Hi Danquememe
First some personal history. I've played this game since the kickstarter release, so I'm fairly well versed in the majority of basic features of the game, trade, mining, exploration etc. but not much experience in PVP Combat. Time spent in play 38weeks, 3 days, 13 hrs & 17min to be precise.
Okay, I have over 11 billion in assets & current status of ready cash/credits over 7 billion (no! I refuse to buy a Carrier!

). With that out of the way I'll describe a recent scenario that took place a day or two ago.
Reading the forum, particularly your post and various reply's I decided to travel over to Deciat in open to see what would happen if I docked at the local station Garay Terminal and then to proceed to Felicity Farseer's terminal. I'm in an Imperial Clipper which is moderately engineered something like 564 boost speed.
I left Garay Terminal and supercruised to Farseer. Within a few minutes I was interdicted by a Cmdr piloting a Krait MK2. I submitted and boosted away releasing chaff.
Within about 30 seconds I was destroyed having not fired a shot. I rinsed and repeated with more or less the same outcome 3 times. The credit loss is no problem obviously as the rebuy is in single figures. What actually irked me was that I sent a 'friend' request to the Commander with the intention that he/she might give me some tips on how to at least survive the encounter, and
why I was destroyed so quickly. I've not heard anything as yet., but hopefully might be contacted in the near future. Then again perhaps this is not the Cmdr's intention. No attempt was made to contact me before, during & after the attack so

...I presume this is at least 'normal' for some 'Competitive Pilots'.
While I was in the system there was various local chatter mentioning this particular Cmdr. One instance was that an unarmed pilot was just trying to play the game (we'll call him pilot 'a' for now which isn't his name obviously) I presume he was trading or perhaps trying to upgrade/engineer his ship. He seemed fairly new to the game so I did feel a bit of sympathy as to his loss. The cmdr in the Krait also destroyed him as well. My feeling was that pilot 'a' should have really been playing in solo, at least until he'd had a bit more experience.
I can understand why I was attacked, and really I should get to know how to engineer my ship for the occasional pvp encounters. I hate the word 'Ganker' btw I'd prefer to call these sort of pilots 'CCP's, Competitive Combat Pilots!

I personally can't understand why the Krait Cmdr would attack and destroy an unarmed ship, maybe just firing a warning shot or cause some slight damage, at least it would have given pilot 'a' the understanding that the outcome could have been worse, and THEN contact pilot 'a' to see if he was interested in learning how to survive such attacks etc.?
I'ts obvious 'why' a good proportion of players opt for a 'solo' game' or in a private pve group, combat is not high on their list, they
may like a bit of combat, and for some the npc pirates etc. are at their level, maybe in some cases more than enough. People have different levels as to what they class as fun in this regard, and what they are personally capable of, and in a private group with friends the scenario is different.
One thing I will say though is that while we have Cmdrs that destroy other Cmdrs ships indiscriminately in open play and not take into account the structure/weaponry & class of that particular ship for example...whether the ship is kitted out for trading/exploration defence or combat (it only takes a few minutes to target the ship and see it's status)...then 'Competitive' 'Combat' Play will always be second rate, and not looked upon as a 'fun' feature of the game....only to a minority. PVP in open has got to have at least
some moral code or we'll find that PVP will suffer a lingering decline.
