I know this is a bit OT for this thread but fellow rifters, I thought I would share a post I made on another forum (cut and paste job)
Assetto corsa in VR DK2
holy hell... this is amazing!!! . As a vr experience its up there with elite imo
lots of people having issues but i followed these instructions to the letter... on my modest rig (GTX670 OC), on low detail and in practice mode (so no other cars) it is a flawless experience. my rig may struggle with cars tho!.
going to try upping the settings a bit, but wow! once the rift resolution goes up this will be a game changer.
thanks to the poster who put this on the rift forums (n8rockerasu)

All right. I think I've got this working about as good as Kunos did, haha.
1. Set DK2 to Extended and make it your Primary monitor.
2. Use Shift+Win+left/right arrows to move all your goodies back to your main monitor (Logitech profiler, Steam client, etc).
3. Launch Assetto Corsa
4. Confirm that menu is loading up on your DK2. Once it does, use Shift+Win+left/right arrows to move the menu back to your main monitor. This will put the menu in windowed mode, but you can just double click the bar at the top to make it fullscreen again.
5. Go into the Assetto Corsa video settings. Choose "Oculus Rift" as your rendering mode. Change your resolution to 1920x1080 75hz (mine actually said 74hz for some reason, but whatever)
6. Lower any graphical settings that you think you need to. Remember, better to have lower visuals than a choppy framerate.
7. Launch race.
Race should load up on your DK2, and you can drive immediately. This threw me off at first because in the past you had to click the "Begin Race" icon or whatever. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. Just shift and go. At least that's how it works in practice anyway. Haven't tried a real race yet.
Recenter view = Control + Space
edit.... jesus..... just upped the detail to almost full.... (but shadows on medium) a couple of stutters on the hill climb, but the type 49 on spa is something else. I actually felt nervous appraching the bends.... you just do not get the feeling of how close to the ground you are with a screen imo, but in the rift i feel i can put my hand out and touch the road.
mental!......
I cant imagine it will run this well with other cars, but that will have to be for another night.
edit 2
many are saying it isnt 3D and it is just rendering in 2D.
I dunno... not convinced, I was looking at things like the car lock on the door and it looked 3D to me. I will have to check out closer another time but it had me fooled if so. :/
