I've heard (as I've not played the rpg myself) that the original elite, and in turn E : D, borrowed a fair amount from traveler RPG.

They didn't borrow anything. Only because someone makes a game where a reactor uses Tritium as fuel which is a real life element and probably the fuel to use in future fusion reactors doesn't mean that someone else is not supposed to use the exact name for the fuel without being accused to "borrow" it from other games.

It would crack me up if one of the earlier versions of Elite has Tritium as a commodity. You might have forgotten that the Elite Franchise dates back to 1984, long before Sean Murray was a twinkle in his parent's honeymoon eyes.
