Managed to get on for about 20 minutes to try out the new equipment that transferred down from the bubble overnight. Can confirm 3 Gauss Cannon on a Krait is a lot of fun against Scouts and the two C3 Thermal Vent beams kept the heat manageable whilst at least doing some damage of their own. Hopefully they’d be more effective against Interceptor shields but the triplet of Gauss should be pretty good there too. Also occurred to me that the ship might be half-decent against human NPCs as well, now?
Well with pirates showing up in about half of the threat 4 NHSS and not every interdiction being by a player you should have plenty of chances to do some testing.

It takes more gauss shots to take down the npcs but it is doable.
In my case, I use a cutter for interceptors. It has enough weapon slots to have, while not a full set of AH weapons, I only need 3 of them for the AX part.
The rest are still my normal AH weapons.
What I do is turn the power off of the AH ones when I fight the thargoids and the other way around if I end up with some goofy NPC pirate.
One thing of note, if you get shut down fielded, ALL of your items get turned back on and you have to go turn off the ones you had off before. This usually means you lose your shield. Which is a bother given cutter shields take a while to recharge.

HEY FRONTIER (all caps to grab your attention),

For a future free module, I'd like the tech broker plans for a Guardian Gauss Cannon. I have no interest in grinding Guardian sites for this (some people love the "puzzle", I hate it), so this means I'll never bother with true Thargoid hunting, but if you make this weapon available via a CG, then I would be more inclined to give AX combat a try.

Just a thought. 🤷

ps - if Odyssey allows me to interact with Guardian sites on foot (in a different way than SRV, of course), then I might be more inclined to unlock Guardian tech myself. I just HATE having to drive an SRV through Guardian ruins and rubble, to the point it's not worth my time.

Unless you are switching off for power/heat reasons why not have the weapons in separate fire groups and switch that way?

Power priority? Squeezing the mostest juice out of your power plant?

EDIT: just seen that my answer is in your post anyway, sorry!

I think it would be a nice to have the option to power down unmapped hardpoints in a fire group so you could automatically do this. Obviously you’d get a “deploying” startup wait when switching but that would seem like an acceptable compromise for switching between “AX” and “AH” fire groups to me.

But then, I also want to be able to choose “Fixed / Gimballed / Turret” mode for weapons per fire group - with each weapon type supporting appropriate modes only (fixed == fixed only, gimballed == gimballed or fixed and turret == any of the three) to make fire groups far more useful / customisable.

Whoever thought this out made a big mistake.. having to go to a mega ship like the Golden Stag is ridiculous.. So many ships going to there that it's very hard to dock.. I tried for about 20 min today and never got to dock. They should have picked a regular star port. This sucks just sitting her getting Docking request Denied over and over for 20 min.. I gave up and just logged out..

Or go to solo to dock.

I've tried winging up with random CMDR's over the past few days and have had zero success. "Join my PG and I'll wing you up." Joins PG, no wing invite. "Yeah, yeah. My buddy's heading out, I'll send you a wing invite in a bit." Never sends wing invite.

If anyone is interested in showing a relatively new AX pilot the ropes, shoot me an FR in game (same name). I'd love a chance to pop an Interceptor. Currently equipped with only 3 C3 AX multicannons and two rails for popping scouts and have been happily doing so, just want a wing to take on the big game. ECONUS -5 GMT. PC CMDR.

I very much doubt that will happen tbh. It's one of the few things in this game i didn't mind grinding for, and to be fair, didn't actually take that long. Plenty of maps around showing you where everything is at a Guardian site, so not exactly difficult to do. Obvious good thing is once everything is unlocked, it's account wide so you don't have to grind things for each ship. Rather do that than mining, which is now mind numbingly boring plus scanners don't work correctly, limpets die for no reason, bits get left in asteroids, an absolute joke.

The Carrier has been brilliant for this!
Witch Head, Guardian sites, back to the bubble for the junk to unlock blueprints, back to Witch Head to sell.

Too bad we can't buy and sell materials via our fleet carriers. I'd offer top dollar for the unlock ingredients for Guardian Tech. I mean, I'm RICH, so why am I still scrubbing my own toilets? I should be allow to pay the new players to do that!

How many ARX would brokers cost? :)

Dang, dropped into a Threat Level 4 NHSS. Normally they're either 4-7 scouts or just a sensor. This one had a sensor and 2 scouts. I killed them, popped the sensor, and scooped up the bits, then another scout jumped in, followed by another. Popped them, and 3 more dropped in. This went on and one, with more and more taking turns dropping into the instance. Started with 310k in bonds, ended with 780k. So that means 48 scouts had entered the instance over about a 40 minute period (had to synthesis more AX MC ammo multiple times!) Has anyone else come across a NHSS TL 4 instance like this before?!

Yep, had a couple like that yesterday, and a few the last few days, I'm not running guardian tech yet so got a bit hairy and had to leg it a few times with just a conda loaded up with AX MC!

Tier 4 reached. 23hrs-ish to finish the job. Which I wouldn't entirely rule out. (And then we'll see if my prediction of one system getting hit anyway checks out...)

Knowing my luck the system hit will be wherever I’ve parked my ships ...
