Thank You FDEV!!!

Abandon may be too strong a word but I'm referring to this post - Which a few die hards are refusing to acknowledge. - Ill put my soap box away, just before I do it maybe worth reading the full post below which mentions the Delay to fleet Carriers and new Ice Worlds

A while ago, our development went from pre-production into full production on our next major milestone of Elite development.

What that means in the simplest terms is that the team are actively working on the next major landmark which takes us into our next era for Elite. We aren’t going to be ready to talk about or announce any details for quite a while yet, it is early in the development and there is still a long way to go, but I can say that this is something that will be scheduled to release a considerable time after the final update in the Beyond series. We will have more details on exactly what this means and how the era will roll out after the release of Beyond – Chapter Four, but this does mark some exciting next steps and a continued commitment to the long term vision for the game and our community.

The OP makes a number of good points if you disseminate it:
  1. Over the last few months since introducing Fleet Carriers, made Elite Dangerous even worse than what it was
  2. Game is way too grindy
  3. instancing is a nightmare
  4. game is full of bugs, bugs that have remained in the game for years and you have not bothered to fix
  5. Galnet is gone
  6. community goals are non-existent
  7. commodity markets are a joke. You advertise this game as a trading game, but trading is really difficult to do without 3rd party tools.
  8. ED community having to create their own community goals
  9. Better tools should be made available IN THE GAME for market prices across the galaxy. If Galnet news can be made available instantly across the galaxy, so should commodity prices!!!
I cant vouch for all of those being legit, but certainly some of them are and I think it would show respect to the community and wisdom for FDev to acknowledge and perhaps discuss them at some point.

Of course, some of the points made are also inerrant in nearly any MMO type game and you arent really going to get away from that. It is what it is and the longer you play the more pronounced it is for you. These are some of the reasons people move on, its just natural progression.

OP doesn’t like the game because grind/lack of content/bugs delete as applicable. We see a few of these threads, they represent some, not all.

Some have grown weary of the game or weary of waiting for it to fulfil its potential. I’m not denying their right to come on the forum and express that but what I don’t like is when anyone who disagrees with it is called a White Knight. It’s just people saying they still enjoy the game, they have as much right to say that as those that don’t like it anymore.

I suppose the solution would be for those that do like the game to stay out of these threads, let the thread be filled with those in agreement but for that to work, when a positive thread shows up, those that don’t like the game should keep out of that. Unlikely to happen.

What I do know is, those that don’t like the game won’t be talked into liking it anymore than you could talk me out of enjoying the game. So when you look at the futility of the conversation, you wonder why the name calling is required. Pathetic really. Sure, argue until your nose bleeds if you want but if I say I like the game, quit calling me names. It’s tiresome.

Misery loves company. There's no point being unhappy about the video game if you can't say so to all the other happier people.

It does though. Try it.. but for something really positive, not for generic gushing praise. I did it twice in the last year. First one got locked by the mods in under 5 minutes, i took that as a lesson to go back in my cave. The other one was pretty positive. Then frontier proceeded to turn all the positive things off. /shrugemoticonusedbywhiteknights

No way. If your opinion is just as valid as mine, it means you legit enjoy the game. That means my sadness is my own problem. I refuse to accept that. The game is objectively worse than Hitler, and my sadness is an issue of global concern. You pretending to like the game is just a thinly-veiled attempt to not take my plight seriously, which means you are part of the problem. Typical for white knights.

What is the alternative anyway? Acting like an adult? Lol, get outta here Mr. Poopypants.

Actually I'll wait for OA's summary of the fallout of DTEA's video about Yamiks open letter about something or other, before really getting furious/unconcerned. Only then will I come here and start another thread.

Considering the original Elite was a Space Trading game where people happily played it without new content, the internet and 3rd party tools, it's amazing how gamers have changed where they want it all easy now.
Right, but Elite was not advertised as a service game, that was supposed to be expanded by regular content updates unlike ED. Additionally video games have evolved over the years. Gamers also undoubtedly (and not always for the better for sure), but OP has a point nonetheless. And if you look at other service games, you will find, there are a number of examples showing how it is being done right. Unfortunately ED's content additions are in a questionable state, something you would not expect from a live game. And that is not even considering the update frequency and the pacing of the background story.

Genuine question, which service games do you think are "done right"?
