Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Thanks. Mostly playing in Solo mode right now. Well, not this precise moment. Right now I'm getting ready to meet my mom. We're going out for lunch, then I have a doctors appointment. After that, I'm coming home and doing research on what the best cargo to pick up from where I currently is, and where to take it for maximum profit. :)

Okay, maybe I enjoy that aspect a bit much. When playing Sid Meier's Pirates I spend 70% of my play time managing spread sheets with cargo buy/sell prices, length of trip, pirate activity, and so forth. As well as updating the spreadsheet every time I pull into a port.
That is really sad. I remember keeping a note book of all my scores while playing Sensible Soccer.

I'd start in open though since it might be the last time you see human players for a while. Assuming that matters to you.

Welcome, Pixie.
I don't think I'm going anywhere soon. I need to suss out this Trit mining mining business.
Sweet. I might see you around this week then.

Just had half a spicy pizza and almost certainly got hit on by the local shop girl. I won't go back because that would be uncool.

And now to sign in (In Windowed mode so I can access a spreadsheet too) with my notebook and pencil ready and compare prices and travel times. :) Pixie needs to replace the funds spent on an Adder plus upgrades.

You are both sad and lame. Like everyone else here.

You think that's bad... About 70% of my play time in Sid Meier's Pirates is carefully analyzing trade routes and potential profit vs danger in order to pick a cargo and destination, using spread sheets to track current known prices and pirate activity for every port. And updating it each time I arrive in a port. I also gasp enjoy watching Spice & Wolf as much for the economic discussions as for the actual events. This game seems tailor made for me to enjoy it. After all, I love getting into the nitty gritty details of a thriving economic sim. In The Guild I spend more time managing my economic empire then actually simming the family's life through the generations.

Right now, I'm still in the initial starting area running missions. Just bought an Adder and upgraded it as much as I could, which to be honest isn't much. I just bought Elite Dangerous yesterday after all. Finally had gotten use to the keyboard/mouse controls enough that my sidewinder was no longer constantly spinning out of control. And now I'm having to get use to a new handling profile. :) My T-Flight 4 should be very helpful when it gets here. Actually, I bought this game because I had ordered a T-Flight 4 and wanted more games then (eventually) Star Wars Squadrons to use it with.

Welcome! @@@07

OMG. He's even more elequent and annoying than Zincfinger.

The series is great fun, isn't it? Just imagine the sort of hyjinx those four would get into in the ED universe. They already get into crazy situations in their own universe, and at the end of the series they have the Holly Hop Drive to jump between universes.

Still haven't gotten to my trading yet today. :( Logged into Eve Online to queue up my next set of skills to train and complete the next couple missions in the Industry career arc. Then testing out VR for Elite Dangerous using the pilot license tutorial, and realizing VR wont work till I get my T-Flight 4 (and get use to it) since I'll need to be able to pilot without actually seeing my control setup.

Currently doing duties out of Cubeo waiting for the tick to get some prismatic shields.
I finished up pre the patch on 6.3B creds. But I am reading that the Tritium supply might still be an issue.
So hoping the long distance supply runs is still profitable.
This was my best deal, revisiting for approx 700-800Mcr total profit.

As all good small business adventures start by having a good name, I am thinking I am obliged to call my FC
'O.P.M. DeVito' cause you know they paid for it.

Only one question for current owners, Do I need the outfitting service to swap out modules or reconfigure my ships?
Until I can get a fleet of fixed purpose cutters, I will need to swap 'Pythhikkus' b/w haulage and mining.

I was going to do some missions alongside my trading, but that didn't quite work out. After researching the markets upon logging in, I realized my current port of call had polymer for 20 credits a ton, which I could sell for 5k a ton a couple systems over. After selling the eight tons of polymer, I was able to pick up 8 tons of consumer appliances for 5k a ton. A system over I managed to sell that for 10k a ton, doubling my money. Finally I picked up a hold full of industrial chemicals for 6k a ton. I had a market willing to pay 10k a ton for them, so I took off. Only I got accosted by pirates six times on my way to the final port of call for today. Since I refused to give up my cargo and they kept shooting at me, I defended myself. Thus resulting in me collecting 15k worth of bounties on the pirates plus making 32k credits from selling the industrial chemicals. All in all, quite the profitable evening since I started with only a thousand credits. Maybe I don't mind nobody having a courier mission for me.

Yeah, I know it's possible to make a lot more then that at higher ranks. But going from 1,000 credits to 127,840 credits in three trades (and getting jumped by pirates) I'd say is pretty good for a couple hours of work.

I recall having to take a long break from Star Wars galaxies because my cooking business was so in demand I was overworked playing a game. I was doing more spreadsheet work and actual work-work, than my normal job. Then there was running about different planets looking for the right kind of soft water....

Needless to say Im mostly a trader here too. Welcome o7

It is a thrill when your early money-making ventures pay off. A good feeling.

/sage nod\ I believe I know where this opportunity is. Been collecting about a quarter mil each trip doing it myself. In a decent small ship with a good commander you can escape most pirate interdictions. Glad to hear you slogged [and profited!] your way out of the ones who caught you.

Went to my go-to money-making LTD3 spot to see how the bad nerf bat had battered it.

In one hour I'd collected 44 LTD's and 10 tritium. A quick visit to EDDB informed me Wholer Terminal in Kremainn was paying 982k per ton of diamonds.

I upped my hard points, retracted the cargo scoop and boosted out of the ring, leaving six collectors behind from a very depleted hold of limpets. About a third of the way en route, a chancer pirate stated he had come a long way for what I had, but the FSD was already charging and I flipped him the bird as I fled into hyperspace, praying he hadn't used a FSW scanner on me.

I got to Kremainn without interruption.

I began to slow to snail-like speeds wondering what had happened. I then noticed one of my wings was skimming a practically invisible gas giant ring and impact was imminent. I adjusted course rather urgently.

I then realised another planet was looming up perilously close. What the... With a blush of shame, I saw that I'd targeted the planet rather than the orbiting station. Another judicious course alteration brought me to my final destination but some numpty bad guy started shooting at me (unnanounced, I might add - how wude); I'd entered the no-fire zone at this point and was intent at getting inside so I didn't see his fate. Mwahaha.

Quick, Commodities market before things change.

33mCR odd. 33. Million. Credits.

About a month ago, that would have been 5 times that amount.

Ah well...
