Elite Dangerous (incl. Horizons) will be free to keep via Epic store from 19th November (offer available for a week)

So tl,dr and a question.
I finally get my second account (makes sense with a carrier somewhat as a droptank, and it's free so hey...)

I downloaded the epic launcher, made an account with a secondary E-Mail, and my original Elite works with the FD launcher.
Is that setup good to go, or do I have to do anything else?

You're all set for tomorrow; i've done the same.

You still have to install Epic launcher to do that. I don't think you can install (or even play?) any game from Epic without using the Epic launcher. All GoG Galaxy does is launch the launcher for you. Am I wrong about this?

edit: went ahead and tried installing a game from Epic library via GoG Galaxy and it opens up the epic store website. So there you go.
Only game I've got from Epic was The Outer Worlds. I needed the Epic launcher to install it but it launches without it.

FINALLY! THIS is when running my own email server is going to pay off! See?SEE?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I'll pass on this one as on many discounted offers. It's not the money that keeps me from having additional accounts. It is the requirement of an additional e-mail account, another back-door for spam and spy, ridded with EULA and attention grabbers and other vile stuff.

I shall be getting my alt today. I have got the loader in place. Will hopefully get to download once back from work.

Anyone want a tinfoil hat whilst i then apparently wait for my world to end?

Now just got two more things to work out:

what to call it...

What to do with it... (career path wise)... Ax combat specialist perhaps... Not something i do in my main..

Hmmm ... it's not open yet ....

Most email services let your create alternative email addresses (aliases), without a need for another account. For Google you can simple use the "+" plus sign like this: "original+alias@gmail.com", but I think there are other methods too.

Does anyone know if this will require a second installation? My hard disk is getting a bit full these days. I assume it will require use of an Epic games launcher but is it possible to use a symbolic link (via the mklink command) to link the actual game software folder itself so Epic and the desktop launcher can both share the same set of installed files?

Also, I know people are saying that you need to use a unique email address for the Epic Game Store login (i.e. different to your existing Steam or FD Desktop login address) and I just wanted to point out that Epic don't allow use of a sub-address to feign different email addresses.

From the Epic Store itself ...

The email you used to register your Epic Games account contained a sub-address.
Note: A sub-address uses “+” or “.” characters to create more than one account on the same email address (i.e. john+123@gmail.com or j.ohn@gmail.com).

I am curious, with installing a second installation of Elite from Epic, how would it effect journal files? as those are saved in app data, will it be separate so I can keep my logs separate from each other?
