Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

Really?
So this isn't one of your posts?

If I were you I'd report whoever it is for pretending to be you.
that's odd. I clicked on that and it says the imposter is also online at this moment. Odd

Join date is meaningless. I could have just logged one hour in 2018, then spent all my time awake on Elite Dangerous since June, just like OP; see prevoious post.

Or maybe I'm just a liar trying to convince you I've spent ten hours per day in front of a videogame, so I could tell you how Open mode works.

Open was always exciting, because you could have interactions. Back in the day I would meet some random Commander, we would have a chat, share information (what they up to, what they do, how they do it), learning something I didn't know much about when it comes to the game or activities, or locations to visit. That was gold.

Hardly possible these days. I once visited a destination not long ago and met a Commander. Chance for this to happen is almost null outside the bubble, but it was a known sight seeing destination, so chance is small but there. Commander jumped out the system before I could type "Hello, I'm unarmed". People just run for their lives upon the sight of a hollow square in the radar. That is sad.

As a non-PvP player I liked Open for the potential of interaction, but the state of Open has conditioned normal players to panic and flee or log out.

I've heard that ganking actually used to be much worse, in some ways, than it is now. There were not the same protections in place at stations, there were no starter systems, money was harder to come by (and therefore rebuys hurt more), etc. I have no way of quantifying that, it's just what I've heard and read from various sources both here and elsewhere.

In terms of interaction, it seems the expansion of System chat to encompass all game modes has helped make, at least for some CMDRs, the Solo and PG experience less lonely. There certainly are a lot of folks looking to chat in mining systems and similar. Don't really see much if any chat outside of that, unless it's a heavily visited system like Deciat, Shinrarta, etc.

So it's interesting that, in your experience, the emergent co-op or "PwP" gameplay was better in the past than now. It would seem like many of the changes implemented since then might have been intended to make these things easier to experience. But, that doesn't mean they were successful, at least in your experience. That's interesting.

Well it's the least you could say. All that you describe has been FDev reacting to gankers. It has effectively been completely neutered. But the biggest failure of ganking, IMO, is the failed "culture" around it. It just wasnt epic and interesting enough. I mean, you could always try your hardest to make those things exciting by writing some fan fiction around it, or try to stir things up with twitch and some sniping. But now people are just swimming in money, they simply dont care.

Used to be if you got destroyed you went back to the last station you docked with. Consider how far some places are from the Bubble.

Like, I don't know, Colonia?

You shouldnt binge Elite that much frankly. It's a slow burn. Actual life gives at best 4 hours of leisure time per day with work and sleep and so on. On average you're doing 10 hours of gankening per day since June. Assuming you're not joking. The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
Part timers all My average since the end of Jan is 342 hours a month but in the begining I was only doing 6 hours a day and I had a week off for ship overhaul nowadays when duty is a joy im engaged from every waking moment.

So many to do , so little time to do them 💀

Sorry I had you on mute but dont take it to heat I did it ages ago because I deduced correctly that you're unlikely to say anything interesting. I only responded to your obvious falsity because I was bored and everyone else was having a shot so why not.

Anyway back to the matter at hand why are you lying about this when its fairly easy to debunk your lies?

This is from July 20th 2019 which even in these hard Covid times wasn't 6 weeks ago. If anyone with half a noggin uses the search function the forum provides they'll be able to see a long line of posts you made both pre 20th July 2019 and post 20th July 2019.
Is this another forum undead? Necromancy is strong if so

I love arxe to I have the whole set but really protesting over a button colour then still having the protest as an avatar months after the fact is just lazy.

I mean look at my avatar its top 10 for originality and it's at least tapping into current affairs.
My avatar is not so original :( but I was sticking with the Sci Fi theme of the game and forums and well Q was my favorite Star Trek character. How can he not be everyone's favorite? If only I possessed his arrogance, conceit and utter disregard for life...
