ANNOUNCEMENT Game Balancing Pt.3

As a little exercise as per my last posting on this thread I've just checked my Inara stats. Total assets are listed as 515,422,620cr and approximate time played is 403hr, which through the magic of mathematics (unless I'm totally thick...) gives us a whopping great grand total of... 1,278,964cr per hour :ROFLMAO:

Guess I was having too much fun to notice I wasn't making bank! I'll probably just have to stay out of financial balancing discussions as I'm clearly so far behind the meta I can't even see it.
Ya see, this is exactly what happens when you are enjoying the game instead of grinding like you're supposed to.

All this is fine until the moment you run out of money and you can not buy the vette that you made for a year with such success and sharpened it from the engineers ... then you will come here and reread these posts and ask questions

So if I don’t buy the Corvette and live within my means I won’t go bankrupt? I suppose I’ll just have to keep enjoying what I’ve got...

money money money.
My current t banking state is Cash 17,600,008,329. Total Assets 20,173,686,933

Who cares, what made me mad was that the bonus missions should be worth doing, at this time why bother even listing them.

Huh. I just summed up my current assets, carrier and installed module costs, and the value of my carrier balance... the time played in the codex estimates me at 3818 hours which sounds about right compared to my steam stats (which have it at 3854, but that includes time sat with the launcher open and not playing)

It makes me at 3,651,361 per hour. Apparently I've only had a lifetime profit of 2.5 billion from mining which sounds about right, not sure if shoving stuff in my carrier inventory and listing it on the market counts towards that.

My CMDR's assets are less than a quarter of that and even if they added two zeros on to the end of every mission reward, not a single one of them would be worth doing for the credits.

YES my point exactly Credits do not matter a bit they are a means to an end. I can do what I like when I like without having to worry about it. I only have to maintain it for the carrier up keep. 25 mill a week plus the tritium.

So how do we convince Frontier that the rewards need giving a boost, as they did the bounties?

I realized one side-effect of reducing the price of VO, LTD and Painite etc is that it has become harder to earn the cash needed to buy Tritium, thus effectively reversing some of the changes made earlier that made it easier to keep your carrier fueled , at least around civilization.

Its amazing how interlinked everything is!

I'd like to see rewards besides credits. I have 2 billion banked, and not really anything to spend it on. I am really curious how the new bargain mechanic works, but I hope it isn't just credits.

Here's some ideas for rewards:
  • access to synthesized items for a limited time. (Ammo, FSD Boost, etc). We'd need away to store these for use when we need them.
  • materials, including Guardian and Thargoid, etc. (An alternative method to gathering some of these).
  • bonuses to activities (10% bonus to bounty hunting for 24 hours)
  • paint jobs/decals
  • Arx
  • free engineering upgrade
  • information (mining hotspot located here)
  • with Odyssey, uncommon weapons, items, suit modules, etc.

Yes excellent points, but FD do not want to get in a situation where it makes it too easy.
I have been at this game since dec 2014. It is only in the last year or so I have understood the depth of Elite Dangerous.
It appears to me that ED is not a jump in start from scratch and in a day or so have an Anaconda, or indeed Elite Combat Rank.
When i first started playing i made a lot of bad mistakes and bad judgements.

We live and learn.

BUT Back on thread.

In something this complex, yes i mean Elite. You change one part of the system, something else will usually be affected.

Grumpy old duffer over and out.

Oh sure, I understand the sentiment. I don't want to make the game easier. What I want is a reason to do something beyond credits.

Yes totally agree on that. Still trying to figure out a useful task for the carrier. I did offer to transport people about but no takers. OH off to bed.

Assuming a carrier owner is rich. Buying 10000 tons of tritium at 40k a pop isn't an issue at all. Not even slightly.
Once your out in the black you'll map that 150 mill outlay in a week or two. The 10k of triti topped up each time you map a tritium hotspot means costs are totally insignificant.
I know this cos I've been out for months on just 12k trit and I've still got 10k in the hold.
Credits going up up. I only wish I'd bought 20k of tritium.
The carrier pays for itself in various ways.
Ax cmdrs are now earning a good living to offset their costs. So are bounty hunters.
Only ones left out are pirates and pvpers. Some would say no loss....lol. I decline to comment.
Do wish they'd buff exploring a tad. Smuggling is knackered too.
The balancing isn't going to be easy. I'm sure edo will compound the issue. Hope I'm wrong.

Some people need it, some not. That's all. I like my carrier, I can transport 19000 commodities, all my ships and friends 500ly away in 15 minutes.
No more waiting for people, when we want do something in other system. I have place, when I can deposit minerals gathered after deep space exploration. Or just shoot to piratres in nebulaes, which have any outposts/beacons. I have safe haven in the void. I can explore in any ship, when I want I can change ship 10k ly from bubble only to make some screenshots. I can fly in canyons using 800m/s viper. Aaand. Some systems, like lemon slice nebula REQUIRE carrier if you want visit it. We can too help in CG like "buy 20k units in bubble, jump to nebula, make sell order". This isn't common, but this is possibility.
This isn't content for everybody. For me this is totally worthy 6b and fuel. For some people no. And it's fine.

Player driven economy would force to ignore all npc´s pretty much, but ain´t that the given state already?
Why? Vice versa. You can spend money to hire NPC pilots to protect your station/plant. Or you spend your time to protect your property.
You spend money to allow NPC traders move goods between plants or your spend your time to trade your goods yourselves or you trade goods produces by NPC's factories like now.

How is this even a rebalance for Combat Zones?
Killing a CZ - Elite Federation Corvette = 440k
Killing a Elite Anaconda while bounty hunting = 1.2m

Easily 10-20 times more payout per hour in a haz res, than a high intensity combat zone.
