2021 - March 31, 2021) until Odyssey drops. In that time we can continue to pester CMs to release information that they are just not gonna release until they are damn good and ready or we can take over and fully enjoy this glorious sandbox we have been given to the fullest — and maybe, just maybe, make history along the way!

Join me CMDRs in this glorious quest to solve the greatest mystery in the history of video games! You can get more information on this entire project from The Elite Week Discord at:

https://discord.gg/Wtgnsbq

We also cover progress on this project every week on the show which can be found on Youtube at:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcvwIFXALiuCbhAEirRu5oA?

Or in podcast form in just about every platform you can find at:

https://anchor.fm/eliteweek

So, commanders, come get involved! Tell your friends, Squad members, etc. to get them involved! Content creators, spread the word — whether it’s in a podcast, like Lave Radio and many others already have in covering this project week after week, or streamers like The Buur Pit, Dh397, CMDR Ascorbius, and many others have. If you stream or record a video or make a podcast or piece of art in any form — from a song to a painting — that is in support of this project please come and post it in the Elite Week Discord and ping me to make sure I see it, and I can help to promote it as well.

Thank you for all your support and together I know that we can TURN THAT WHEEL!

Thank you, @Cryptography for the updates!
And a huge LIKE for @CMDR Kai Zen for the appreciative post (which he was clearly composing while I was this one). I'm really appreciative for the time that many of you pour into this effort - it is utterly clear that you exert time and effort!

Just a couple of notes...
I'm using the post-time reported by the forum to judge the perishability of orders such as the ones you mention that are good for approx 24hrs. I presume that's sufficient. The reason I mention it is, if that's not the case, feel free to clarify with some sort of time-zone reference.

Any chance of posting information here on how to aid with target system preparation? Not everyone is on Discord.

I will second this sentiment. Further, I would say that it's helpful to inform a larger potential base of assistants to this project if more than one of these mechanisms are used to advertise the current orders, goals, advice, etc. *

I mentioned this in a previous post and I'm confident that this is still very true: those of us who have less experience with the technicalities and details of the BGS rely on the more expert BGS-ers for guidance. We want to assist, not hinder this project.

There are clearly a number of participants here who are quite eager to help and have some very useful experience and substantial skill in beneficial areas other than BGS strategy & tactics. Allow me to suggest that if you're hesitant to post on this forum, perhaps you could relay the message thru someone who posts here already.
I would certainly appreciate it and, while I cannot speak for others, I suspect that numerous other participants would too.

I know that it takes time. This is time that could be in-game, rather than checking/updating yet another thing or place for information. This project has certainly changed my dynamic for playing this game. I now check here each time I'm going to begin playing. I must admit that I feel it nagging at me - that I'm doing this instead of being in-game. It is worth it to me, however, because I want to help us move in the right direction with my actions. I feel it for a number of regular posters here too. You all deserve... something!

* I would argue that this becomes more important as a project such as this goes on for long periods of time.

Cheers! I feel that player-driven content is the best thing to partcipate in, be it BGS like this or something more for pure fun like the Hutton MUG projects (that was fun). If I could send something nice for your ship's cupholder thru the ether to you and others, I would! 🍺
I'm generally always rarely not in OPEN and alway looking forward to the possibility of running into any of you in-game. I would definitely greet you if I did. Have fun out there, CMDRs!

I will absolutely make sure to keep posting the standing orders in here every time they get updated. as we are pending expansion they have not been needing much change for several days but soon we will be back to the grind of DAILY updates here. Mean time those last orders given are still good! Thanks for your efforts!

So shouldn't missions for TDW have appeared in a system within 20ly? The pending state has ended. ... Note, I am unsure how this whole BGS thing works.
