Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It is pretty funny though, this endless cycle of claiming things that are not true, years pass nothing comes of it, they repeat the same claims, more years pass and on and on it goes.

You would think people would have learned not to believe these claims and not to give more money. You would think reporters that keep hearing the same claims over and over in multiple interviews would clue in to ask "Have these claims not been made before? What happened there."

well apart from the few people who lived through these cycles and somehow choose to disregard all the broken promises to continue having confidence the majority of defense comes from newbies who havent been through this repeating process yet and demonstrate unshakeble trust into CIG because they can still see the potential and have fun (stick + tire = fun)

<waves hands>

You WILL buy an Idris and a Sandwurmie cosplay outfit - and you'll like it.

LOL you make it sound like it would need force to make people like it. I m a SC "hater" and I would absolutrely LOVE those outfits ^^

I expect a ton of deleted posts and banned users on Spectrum...the usual white knighters have been duly deputised and are going around reporting any posts the mods don't pick up for immediate removal... so a concerted effort to do a Wyatt Earp and clean up the town. It would be tragic if it wasn't so utterly hilarious :D

To save them some time...I already banned myself ;)

SC Leaks doesn't seem happy
Here's a bit of background: No single dev has a release date for Squadron 42. Squadron 42 isn't even worked on by every developer.

I'm also not privvy on every movement made in CIG.

Were previous statements I've made fabricated by me? No, these were honest statements by developers within CIG. I apologize for stating dates that now seem so extremely optimistic that it makes no sense to keep repeating them as fact. I shouldn't have ever done that.

When CIG publicly announces a date that is when it's most likely to happen. Small scale stuff like the ROC or the Odin is easier to place on a timeline, but Pyro (which is now likely next year) and Squadron (which is more than likely not until 2022 from language used by CIG) were irresponsible to even vaguely hint towards their internal goals. From this we'll be looking deeper into how we approach internal sources and I truly hope we don't again mislead you all into a false sense of optimism.

Sorry.
=================
In case you're wondering: This is in regards to two general statements I've made throughout the year -

"Pyro is split up and going to release at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021" (Put back together for a early 2021 release as one whole)

"Squadron 42 is on time and likely going to release next year mid 2021" (Not on time, likely 2022 but this is still very unknown. Delayed for polishing reasons and perfectionist ****)

They are answering so quickly I can't keep up.

Just kidding. Unless Star Citizen leaks is missing answers, there are only seven answers so far, in 60 minutes.

Speaking of leaks, yamiks showed this snapshot of a mining pod in his recent video. My squadron mates and I were speculating whether this was one of the new vehicles planned for Odyssey ( which CR seems very worried about).

Unconfirmed of course, it's a leak after all.

What's mining currently like in SC? Is there any mining at all?

One of the ships I sold off when i bailed out of SC. Have zero confidence CIG is going to get the mechanics right.

ED has the basic foundation now for a dedicated data runner but they have to tweak it so people have the incentives to make real decisions about what to sacrifice for this ability.

Mining does exist as a gameloop in SC and in different forms. Its actually one of the more developed features of the game. Its Mole_HD's favourite activitiy as I understand.

You can do hand mining on foot or mining from in the Mole (if you have paid the few hundred dollars for one or have bought one and its not been wiped).

Not sure why space game devs are obsessed with mining....

We haven’t been happy with how effectively we’ve been showing progress on Squadron 42
Translation: “we previously accidentally showed that progress was pretty much nil, and this was communicated far more effectively than we wanted.”

we felt the previous format didn’t do a good job of all in communicating just how much work is going on.
Translation: “we communicated that there was pretty much no work going on, but adding ‘pretty much’ made that representation inaccurate.”

Watched a video about solo vs multicrew mining in the Mole and while being impressed with the ship it brought home to me the risks of not thinking through how ship interiors will affect gameplay (in this case mining).

I certainly do not relish having to position the ship, walk to the attached mining turret, walk back to the cockpit to make position adjustments then walk back to the turret etc...

Mining in ED is definitely more practical for the solo player though I wish there was someway multicrew would make large ships more efficiently run.

re: mining gameplay dev popularity - i think the dream is to mine raw materials, refine & process them & combine all these to build things. Unfortunately, few games ever get to the building part much less get it right.
