Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Took my Alt out mining for a bit, 'cause those delivery missions he was doing are not paying much any more.

Went to a Musgravite hotspot. Got Monazite, Alexandrite, and Benitoite instead :p

But it turned out that Monazite was selling for more than Musgravite today anyway, and the others weren't far behind. So it worked out fine.

I was testing Core mining in a non-pristine system. I've heard some say it matters, and some say it doesn't. From what I can tell (from my experience), reserve type doesn't matter for cores. But there is some randomness between rings. Some rings do seem to have more cores in them. The one in Camazotz (major) is better than the one in Borann (pristine), for example.

Hotspots are weird -- you don't always find what is supposed to be "hot".

But these days anything you do find is going to be worth a fair amount of coin, so I guess it works out well enough.

Hot spots are, indeed, funny beasts when it comes to cores. Like you, I find the named element spectacularly absent :D

I'm in a hezres in my Mamba. O-Ren Ishii is such a geeat ship to fly. Stops on a sixpence too. Just took on a deadly FdL and it didn't even dent my shields, the silly rabbit. I suspect that would be a totally different kettle of fish if it'd been a human CMDR.

And then there was a dangerous Python which put up an altogether different fight. Got his shields down to 1 ring and he must've dropped a cell. Did this quite a few times before I could pew pew efffectively and even then he had a tough old hull to crack. Still, did it in the end with only 1 ring of my own shields left and got a hefty payout of all of 94kCR

Looking at transport missions too - thet really are not worth doing anymore.*

.......

Whereas yesterday I dropped into a Muzgravite hotspot and immediately was presented with 3 in close proximity - then an hour later I had not found another one but had found three Benitoite cores instead. Wasn't too happy with the number of cores in an hour but combined sell was about 60MCr. Not sure if I am going back mining again too soon.

After becoming allied with half of the factions in Lave, it's clear doing so isn't really giving much in mission payouts - which I sort've knew but needed to experience. I don't think missions will be my thing again unless they up their worth. Ah well.

So, I'm dragging my ships away for pastures and experiences new. Not sure what yet :D

In the meantime, "Chocks Away!" needed a new name and her midnight black paint job sort of suits this one:

OK, I've abandoned mastering FA off with a PS4 D-pad or whatever you kids call them.
I had a HOTAS in my Amazon wish list for a while so while I'm self isolating (bloody grandchildren!) I placed the order.
Wifey went nuts when it arrived as she spotted it in my wish list and ordered it for Xmas.
Just had to return it.....
Nine sleeps to go....
Nice.

I keep meaning to try FA off.

Us experts use HOTUS.

I'm stuck.

Trying to list of from Dav's, two orange sidewinders. Now I'm in space and the ship is completely unresponsive. Nav panels etc. work but no ship control like accelerate, pitch... tried a reboot. Reboot doesn't activate.

:rolleyes::cautious::censored:

Annoyingly, I've sent my carrier on but can't fly to it. Good job I have a fuel scoop.
HAHAHAHAHA
