Planets, Moons and Odyssey

We all know that when it comes to the First Footfall on our known Planets and it's Satellites we're all going to be chomping at the bit, more than likely, one person will try and be First on all of them.

Is it possible, that the devs and us can agree to put Neil Armstrong as the first footfall on our very own Moon? I think it would be a nice touch.

What do we think?

I think instead, that Odissey is the perfect chance to let us visit the moon! (And i agree with the OP)

I think the Moon will be out of bounds for a bit longer yet - in the previous two games the only settlement was Apollonius City but I think in ED there is supposed to be a much greater amount of lunar population. I haven’t had a look at the umbra part of the Moon recently in ED, can’t remember if it’s got the night city lights texture on it? I seem to remember one of the Devs mentioning cities or something along those lines, years back, as to why we can’t play at lunar lander yet.

I hope that whenever we do get down there the original landing sites are OOB under geodesic domes.

It's fully colonised. It'd need a ton of work to realise that and they've made it clear that level of detail isn't in Odyssey.

I agree for Earth (too much trouble, virtually impossible, and not even worth it), but i'm pretty positive about Moon and Mars when they'll add procedural cities generation in something like forth and/or fifth expansion.

I know the chance is very low but personally I wish they'd protect planets from the bubble from those first footfall tags. They're as silly as the first mapped ones when you're talking about planets that have already been technically scannedstepped on centuries ago.

I like the idea of having the moon say Neil Armstrong. Not only is it accurate, but it would make sense in the context of the game. However...

As far as rushing to put names on everything, I couldn't care less. Seeing a planet first discovered by "Commander Fossilized Turd Rockets" is the fastest way to break immersion for me.
