Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Yeah, it was really stressful for the server.
There were at least 60 Idris in this fight (certainly a lot more). A bug was constantly spawing Idris in this fight.
Each Idris have 8 turrets with AI = 480 AI to manage at the same spot.
[EDIT] forgotten to add the main cannon + the pilot AI : 600 AI at the same spot

Yawn - wake me up when it gets to 30,000 fully persistent air, ground and sea NPC's in multiplayer running 24/7 in real time, otherwise this is just amateur hour and nothing more than a Cryengine mod.

600 turrent agents? lol.
And what are your showing here ?
A scripted animation of x fellow comrades with no collision ? You can pass through them. You can fire through them. Not one of those entities is sent in the network when you play in a 4 co-op session, it's only a local visual trick.
The real entities are among the enemies and they are far less numerous. And if you move too close to their line to see how many of them are real, the next cut scene start.

LOL.
CP2077 is fully delivered on PC. Games have plenty of minor bugs on release since like forever, there are patches for that.
On consoles - no, it is a Anthem-level clusterpikk there.
I'd say SC-level clusterpikk, but I can't, since A) SC was never intended be released on consoles and B) SC, being 8 years in development, still is not a game but a glorified tech demo.

And CDPR offers a (hard-to-get) refund to buyers who are disappointed, while CI-G offers them to buy an Idris.

So yes, marketing of CDPR is AAA-level pikked, just as EA, Activision and Ubisoft are. But marketing of CI-G still is number one.

LOL, if you call the routine that handles turret tracking an AI then i wrote some outstanding AI in BASIC on my Commodore +4 when i was a kid!
I was AI coder even before. I wrote AIs on a 2KB programmable calculator. I had AI agents for destroyer navigation, gunnery and depth charges! And one for procedural placement of game assets.
Some people wouldn't be able to distinguish a random number generator from AI. AI is any scripted routine nowadays.

Even visual tricks require your style of "AI" to actually work. They have drastically reduced interactions, but they're still agents that work with and within an environment. And not being sent over the network actually has the exact opposite effect: it means more work is needed to keep them all in check.

Just like how the "real entities" in your silly 600-gun examples are far fewer.
I know double standards are really popular to you, but they don't actually work...

It's a pledge, not a pre-order.
With VAT applied?

after the finished game is out?
Yep, I consider any game package purchases as a preorder and should be refunded without exception until SC isn't tagged alpha and/or SQ42 is released.
For ship (or any kind of silliness like server modding guide) purchases? Well, we're at the end of 2020, I think one who thrown stupid money at CIG since 2016 shouldn't get any refund possibilities now. For the sake of undertaking their choices to fuel the firepit. Anyone should, or can easily be, educated about what and how this project is. Period.

PS: LA, you should add doors, lifts, thrusters, cockpit UI, etc... to your AI counter. :)

So if I pledge to get a bicycle to go mountainbiking, and in the end they build an electric scooter than can only operate on streets, with built-in music streaming and navigation, I am not entitled to a refund on that "pledge"?
Note, I do not intend to refund my SC pledge, I didn't invest much in 2014 and I see it as just a bad investment that might at least get me a B game in the end that is fun for a few hours (a bit like Star Wars Squadrons, except they were honest up front what they were building). It is still a bad move from CIG and shows how little trust they have in their ability to provide what they promised.
