Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I gave been saving up the bonds to unlock Bris. No reason other than I was in the right ship and fancied the combat. Having seen her offering I wonder why I bothered. Ho hum.
I'm surviving CZs much better, mostly by picking my target and not moving to the tough ships too early. I haven't lost shield near as much and when I do I generally run until they are back up.

Does anyone have advice on a half decent desk chair which won't make me go bankrupt? It doesn't need to be gamer specific.

This probably won't help much unless you can find a second hand one... but it is really comfy for me. It cost me zero pence as it was part of a long service gift :cool::poop::LOL::love: (mixed emotions there).

I may have posted somehting similar earlier in the thread but I'm boogard if I can find it now.

EDIT - I'm currently using the "mocha" custom HUD colours at the moment. However, I'd like a change and the default gives me a headache. If anyone has a decent schema for the XML, I'd love to see the settings. Mine are:

<MatrixRed> 0.7, 0.08, -0.08 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.15, -0.15, 1 </MatrixBlue>

Cheers!

My Alt was a bit short on Cash, so plotted a 100 system R2R route.
220MCr and a big easily distributed boost for my BGS Work.

Right at the end of the route, EDMC+Canonn Plugin told me I was only 1 jump from a Thargoid Base, so popped in for the 1st time in years and grabbed a handfull of Meta Alloys for storage on my Mains FC.

Back in Asterope. Ten less Thargoids, eyethangyou. They are good fun and every ten gets me a 100,000 combat bonds and 1% of a combat rank. At this rate, I'll be with the undertaker before I reach Elite but at least I'll unlock Bris.

I just did some checking, I set out for Colonia on 12th August 2019. I am just about to re-enter the Inner Orion Spur for the first time in a year. I come back poorer, with fewer ships but with an FC, a thousand times more tags on stuff than when I left and a better understanding of the game.

I like Colonia and will return, however, I have business in the bubble. I have to stop off at Shin, pick up some bits and bobs, sell some stuff, buy some stuff, then I want to complete my combat rank.

I'm doing well in CZ lows now and can move from one to the next without running out of chaff, ammo or hull. I can pretty much take my pick of what to take on too. I'll do some engineering, come back for a little more, but I'll have to increase the challenge and move up soon.
Though the CZ medium I strolled into a few days ago made mincemeat of my ship quite quickly and I fled with my tail between my legs.

When you do move up you will eventually encounter the Spec Ops wing there will be four in the wing, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Alpha is the lead and if you engage it the others will join in and swarm all over you but if you take them in reverse order that doesn’t happen so you can take them 1 on 1. They will be in strong combat ships with engineered equipment so will be tough but great fun if you can win.

In high zones you can also get Capital Ships these can be driven off but it takes time, a lot of modules to shoot off them, and long range weapons can help you.

The old advice about High zones being safer went out of date when we got 3 zones and the only difference ceased being the numbers of ships involved.

I got rather annoyed at myself after I switched exploration ships again. How do you guys just... settle? Yes, I could just buy all of the ship but then I'd have no time to fly most of them. I need a 'main' and it keeps eluding me.

I wish I could order in pieces from various distributors and just smack my perfect ship together already. I think I would take that over like, all of Odyssey.

Welp, battling scouts netted me the amount of bonds Bris required. So he's unlocked, just for fun times and grade fived... so now I have an FSD interdictor I'll probably never use :D

Wondered what all those low-level encoded mats were for.

I have all the ships (not a IV though) and no, I don't fly them all. So...

Exploraation: Phantom
Fighting: Thargoids: Krait II
Mining: Cutter
Combat: Corvette
Assassination: Mamba
Mission hauling: Python
Big cargo: T9
Wake scanner and HGE: Cobra III
Dav's Hope: DBX
When I eventually decide to go deep into the black: Anaconda

I also have a combat ready Vulture, a mission hauling T6 and an exploration AspX that I did use a lot but they've been mothballed. I could do the passenger stuff but those VIPs are fussy goits, I don't play well with a load of refugees and they all leave a mess on the ship; I'm not into the hospitality business.

Rather than a "main", which would be really difficult to achieve, I have ships buit for purpose i.e. what I feel like doing in any given session.
