First and foremost, because logging has completely ruined PvP piracy.A very valid question. Another one is: Why do you care?

The particular example that I had in my mind when I responded to @Frillop Freyraum was when @Bigmaec and I patrolled the triple hotspot in Borann together, fighting off gankers who attacked mining vessels; Bigmaec would hail a mining Python (or was it a Conda?), and instead of responding the ship just disappeared.
I just think that if you don't want to run the risk of positive as well as negative encounters why choose Open. It was just a bit lame, and unfortunate for all involved as we could've had a decent session there together, which wouldn't have involved the miner getting their ship destroyed.![]()
I can confirm that a meta-gankbuild frag mamba excels at any kind of large ship assassination mission.Oh yikes, I just tried in EDSY replacing the multicannons in my FdL with frags. Why was I not informed? Trying this is on my to-do list now.
The main use of that FdL is "Pirate Lord" missions. They usually turn out to be Corvettes these days.
Yes, I've had experiences like that. A friend and I were FdL and Python in a Res. An AspE dropped in, but in the time it took us to send a wing invite he was gone again. I don't blame him, it's just a result of the game featuring instakill combat with no consequences.

And if those players keep logging into Open, you may end up instancing with them instead of more engaging individuals that I'd rather play with.
Piracy as a mechanic has always been possible, but players are unable to trust their attacker to act reasonably.First and foremost, because logging has completely ruined PvP piracy.
I mean yeah, I have no choice ultimately, but it's still disappointing when it happens (i.e. see my edit in my post above).Yes lame. But play your own way, let them play theirs. Same as spawncamping, the game either allows it or can't prevent it so just get used to it![]()
What kind of nonsensical response is that? PvP piracy sucks because of loggers, period. There's no if's, and's or but's about it.Piracy as a mechanic has always been possible, but players are unable to trust their attacker to act reasonably.
If your playstyle is dependant on there being willing victims around (players like me btw) you need to find a reason for them to want to hang around. Entertain them basically, put on a show. To some extent you seem to do this with your gank evasion lessons.
When I went through my PvP piracy phase I was surprised how many didn't log on me, although it probably helped that I only flew seemingly harmless ships like the Cobra 3 or iCourier. I can't blame players to expect the worst and I usually have my back up as soon as I get interdicted - 9/10 times it's a RP-less gank so I either prepare to be shot at and evade, or deploy hardpoints and shoot without any foreplay.Yes, I've had experiences like that. Chicken / Egg ?
Loggers appeared because of gankers, so who destroyed PvP piracy?
Its all part of the game, using in game mechanics, logging out of the game to avoid death or piracy is not part of the game. Its an exploit and it's cheating.Chicken / Egg ?

The smart pirate doesn't pull over a Cutter unless they operate in a wingOk. I've never been successfully pirated. Is that because all pirates suck?
ETA I have two trade Cutters, they are named "The Golden Goose" (ie pirate me don't kill me) and "Bait".
I've been involved in those CLogging discussions for years, tbh the CLoggers probably came first. The Code used to really make an effort & I miss that.

They also rely on inexperienced pilots in paper builds, to some extent at least, to be fair - although I took the "sustainable piracy" approach - due to the ships I flew I'd only ever ask for a handful of tons of cargo, which most victims would still decline in their overwhelming greed, and then give me grief over comms because that harmless little ship dropped their shields and disabled their drives![]()
And because gankers. Probability of interdictor being ganker who would just blast your ship to pieces vs pirate who would want your cargo, or some of it, is towards gankers. So many of the victims choose menu-logging gank evasion tactic. What kind of nonsensical response is that? PvP piracy sucks because of loggers, period. There's no if's, and's or but's about it.

You may have misunderstood me there - I was just saying that I probably wouldn't bother pulling a Cutter as a single pirate unless I manage to fire hatch breakers immediately before you can boost - requires a fair bit of luck/timing I'd say. At least the other ships are slower so scooping a few tons shouldn't be too difficult before they wake out.I think you're making a lot of assumptions there
The Golden Goose is my blockade runner, I've never lost the hull, I've never had to high wake to escape. I have had players 'escort' me to my destination, I once rather memorably had a Code Pilot clear a path for the wing I was in after one of the wing reported they had been popped by the guy. I invited the pirate to join the wing & we shared our mission reward. An eventful day
They are just players, looking for something entertaining to do just like you or I. I enjoy their enthusiasm & am happy to share my time with anyone that's not a jerk![]()
