Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Out in the black! Wanna come back to have some fun with the shenanigans in the bubble but...I like it out here.
Sag A Colonia all done. Mapping ass off in between.
Hey these high metal content worlds pay well aside from the normal bodies that pay good like waterworlds elws terraformables etc.
Added high metals to my eddi list hehe.. and now I'm mapping 100s of em!!
Explorer woes ..

That's cool. I did pretty much the same thing a while ago, in a Krait MKII. It was a great trip, I found cool stuff, and had a lot of interesting times. I even found my first (and only so far) untagged Earthlike world.

This year, after I got my carrier, I returned to that ELW and spent a while in the area, tagging and mapping a little bubble of my own around that spot. Great fun!

I loved reading about that project of yours, inspired me to try something similar.

Anyone on Xbox with an interest in PvP, now is a great time to get into it. It's been very active lately, and new folks are always encouraged to try. A good portion of the Xbox PvP community can be found on discord, if you follow the link in my sig. Come hang out!

Thank you for the pointer to your signature link, will check it out.

I'm ready for my Cutter now, can't resist a bargain. (I'm assuming the 20 percent as to the Shin Dez discount.) Just don't know what to do with it when I get it!

Can really recommend the Cutter for mining. Have mine permanently set for mining and haven't bettered it.

Yeah. I use the Prismatics for 2 things.

1) My big ships that I want to shield tank with (Corvette in particular), and
2) to enable me to fit a smaller shield and still have good protection on my cargo runners and explorers. I can fit a 1 or 2 size smaller prismatic and still get good results.

They also suit my personality, or rather my gameplay preferences. I don't like to engage in hours of combat. I like one-offs, like assassination missions, and if I go to a HAZRES I only stay for maybe an hour at the most.

So it's not very important to me that my shields recharge quickly. I just want the max MJ I can get :)

I think bi-weaves make a lot of sense if you're engaging in constant combat though. You can boost away for a bit and recharge easily.

That's exactly how I think of it. Although, I have class 7 biweaves on my Corvette and they're still pretty slow to come back up. So I am currently pondering trying prismatics - I'm just shy of 4000Mj with the biweaves so a lot less overall resistance than the prismatics.

One of my screenshots got featured in this week's livestream. And you saw it here first! :D

I think I get a paint job. Or not. I don't remember, lol.

running around Eurybia Still getting a bloody nose in Cz. decided to push the boundaries on python with a 6a shield and hull tank it all., https://inara.cz/cmdr-fleet/120831/1875583/
and in-between that do so transport cargo https://inara.cz/cmdr-fleet/120831/1823955/ to keep the creds rolling in. Don't seem to get the Confirmed kills anymore :( just a battle won..well done commander..then they all disappear..the cowards :)

still tier 4 on blue mafia
tier 3 on the other

Down to my last 26 million creds :( lost two pythons @ 8.6 million and a bad time trying to sell trit. brought it at the wrong price and can't sell it with out a heavy losses.sold now! loses 16 million

I'm guessing you've not unlocked many engineers. With fixed weapons you are going to be need a high skill level to keep those on target and you out of theirs, prioritise an engineer for those thrusters to improve your time on target. Imho. EDIT Dirty Drive Tuning. Drag Drive effect.

I know you didn't ask for build feedback and we're all different (and obviously I might just suck!) but I wouldn't prefer that build for a CZ, personally. It's quite a pricey ship (and rebuy) for a less than optimal offensive output. Yes, engineers help a lot, but for that money I'd jave gone a different route. A Courier will give you a lower rebuy if you ahve the Imperial rank, but if not you could get a Krait Phantom with military hull reinforcement for almost exactly the same money as a Python with your reinforced alloy. I'd rather take that Phantom, with a 6C biweave rather than a 6A, and gimball all of the weapons (beam and MC is a hard-to-better go to) into a CZ. That gives you a quicker, more manoeuvrable platform with a good offensive output and great manoevrability, but with that hull and quicker shield recharge your survivability will be much higher. The cost of Phantom + military hull is almost exactly the same as a Python + reinforced alloy unless I'm entirely misremembering. The Phantom can still be repurposed as a trader for the in between missions (admittedly with lower capacity than the Python, but then you won't be paying rebuys, any more). Just a thought. You can swap across many of your internals from Python to Krait.

I do a lot of combat, these days, across Corvette, FDL, Mamba, Courier and both Kraits. I also have a mission runner Python set to haul 244T. I wouldn't take the Python into a CZ with that much confidence.

Sorry if I just became Mr Preachy. Trying to help you avoid the rebuys given you're running low on funds!!

I think the Krait MK2 with the down the center line middle size 3 mount is one of the better combat ships.
A fixed heavy DPS weapons of any type down that line makes you feel good when up close and personal.
Gimbling all the weapons around it causing damage while you get on target makes for a quicker take time.
If you set the fire groups correctly, power and heat management can be easy with say 3 weapons on button 1
and 2 devastating weapons on button 2.

Agreed, but the Phantom feels (even!) more chuckable, and I needed to match the budget for ship and armour to Python + reinforced alloy and gimballed weapons will give most people more time on target which can offset the hp. I do agree overall, but prefer my Phantom for combat as when combat ships get too unwieldy I just find myself thinking I might as well have brought the Corvette! You're absolutely right, though.

Am I the odd one out for putting anti-shield lasers on fire button 1 and anti-hull multicannons on button 2?
I'm on Xbox and there's a weird thing for me where the two fire groups don't really work. Doesn't matter too much in a CZ or a massacre mission, particularly as I can synthesise ammo. If I think I'm running short I tend to dip or lift the ship to favour the laser hardpoint (easily done on the FDL, slightly less so on the Mamba). But no, it isn't weird.
