Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

Why would anyone need to prove anything? Just go & have a look for yourself. Can you 'prove' this stuff never happens?

IME the Wolf 397 crowd are a salty lot, in Wyrd I've never met a jerk. But I'm generalising of course, I'm sure there are exceptions.

Yeah that's not what I'm saying. I jumped on the bandwagon of some people claiming stupid stuff, but thankfully it was a rare occurence.

In terms of escaping though, some gankers don't like it and will try to belittle you out of frustration presumably that one doesn't stay on and let their ship explode, but yeah that's not the same thing.

So someone spouts nonsense that gankers complain about fast ships escaping and call it an exploit and instead of showing proof, I need to go look it up myself. Sure ok. So I guess when you lie, it's my responsibility to find proof. Whatever Riverside, just keep propagating lies bud.

I agree, there are some very rare gankers that will say stupid stuff, same with other players, but for someone to say fast ships escaping is an exploit is absolutely d and I wanna see proof.

There are jerks in every slice of the community. You seriously think 'the ganker community' is the exception?

Never said there aren't jerks in the ganker community, why are you trying to change the subject?

I said, gankers calling fast ships escaping and exploit is a d lie and I want to see proof. And your response is, 'well some gankers are jerks and say stupid stuff'. Ok, I'm not arguing with you about that but I wanna see proof of a ganker saying fast ships are an exploit.

Any evidence is going to be anecdotal, not a video (probably). Just take their word for it. I've been accused of all sorts, it's just a thing that happens when you meet a sore loser.

So I just need to take Brrokks word for this
Yes, I've seen running away in normal space described as an exploit. :)
Someone who has said many times that he doesn't play in open.

Yeah, I'll just take his word for it on something that is obviously a blatant lie made to try to make gankers, as a whole, look bad.

Funny how you're so quick to take Brrokks word for something as nonsensical as this but you won't offer the same courtesy for gankers when they make more reasonable statements.

Here, you are insinuating that I habitually lie, or have lied a lot. Should I get all salty & demand proof? Or should I just accept that this is just you attempting to undermine my credibility because you don't like what I say?

Do you see how this kind of attitude (of yours) is analogous to players in the game making false accusations of cheating?

I remember a time when High Wake was THE way out because, unless you could kill the FSD, there was no way to prevent it from functioning. The griefers of the time complained that it wasn't fair and, viola, there was a new mechanic.

I haven't personally seen the fast ships thing, but I Have seen other, "It isn't fair, my prey got away," complaints.

There might be 1 in 1000 that would complain that a person they're attacking is using a ship fast enough to run away, but that's nonsense.

I really have a problem with @Brrokk making it sound like something a few fringe idiots say is the popular opinion of most gankers. Its absolutely ridiculous.
I see him liking these comments but I'm still waiting for proof.

If you're gonna say something as ridiculous as that, show me proof. I'm not gonna go fact check your nonsense. If you're gonna say something as ridiculous as gankers complain about fast ships escaping and calling it an exploit, I wanna see proof.
You're not responding Brrokk because it's a d claim and you know it.
Hey, I know we were talking about fringe idiots. I was replying to Stigbob who was already ridiculing people who were bad losers against speed builds. I wasn't suggesting that you or any other sensible PvPer would hold this view.

No, I don't know where I read it now, but I clearly remember someone complaining that his opponent ran away in normal space so there was no way for him to stop their shield rebuilding. He would have preferred a chance to catch the opponent again in supercruise before the shield was restored. He thought this was how a fight was intended to play out and therefore running in normal space was an exploit which couldn't be countered.
It was indeed somewhere in the Hotel California debate; decrying an apparently unfair way to decline combat. I just recalled it for amusement; if you don't believe it, though, all we lose is a laugh.

I'm happy to take anyone at their word if I have no reason to doubt them. I've had similar stuff thrown at me. I'm not going to conjure up video evidence, because I don't save stuff like that. Just accept it's something that happens :)

Ok, fair enough. Thank you clarifying and I apologize for taking you out of context.

Just to add some clarity to what you might have heard, there are some people who will engage in PvP combat and as soon as they loose their shields, they speed away to get their shields back. It is a very cheap and frowned upon tactic for legitimate PvP. I had someone with a Chieftain try to do it to me a week ago actually. He pulled me (while I only had 64% hull remaining and was heading back to repair) then tried run from me when I dropped his shields, to get them back. He was pretty bad and I still clapped him but all did was draw out the fight.
Its a very annoying tactic and anyone engaging in legit PvP should be discouraged from doing it.

However, if it was a ganker complaining about someone they were attempting to gank, speeding away in a faster ship, then yes, they are a fringe idiot.

Why would anyone need to prove anything?
Because someone made a claim, they're obligation to prove it not have the other disprove it. Again this is the logical fallacy nonsense that you and a few others engage in. It's really that simple.

I am seriously going to doubt that but even if remotely true that is a very low brow thing to do. My humble opinion of course.

If there's a comment from a ganker saying fast ships escaping is an exploit, then show me.

The fact you think its an unlikely thing to have been said shows you are fairly new. I had one guy tell me I should move house in case my rural internet inconvenienced him, I wrongly assumed he was joking.

Don't underestimate just how unreasonable the people who want everyone to play their way can be.

I've been commenting on your posts for over a year now so you know that's not true. I've been a part of the ganking and PvP communities for almost 4 years now and although I've seen people say some stupid stuff, I've never heard anything as ridiculous as what I thought Brrokk was saying. He clarified on the previous page though so we're all good.
