Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Please, there's enough space to discuss Odyssey, there's no need to bring it here...
The point is that there are other companies who know how to release games, then progress the technology while people are playing it. CIG is still figuring out the flight model, networking, persistence and server architecture eight years on.

lol, thanks for making me feel better about SC.

I can help with that!

You are welcome 😊 I mean you could play your SC thing and I could play released space games in VR .
Even SQ42 has to be better than this games for the budget it gots or? +$300 millions and nearly a decade of dev time no Game shipped.
Not even a trailer could be made for this budget 😂😂 Maybe „some“ people could play SW squadrons crossplatform (campaign + MP) on oct 2020 in VR while some shills playing squadrons too and suggest CIG hey we would like this FM+ the MFDs from ED and DCS . Maybe some would like to suggest a roadmap for this? Or some shills thinking $39 Dollar for this +the Ed update vs my almighty VG ..... No way Sc has to be better ...

If you could look back at those old times look at some old FS2 games and their mods like BSG Diaspora. They have a better atmosphere and physics than Sc. Maybe it is the ancient physic code from FS2 CR is searching?

Glad you enjoy Sc keep it up. I mean I like Sc fans it is a free entertaining for me. I sit back enjoy those dreamcrafting while I play some real games an participate in some real PvP ladders. Looking for your next Video 😏

in what way would that enhance the gameplay of a space sim ? What gameplay mechanics is there that requires roads to exist ?
Roads are a major tool to create gameplay for all ground vehicles. There is more and more ground vehicles on SC, they need specific gameplay and roads are usefull for this.

An example among others : on some planets, you can't go from one outpost to another with a rover because of all rocks/steep hills/mountains. Roads are needed.

what the hell you might be smoking to think that this actually shows something impressive.
Once again you don't understand why I post. I've never say it's impressive because it's not. You seem to think I post news here with a desire to impress everyone. It's not the case.
I just post what I find interesting about the alpha for other to see it. Nothing more.
I talk about roads because I have info about roads and a lot here doesn't know that CIG want to add roads in the alpha. I just give an info to people I know they don't have this info.

Ah, there's good ol' Derek "cherry-pick the bits that agree with my viewpoint" Smart... The actual conversation over at SA was that the analysis on the funding data was fairly inconclusive, and that Benford might not be the best tool for the job anyway. But then, that sort of nuance wouldn't give Derek the hundredth "smoking gun" to point at.

I was reminded of his usual tone a little while watching that Citizen Tech Talk chap mentioned some pages back... lots of bravado, lots of hyperbole, lots of "I'm right, you're wrong, that's the end of it." CTT at least seems to have a reasonable "hit rate" when it comes to his claims, whereas Derek was always more of a shooting from the hip kinda guy... Not particularly fond of either of them though.

Still, they give the backers an excellent boogeyman to point at when "GOONS!" isn't enough. 😄

I've no idea where you got the information that Ci¬G want or plan to add roads in Star Citizen...didn't you watch the video where they explained it was less than likely they'd be able to add any such feature outside of small scale racetracks to charge around in buggies?...Even if they managed that due to the proc gen nature of the planets....their words, not mine.

As a long term backer...I have absolutely no issue with folks liking features of SC should that be warranted, but making stuff up contrary to actual information available just pushes my 'nope' button.

Nothing sets off SC backers more than space legs and pretty planets in Odyssey. It's going to be fun watching the melt downs.
I don't see any meltdown as such...at least not amongst the grown ups who feel no guilt about liking both games... or certain elements of both. If FDev manage to make the planetary FPS stuff as nice looking as it is in SC, I'll be quite content. One thing I do love about SC is just the getting out on foot bit, a bit of hand mining occasionally or just wandering about... don't care about any form of FPS pew in the slightest...there are many, many other games that do it properly, way too many to suffer Ci¬G's pathetic efforts in regurgitating it.

I'm cautiously looking forward to Odyssey... mostly expecting a pointless grindfest of something or other involved with the hand scanner/sampler or similarly prohibitively gated gameplay involved with the FPS stuff...we'll see. As long as it's not turning Elite into Arc evolved or cloning base building gameplay from NMS in some way...and if it drags me back into to Elite for even a short time, I'll be dutifully grateful. :)
