Are you interested in Crossplay?

What automation you think is being used in elite? Also why macros are nowadays such a scary word? Most macros I've seen in practice is the pirate players sending a "submit or I'll shoot" messages.
As for cheats, I've seen one or two on YouTube in last 5 years.
And cheating is also possible on consoles

shrugs
Well, that goes along with: "i haven't seen it, therefore it doesn't exist"
valid for both automation or cheating.

I'm sure some cheating exists in every game. You're just making it sound like it's all there is on PC.
As for automation stuff, I really just would like to know what kind of automation there is that makes you so afraid of it.
Pip macros, I can think that there's a specific quick presets. And messages to be sent out. Voice attack is a very nice tool for immersion and VR, not for competetive playing.
But Voice attack and VR have already been established as a choise that should not cause people to be separated from others.

Indeed, cheating is most prevalent on PC.
On consoles it's practically non-existent. Both MS and Sony have strong anticheat policies, that can go up to banning the console from multiplayer network or even to completely brick the console.
In ED, on XBox, there were reports saying that CLoggers were being handed out cooldown timers, so a CLogger would not be able to reconnect to the game right after a clogg.

Regarding automation - the most used is PIP macro, which can be a huge advantage, when properly used.
There is more than that, but there is no point in going deeper into it.

Anyway, none of this advantages matter unless playing competitively - but if you do, they really matter.

No problems from a PvE perspective - however, given the advantages available to PC players in terms of headlook / VR / M&K there might be some issues relating to control disparity for some console players who engage in PvP.
Most of them don't care. Many of them already whoop PC butt with a controller.
The pip macro would be the only major advantage the PC master race would have.

cheating on pc is real, whether it's from memory playing tools or macro's and other automation tools that exist or mouse aiming. It makes anything competitive on pc suspect and not really as fun as it could be.

Consoles on the other side of the coin usually get auto-aiming help since they're usually limited to stupid controllers and not awesome hotas setups.

I'd vote no on cross play. Not that it's something that would benefit the game if it did exist. It's not like cross play is going to make the 99% of the game that doesn't involve other players any different.

The headlook advantage is only on Xbox, PS4 has motion controls for that built in.

I think you can program macros in Xbox elite controller. And some third party controllers come with programmable paddle buttons for PS4 as well. But I reckon those don't count?
Seriously though, I don't know which kotaku/polygon article you've been reading, but outside of free2play games, it's very rare to run into a cheater. Pc or on console.
Sony and Microsoft don't care about cheaters really. They want us to pay for their storefront. It's the game studios who do the banning.

Again tho, I would like to know what kind of beneficial automation there is on pc that is not pip related.

Yea, right.
That's why i heard about handing out cooldown timers on login for CLoggers only on XB... and not on PC.
Guess clogging is bigger problem on Xbox then since pc and PS4 didn't need that timer implemented ;)
But at least it's not cheating since Xbox has no cheaters.

Is this when you you dress up as a super hero ?

Not it's when players can directly interact between platforms (PC & consoles) by instancing together & joining each others squadrons & friend lists. We can already interact via the BGS & see each other via disco tags & bounty boards. My understanding is that ED is set up to do it & it's more or less just flicking a switch. Gaining permission to flick that switch is the main obstacle I believe.

I welcome the idea of crossplay as well as cross saves.

In 2020, I think it's absurd that I can't play a game with players across all the different platforms where that game exists. Some of my friends are PS-only, others are XBox-only. Elite is on all of them, so why not let me play with them? It's been done already - Fortnite and plenty of other games have demonstrated this is no longer an issue.

Likewise, if I start my game on PC, I should be able to pick it up with no difference on XBox or PS and continue. And vice versa. Hell, let me play on whichever one suits my mood in the moment, but persist my progress across them all.

Lol, this is delusional. Yeah, thousands of players have one ganker on their block list.

No, people complain about blocking because it screws up instancing and some pvpers abuse it.
Actually, that did happen. Remember when the only way you could block someone was to friends with them first. There were people on the SDC and Distant Ganks who got loads of Friend requests, only to find they's been blocked as as they accepted them.

Personally, it doesn't bother me if there is no crossplay as I tend to only play in solo. However, I do think it should be on FDev's radar / plan as I can see how it would be good for those who are into socialising with other gamers / friends. As Danquememe said Crossplay is a widely accepted norm for today's games.
