"The Stones"

Okay, if anyone sees a rogue Fleet Carrier floating around the Coalsack having a party, could they please report it to the authorities ? The crew have mutinied and the Commander wants it back

Just jumped my FC "Joe's Gas Gun & Go" out there to support the search for "The Stones" and got the countdown to zero but no audio or visual effects of jumping. My FC is now saying its in the Musca region but when I launch a ship from it, I'm still in Timbalderis in the Bubble. Tried to redock and got a Krait error. Logged off and back in and the FC is in Musca but I'm not docked on it :mad:

Lemme see...the derelict megaship arrives in Chukchan - the same system the doomed scientific expedition sent their results to before things went very, very bad.
Makes sense - Musca->Chukchan is about 385 LY and it's only been 195 years. So they'll have got it on board the megaship, aligned for the hyperspace jump, had a drive failure some fraction of the way through and dropped out at high sublight speeds travelling in the same direction still.

(Given that the tugs were able to intercept it and both prevent an extremely destructive collision with the planet and establish a stable orbit rather than slingshotting it back out into deep space, it probably got well over 99% of the distance in hyperspace)

PS... any system with Ammonia stuff in it seems to have barnies in it. No NHSS, no Thargoid Structures sighted yet.

The operative word is "yet" - I smell a CG coming and probably in time for Halloween.

They're not giving us any rest are they? 🤣

OK, so I gotta pull up stumps now (2am local)... part of the reason I was able to stay up this long was my 3 week old has been dilligently sleeping on my lap for 4 hours, and I dared not wake him up. That's now changed, so off I go.

Good news is there's barnacles quite a ways out. I just found some in Coalsack Sector VU-O B6-6.

Hope you can pinpoint those other two systems!

I got the same thing but in my conda. took about a minute to get to jump but in that time I could hear a thargoid scanning me and I could see it on my radar. Just not in space as the jump animation was on.. Then my game crashed.

Excellent find! 178.44ly from Chukchan, also which fits the "Currently 1... Ly..." from the log (assuming they were going for something like "178 LY away" in the transmission). The crashed ship must be the "ship lau..." (assuming 'launched')

Somewhere, the screenshot was lost...

Had that six weeks ago ended with 1k ly between us had to call the FC back to me

By the way, CMDRs, there's also a local galnet article in the Chukchan system about a private detective coming out of retirement to figure out where the ship was supposed to be going - towards Barnard's Loop with fuel for 370LY, passing by HIP 39748 and HIP 33386.

I'm not very good at working these things out but I'm heading towards the first system there. But someone smart should be able to get a destination system from that info.

Now that is quite interesting - could that route be where we search for our missing K star, the first reported stop in their log? It's possible that towards Barnard's Loop was not only their destination, but where they started from as well...
