I have it working fine ... perhaps because I didn't link my new account.

1. Go to Epic launcher, start new game.
2. Close Epic launcher, game running.
3. Go to Frontier launcher, start game.
4. Both games running ok :)

Nevermind. I had to link the Epic version to the new account. Sorted and up and running.

One question, though....is there any way to have seperate HUD colors for the two versions? I'm guessing no since the date is stored in the LocalApps under the user? I'd have to create a new login in on my local machine and use it to have separate HUD colors, yeah?

It is nice that the bindings carry over, though.

There is a HUD editor here; It would be a little fiddly, but having two copies of the correct file and moving each one in/out would be a way around having multiple windows profiles.

After downloading elite dangerous free from epic games I finally got it load through the epics game loader only to find out it loaded my other account version I load from steam. What do I need to do to get my new account version to load?

I'm not a programmer (any actual programmers feel free to chip in here), but as I understand it, the HUD colours are hard-coded into the game because when Frontier were developing the game way back when, they didn't consider the idea that people might want to change the HUD colours, so changing them now, even for Frontier, is not an easy task.

Yes yes, I know there's a way to edit the HUD colours, but it's a hack (one that Frontier allow) it's not a mod or a proper official way to change the HUD colours.

I can log in on my other accounts no problem. On the Epic Account:

For mw i created a new frontier account first.

Then i downloaded the game & linked to my new account.

The game fired up first time.

Got my new Alt set up via the Epic store last night. I've never seen so many sidewinders in the same instance since the alpha.

I was so tempted to go pirating but I didn't. I do wonder if advance players could join but they can only fly there in either a D rated Sidewinder or Eagle.

Don't feel too secure.
If you know what you're doing (you'll need to take an early excursion and buy the interdictor) and have the patience to collect ~1 MCr. in the starter region (not too difficult), you should be able to set up a nasty little customer (according to what should be available as listed in EDDB).

Where the heck can you buy a viper in the newbie zone? I must admit that nasty little customer would eat newbies for breakfast; that's why if you're an existing player, you should be restricted to a D sidewinder / E eagle.

According to EDDB, it should/could be available at Mawson Dock. But I'm not personally in the newbie zone (haven't claimed the Epic CMDR yet...), so EDDB is all I could rely on.

No, only one of them (my main account) is linked to the Steam account AFAIK. For the others, I just do 'Logout' (not 'Log out machine') and then go through the 2-step authorisation. Then it works. 🤷‍♀️ It's been a few years, but I'm pretty sure at least two of the others were bought from the Frontier store, and one bought during a Steam sale. Support had to sort that last one out. My main account came from the Kickstarter, and there's also another account with an LEP that I bought for my daughter (she's not interested unfortunately) through the backer's portal.

It seems though that the Epic version is its own custom launcher thing, and isn't compatible with this method - so you need multiple installs. Which is a pain.

My heads just exploded thinking about linking, multiple installs etc.

Plus in the alpha all the Sidewinders were shooting each other in and around the (usually bugged multiple) cap ship situations :D
