Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 4 Patch Notes

So has this been around for a while? When did it appear as I have not seen it before the latest patch.

It has been around for quite some time, though, at least for me, it didn't seem to happen particularly often. Now, it's happening once or twice, I would guess, on around 1 in every 4 or 5 asteroids.

I've got >3B on my carrier account and >40B on my CMDR account. I can walk away from the game and leave my carrier open with all facilities for 30 years.

And that's not counting the 3000t of LTDs and 8000t of tritium I have stashed on it! ;)

Yes, many of us ARE in the position where money is not the issue in maintaining a carrier, but that is not the position EVERYONE is in, and it's a position that is, today, significantly harder to achieve than it was a few weeks ago. When players have these kinds of resources, we're well outside the bounds of the game constraints - barring the introduction of something that costs 50B to buy and 5B/week upkeep, the game doesn't really present any sort of significant challenge any more. But that doesn't mean that flawed game mechanics and continual nerfing of features should be acceptable. Balancing risk with reward or work to reward are tricky things to get right; too far in one direction and the game becomes too easy and, thus, boring. Too far in the other direction and the game becomes too hard and, thus, frustrating. FDEV have a pretty well established history of starting on the easy side and then flipping the switch to 11 in the other direction.

On a side note: "I've made my billions, screw everyone else" while bragging about your virtual in-game loot is not really a great attitude to have.

The problem with the premise that leads to this is that it is entirely possible to get obscene amounts of credits in a relatively short period of time in the game without the mining gold rush.

Sure, a whole bunch of people were able to get Carrier level funds in a matter of a few weeks with the LTD rush, but one can get the same level of funds still, just in a matter of a few months rather than days or weeks. I don't see that as even remotely unreasonable.

I'm very familiar with EULAs; I'm a professional software developer and have been for a very, very long time, but this is not what we're talking about.

You didn't read what I wrote; I made no claim around legality or any sort of mandate that they address the issues. I was talking about customer expectations from a customer satisfaction point of view. Whether they fix issues or have any sort of legal requirement to do so is not relevant. Like any business, Frontier relies on customers to provide funds for ongoing development of the product; continually p**sing off your customer base is not a particularly effective way of ensuring an ongoing revenue stream so there is INCENTIVE to address these kinds of issues.
You mentioned the word fraud which has a very specific legal meaning “Intentional deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain”. In the context of an EULA that would be very difficult to prove given that Frontier reserve the right to “update” the game at anytime. From a good customer relations point of view Frontier would be wise to give anyone who asked for it their money back.

They will be offering new unique asp explorer skins soon :D 19:45 on stream.
Ha-ha-ha-ha ... and ignored question about tritium in chat.
That all we should know...

What part of, "I'm not discussing the LEGALITY" of the situation OR the EULA are you not getting? I didn't bring up the EULA and I never suggested FDEV was engaging in fraud. I was talking about similar actions in the real world with tangible assets using analogies similar to those raised by others in this thread. In fact, if you actually read my response, I specifically stated my position that this was simply a customer satisfaction and game play mechanic issue. Try arguing the point that is actually being made.

Your analogy IMPLIES that Frontier are acting in a fraudulent way. No, you did not specifically state that what they were doing was fraud, but neither did Frontier specifically state that Tritium would be a available to buy cheaply forever or that it would be easy to mine, players inferred from what was in the beta that it would be the case. If you wish to simply discuss customer satisfaction and gameplay issues, don’t use analogies like that.

The only way someone can infer that is if they have an issue with basic comprehension. And., again, not MY analogy, I was responding to someone else's analogy.

I'm, frankly, amazed that you're actually trying to defend what amounts to a basic bait and switch. Astounding...

On a separate note from Tritium woes has anyone else encountered the bug of VO’s floating around inside chunks of asteroid? They show on contacts as separated from the rock, but when collectors go to pick them up they are inside a chunk of asteroid! Took me a while to work out what was going on and why my collectors were suiciding themselves trying to pick a fragment up. It was only when I targeted a fragment and got up close and the VO fragment materialised from out of the rock I realised what was going on. Is this a new bug, an old one, or one that was fixed and has now reappeared?

Yes, is there a bug report?

My fleet carrier cannot jump. I put in a support ticket. I try but the time runs out 0:00:00 and in same system as I started. What is going on. Just got back from a vacation and wanted to play on Friday night but I guess I wont be? Is there a workaround for this? Everything in this game is breaking.....some day it will be patch 2,000,000....oh still broken crap lol

It looks like this was a bug fixed in June that they've managed to 're install'. nice one FDev.

So the last few days...

Fleet Carriers having problems jumping.
Galaxy Map slow to load to use the search window.
Galaxy Map noticeable delay providing info on a highlighted object.
Game timeout Hyperspacing out of systems with a lot of carriers.
Inventory ship to FC transfer occasionally locks up.
Double/triple mining hot spots aren't. Single seems to work.
Some players starting to get yellow sidewinder messages.

It seems after patch 4 the bugs being sneaky slowly got around the
Frontier Dev's fixes. Of course an emotional opinion versus facts.

Regards

Problem, patch, problem, patch, problem problem problem. Just switch off the servers upgrade them then turn them back on in early 2021 for Elite 2 sorry Odyssey

I keep watching the forums and saying to myself, "I'll wait til they get it fixed before I jump back in and try to move my FC."

My carrier also cannot jump. I am stuck at the edge of the galaxy unable to move.
Still looking forward to patch 5, even more now.

... and the bug where your supercruise destination target randomly switches to some other nearby destination still persists, even though it was supposedly fixed 2 patches ago.

I wonder what, if any, tools and processes FD are using for source control and review on these patches. Some of these recent patches seem to be breaking as much as they attempt to fix. It is as though there is no source code control process in place and they have reverted to just throwing all their 'fixed' source files at the guy who drew the short straw and has to attempt to weave them all together to make this week's build.
