Oh man, those comments....

The video is not really indicative of what everyone experiences. It's also more common on servers that need to be refreshed with a reboot. However... maybe you should wait until they get iCache into the Alpha and perhaps even Tier 0 or Tier 1 or 2 of Server Meshing before you give it a go. By then, Vulkan should be fully integrated and ready to better balance the load, giving more people better overall performance.

Yeah, but "location producer" would imply, to me, that he would be working at the filming location(s), and however you look at it traveling for a sided-gig is not a good look taking into account how his day job is funded. Unless it's for LA-based work in which case I can kinda get it. Still bad optics IMO, especially how quiet he's been re:CIG.

For me, a plan is the details on how you're going to achieve your goals. This includes what you need, when you're going to need it, skill sets required, what to do in the case of likely contingencies, and a host of other details.

This is not a plan:

1) Dreams.txt
2) ???
3) Profit

Or at least... it wouldn't be a plan if the whole thing was being funded by the planner. Given that this project is now six years past its proposed release date with no projected completion date in sight, recently released a "roadmap to a roadmap" that won't include major and minor milestones, and has been lying to backers since day one of the Kickstarter, it's pretty clear to me that ??? includes "sell dreams.txt to the gullible."

Which, upon reflection, makes it a pretty good plan. It just isn't a plan to make the BDSSGE.

CIG's plan:
  • dream
  • put something related on sale*
  • add pretty (but unoptimized) assets related to dream in the PU*
  • later add somehow clunky tier-0 implementation of dream
  • maybe "refactor" the assets to shoehorn the dream into it
  • claim it needs a never done before tech to be finalized
  • never touch it again
  • reboot
  • rinse & repeat

*those can be inverted

Of course dream is really worked on and hopefully delivered if it mainly relies on 3d assets, if it can be somehow sold or help sell something.

Not necessarily, he could just be managing location arrangements - location scouting is done by location scouts who the producer manages. It's a documentary, after all, and there's probably more work with airlines and e-mail correspondence than at actual filming locations. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Crobers isn't really required anymore. There is enough people who know how the scamming works and they all have no interest in cutting off their revenue stream.

Aye, its hard to believe that this thing is only known or run by a few people. There have to be more people in on it to protect the facade and provide damage control / keep the fleecing going. My favorite Lando certainly is part of the core group but there probably are a whole list of peeps in on it.

There's also an unknown number of human shields defending the facade across the Internet.
