Chris dreaming again.

I mean.... why? Why would you even want to keep track of this? What will happen when players latch onto an idea like this and start dropping thousands of coffee cups in a forest? Its going to kill performance and the database.

I'd quite like to see someone spell out "Derek Smart was right" in candles

They really don't know what they're doing do they?

Why do I get the impression from the way the SQ42 devs are talking, that alot of this progress/work is relatively recent ? What were they doing for the first 6 years or so ?

I reckon latter half of 2022 at the earliest for releasing SQ42 (assuming they last that long) .

Squadron 42 will be done when it is done, and will not be released just to make a date but instead once all the tech and content is finished, polished and it plays great. I am not willing to compromise making a game

This, in a nutshell, is why no publisher would even come close to his obese rear, let alone fund any game of his. Publishers, unlike backers, are not suckers.

Thanks for the continuing entertainment though.

In the intro CR said that he pulled the earlier video because it wasn't showing stuff that was finished - so I guess that the last 6 months have been doing that station they showed off.

They also said 'everything manually designed, no procgen as we don't want people saying "I've seen this before"', and also 'this is a small station - lots of places are much bigger - like planets', so 2022 sounds optimistic to me.

"Along the way we have built a company of over 640 people, split between five studios across four time zones, no small feat when we started with no office, zero employees and a few collaborators eight years ago!"

300,000,000 may have a part to play in this achievement
Not actually happening the way he describes it probably also helped.

You may be right. I do not think the Comms Array is completely finished either , the Devs said there were still lots of things to sort, like the Hangar, which was not in the "Fly Through" either. Although I will admit it does look nice.

Eve and World of Warcraft are still going strong over a decade later and my vision for Star Citizen is far longer.
planet tech allows us to render and simulate entire planets and moons down to the smallest rock or flower... procedural tools we’ve developed allow our artists to “paint at scale”...
So, if tools have been developed already, where are those planets (plural), rendered down to the smallest flower?

We already have the professions of other space games right now in 3.11: exploration, hauling, trading, mercenary, outlaw, bounty hunting and mining.
Hauling!
Push! Pull!
Sokoban career, I'm coming!!

Like our tech hurdles, it’s not a matter of if Star Citizen will ever reach critical mass but when.
No-no-no Chris, no "whens", remember? Now I have to permaban you, no refund.

The future gets brighter quarter by quarter, as every release is an incremental
Until it is not up to Christopher's standards and everything has to be redone from the ground up.

Hold on....

What exploration? Trading... erm... not really what people think of when they think about trading.

Also, call me old fashioned, but space games generally have a lot more space in them. Like more than 1 system.

Is there an exploration role? Is it just like the worst bits of ED exploration like finding things in "poi" spots on the planet surface?

I thought Chris said no comprimise but his benchmark for what qualifies as profession gameplay is dubious

So yes, I do feel like we have been meeting “The Pledge”.
That's a bold statement for absolutely zero delivered product. Also their clarification on "no procgen" is more than troubling for the future of those promised 100 star systems.
