Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It's actually put me off buying a carrirr now. Perhaps that was the intention of the nerfing. There's certianly not a limit of 16 FCs per body either.

If they ever rethink the unobtanium rates of tritium, I may reconsider but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

I'm glad I didn't get a carrier :) Not that I was able to anyway, I didn't have anything like the 5 billion base price, and I didn't get on the mining train at the time it was profitable, so I probably never will now. For what they were, I don't think they would really suit my game, and I'm happy to ignore them as much as possible. Which, since I took off into the dark 3 months ago, I've managed to do quite successfully :)

(Last time I left the bubble, I didn't come back for 18 months. I've just landed at the extreme edge of bubble space as I'd worked my way back whilst conducting part of my slice of the HIP survey, but I shall be going back out into the black again to do more of the slice. Which I think might take me a while!)

Going out into the galaxy like that has been tempting for ages now. The only thing that puts me off would be a catostrophic loss of carto data.

It's rather unlikely, unless you decide to attempt High-G landings at every available opportunity, without shields. Or try High Waking right next to a Black Hole. Or try jump boosting from a White Dwarf without extreme caution.

Besides, South of Sag*A, there are asteroid bases dotted around where one can make landfall and sell up from time-to-time if desired :)

Now I'm even more tempted! :D

I actually lost 250k of cartographic data recently after boosting inside of a station. I need to swallow my pride and remap the landing gear and boost buttons so they aren't right next to each other on the throttle.

By the way, did anyone see that explosion in Beirut? That Was kinda wild.

This is a list of asteroid bases.

You'll see that many of the nebulae in the Southern half of the Galaxy have a base. There is also Explorer's Anchorage near Sag*A itself, which is a full Orbis station.

And of course, the DSSA carriers, though how long they will survive is open to debate, I think. Besides, the rob-dog UC installed on FCs take 25% of your discovery values, IIRC :)

Some on-topic from me...

Had a protracted to-and-fro with support over this last week due to this nonsense of the game not recognising lower-case letters in ship's names any more. (Turns out that they did this to overcome a bug they introduced in patch 2 - {surprise, surprise, they introduced a bug} - doesn't seem like they are going to revert it.) In the process of proving the situation to support I ended up buying a Mamba after all (called "PORT BANNATYNE" 'cos the game doesn't like "Port Bannatyne"). Spent the whole day today dragging it around the engineers to stick on the experimentals that I wanted. Lesson 1 - fit a fuel scoop.

Yeah, It's really annoying how you can only use caps. I don't understand why they can't fix this. It seems like a simple thing.

And I'm not on the Frontier bashing train. Just fix the small things, please.

Perhaps I'm starting to feel my salt levels rising - have I been around that long? :ROFLMAO:
I was thinking that same thing!

So, I went out in the Cutter, 'cuz that always makes me feel better. It sure was dark, though. I hope it's not an omen.

I got some cool silhouettes type pics, though :)

I remember engineering a Mamba. After a third engineer I was cursing myself for no doing it in some engineering mule, Even though I engineered the FSD first, she still had just some 12LY. It was a painful day and a half.

Sorry to hear about your support experience. To be completely honest, I didn't even know we had the option of lower case letters at some point. As far as I remember the game automatically typed upper case since the ship names were introduced. scratches head

Not a happy bunny really, don't like the loss of the title-case.

Ships already named with lower-case are OK, it is just new or renaming in the livery screen that the devs have messed with. (I suspect it has something to do with the bug introduced that stopped some characters being recognised and this is a ham-fisted bodge to overcome that.)

And here was me thinking Pixie was a nerd.

I don't want to seem like I'm defending them, but honestly, there is no such thing as "fixing a small thing" in software development.
You wouldn't believe how deeply can a "small bug" be rooted and what it can break by being fixed.
That is true but you still sound a bit corparate shillish. Not to me but maybe to other less informed people.
