ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 3

The Egg isn't a glitch. Being able to respawn the egg with your fighter is the glitch. That was fixed.

they did more than that though. Although patch just said the fix was for fighter respawning SSDs, what they actually did had nothing to do with fighters (again), and simply made the egg and other SSD asteroids like it automatically depleted.

e.g. never mind about whether you can respawn the desposits on the asteroid, with this patch even the original SSD deposits are gone.

I agree but I played solid for months before I could afford the Python. I have been playing fairly solid (a couple of months off here and there) for a few years, I still don't have an FC or the funds to afford one. My expectations were never raised in this area. Whilst it might be a cruel blow to someone who purchased the game a month ago who expected it to take only a week/2weeks/month to get an FC, overall, that crowd is going to be a very small number in the grand total of players. Someone who buys this game next month will most likely have the same expectations most of us did. "Boy, this is a thousand mile road I have to walk."

I take your point. However, in today's world, folk don't want the grindfests anymore. New players are the lifeblood of MMO's but I feel this huge squashing of credit-making ability is going to put them off.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope the Dev's have made a small error in their maths or something. Perhaps the decimal point got put in the wrong place and it was just a Q&A person missing the mistake :D

I just think that somewhere about half way between what it was and what it is now might have been better.

and the galaxy started opening up for players to explore and have fun

Galaxy has always been open. You yourself are just returning from a trip to Sag A*, that sounds plenty open to me without the use of an FC.

ok so LTD's might have been too much, but it gave players a chance to get the new stuff and expand the game

But the second half of that doesn't cancel out the first part. LTD's were too much. The end.

removal of money and fuel means carriers will just die out

Not a bad thing. All the populated systems are cluttered up with them. Far from opening up the galaxy, as you previously stated, it appears most have just remained in the populated areas.

people will sell them back and never bother again

Again, not a bad thing.

i'm on my way back from Sag A i was hoping to get a carrier when i got home
that's not going to happen now

The key word being now. If you don't have the funds for one NOW, it doesn't mean you can't have one later. If you're refusing to buy one because the profits are down, then you were never going to use it to its fullest potential. So it might be a good idea the you don't get one.

we should just sell all the carriers back
Again, I hope some do. They have become a blight in most systems they are in. Exclusively used for such a narrow purpose.

I made the analogy the other day and I further expand on it now. It's as though the Govt finally released the sale of car to the public and 95% of Britons purchased one, all drove to Littlehampton, tried to park in the same car park, to visit the same fish and chip shop, to get a bag of chips. They have been primarily used in such a narrow band of gameplay, it's almost embarrassing.

i mean what's the point of them now ?

They carry your Fleet, my understanding is, on a full tank they go go 60,000ly. I mean,. that's enough to go deep into space. You could use them to haul all sorts of stuff for missions. I'm sure people will develop (if they haven't already) ways to use them for BGS, maybe start privateer armies that a CMDR can call in to help overthrow a system. They were not built solely for extracting LTD's and selling them. The limits of use are matched to the limits of the CMDRs imagination.

Tried serendepid hotspot

same ship, 15 mins run for yellows

26 limpets used. 0 mined.
Met a lot of cheap SSD (less then 10k prices) and 1 platinum rock to explode.

R.I.P. mining, I loved you once a week :D

Current mining not worse it. During 15 mins spin-up I do 7 jumps ahead on Conda. That payed minimum 400k. Sometimes it can be 20 mins(extra 5 mins to dss scan) and pay 5 mils.
Now we have mining situation when you can't find single rock in 15 mins. Thanks no, better just jump in circles.
P.S. payouts include 10% to npc and 25% to carrier, i.e. in fact it is 35% more.

Has anyone tried it out yet on hotspots that don't overlap, with other minerals?
Yes

Tested mining on two runs with similar results.... at this rate, pirating NPCs for LTDs comes back as an option. A shame that they fly around happily with 0% PP since a few patches, took out the fun of that type of gameplay. But hey! At least LTDs, right?

sorry for the maybe stupid question, but is there no download in the launcher? or is the patch only on the server side?

It's a client patch. "Play" should be replaced with "Upgrade", if you don't have the update yet.

New players are the lifeblood of MMO's but I feel this huge squashing of credit-making ability is going to put them off.

If they need credits to be free and progression to be absent, the game is better off without them.

I am mining in a LTD3 hotspot and I don't find LTD!
Usually, all of the asteroids have LTD.
What a nerf!
OK I am waiting for the next update to run the game again.
